The old 5.0L seemed like a great engine and of course it was all-aussie. Sadly emissions regulations came in and Holden simply gave up on it and decided to import. That engine was known as opposed to the 5.7L as better low down and more well suited to the 4 speed auto trans and the 5 speed manual gearbox was meant to be superior to the first 6 speed ones in the V8s after. They should of stuck with 5.0L and just updated it. Now if GM collapses perhaps Holden will reconsider it.

Yeah you should be able to cause the firing order doesn't change between the Gen 3 and the Gen 4's, so if you get the same system which is Extractors, dual Hi-flow cats, and a twin 2.5 inch Xforce exhaust with dual mufflers running quad 3 inch tips an LS1 will sound almost the same.

It is also Holden restricting the sound of the v8, stock these come in well under the 90db limt This is mostly due to prevent engine drone on highways which is common with high flow exhausts
