No offense, but Fanny Price looks so cheap and kinda slutish in this version. Is she suppose to look kinda vulgar in the story? (I never read the book).
fanny hair is a bit wild to have been brought up a proper young lady, she is 18 not a child in those days-every period piece I've seen there hair was always done
No. I like the 1983 BBC version Better . It comes in 6 Episodes. Eah an hour long. The 1983 version provides every detail of the book just about. And Sir Bertram is muh kinder in that one.
Wow. The first four chapters of the book, polished off in 7 minutes flat. And Fanny transformed from the book's fragile, timid flower to a shrieking, gasping tomboy galloping around with her hair all wild.
is it just me or does this version of mansfield park move too fast in the story line? It seems rushed and loses some of what made the story so interesting to me.
Oh, and I agree, loni, that Pride and Prejudice is the best! It's definitely my favorite Austen novel, along with Sense and Sensibility. And I love the P&P movie with Colin Firth as Darcy. Kiera Knightley's version isn't too bad either.
It probably sounds silly, but one thing I don't like about this 'Fanny' is her hair. It's not styled right for the time period! Especially when compared to Edmund, because he looks very authentic (and very good IMO). LOL - guess I'm fixated on the fashions too much! I like this version MUCH better than the '99 one (which I despise). Overall, I like the '83 movie best - it's the most like the book. But this one is very entertaining too, if you don't mind minor deviations from the book.
when I read this book I fell so in love with Edmund. He is more wonderful than any of the movies portray him...I was however so mad when she didn't write how they exactly got together! How frustrating!
Yes the 1983 version is the most like the book...did you notice that the actress that played Fanny in 1983 plays Mrs. Allen in the newest version of Northanger Abby...
I would venture to say neither, the best one in my opinion is the 1983 version starring Sylvestra Le Touzel, her version of Fanny was more true to the Author. But, I must say in all the remakes of Austen their is something to hold dear in each. I love the dance at the end of this one.
She is meant to be a Lady?!?!?! *points at Lady Betram* she looks like a scruff, nothing like the other 'Ladies' in other adaptions!!! And straight in with the Crawfords I see....tut tut
This is pretty close to the novel so far, and the actress is growing on me even if she is not really the Fanny described or in my imagination. It sounds like it was filmed very quickly. The film work in the other is quite wonderful, but there are a lot of liberties taken with the plot, writing and characters, and Fanny is not much closer to the book. Her character is very internalized and short of voice overs I'm not sure how it would translate well from book to film.
Hehe, I didn't know who Billie Piper was when I first saw this. It's strange to see her in this now... I keep expecting her to yell "Doctor!" and Dalek to come chasing after her. Nevertheless, it's very good! Thanks for uploading!
Well, I keep expecting her strip her clothes off and "do the Britney thing", singing and dancing the way she used to do before becoming an actress! :-S
She was a real hit in my country. I can almost hear her singing now: "Do you have a girlfriend...?"
Wow, he doesn't have much confidence in her!!

I've always liked this version better... even though it may not follow the story directly...
And I like how Billie piper portrays the character as well...

the version w/ Frances O'connor was too far from the movie. they just changed Fanny too much. I like this version better

Whenever I see Billie Piper I think of her in Dr. Who....

The older TV series may be more accurate but I really like this version. And I like Bilie Piper as Fanny, though I knoew some won't agree
muffin818 2 years ago 3
no i really like her, i don't know i just think she is the homely imgage i think of when i think of Fanny
evilpride21 2 years ago 2
True that. Billie Piper isn't hideous, but she's not a raving beauty either, which is right up Fanny's alley

James D'arcy! I would have liked to see him play Edmund instead, although the actor who actually does play him is good too.

The actor who plays Edmund in her also plays Mr Elton is the new Emma series on bbc 1. I think he's better as Mr Elton :)

I love you! I had no idea that there was a new Emma <3 Is it any good?

@pinkneonglowstick
The new one with Jonny Lee Miller is amazing!

Although the 1995 version is nothing like the book, i find this adaptation worse because the acting is painfully stilted and scripted.
I much prefer Emma and 2007 Northanger abbey.

omg i love the 2007 Northanger Abbey its amazing and the last scene with the kiss is so beautiful lol

I've never managed to see northanger abbey! What is it about?
cherrycakesbaybee 2 years ago
its different than p&p but its still really good about a girl who reads a lot with an overactive imagination, watch it and you will love it

This is the best version of Mansfield Park :) I LUV this movie!
I prefer the older version of Pride and Prejudice though, the bbc version with Colin Firth rather than the one with Keira Knightley :)
