Mine had ich too after 3 days of getting him. I got a 15w UV sterilizer and the ich was 90% gone within 24 hours and completely gone in a week (I first filtered the water through my canister before going to my uv sterilizer). My hippo is still around with me after 1.5 years so far. That was a close one! I bought the Aqua Advantage 2000 15w uv sterilizer at aquacave.com or petstore.com
You should quarantine all new fish before adding to main display. Classic example of why this is very important. I am sorry what happened..how is he doing? did any of your other fish get it? best of luck.
