monis method is something almost unheard in israel.
I bought some of his DVD's on Krav Maga, just because I was interested to see what it was all about. I couldn't really fault the general techniques taught, though it wasn't anything particularly revolutionary.
Didn't know anything about his background at the time, but it certainly does lose him a huge amount of credibility if he's been spinning a lot of lies. He's obviously a pretty tough guy and a great martial artist - what a shame if he's spoiled all that by bullshitting
@darkmacry I know that. Like many I didn't know the truth at the time. Won't be wasting more money on DVDs. Better just to find a reputable Krav Maga instructor
@darkmacry I'm based in Northern Ireland. There's one instructor I know of here, but he was originally offering commando krav maga so I would question his credibility.
I believe there's another group offering "Urban Krav Maga" but not sure who they're affiliated to. I'm a very experienced martial artist, so it's a must for me to study with a properly affiliated club otherwise I couldn't take it seriously.
@whizzkid27 Those are the schools you should look for. IKMF, KMG, IKMA. Those schools are the most popular and the most proper form of Krav Maga you can find. I m still looking for an instructor in your area. I m in contact with KMG and IKMF and they take really long because they are still doing their instructor check around the world.
@whizzkid27 Kook to any of the larger organisations - Krav Maga World Wide, British Krav Maga Association, IKMA, IKMF, KMG, FEKM - these guys all offer real Krav 0- its just a case of being near one.
Commando Krav Maga is crap... Its not even real Krav Maga. Moni [His real name is Pinto Aizik] just got sued 8/25/2010 in Florida for fraud for claiming he is a former IDF operator and instructor and co founder of regular Krav Maga. He is a Judo and Jui Jutsu player. He was never in the IDF and did not co found Krav Maga. I have his videos...its all judo and Jui Jutsu with elements of crapy krav moves he stole from the original system. Google Commando Krav Lawsuit for the whole story.
A shame the critics are so personal. I have black belts in both karate and jujitsu and trained at Wingate in 1985 in KM. I met Avi Nardia there who is the real deal. He has said that Moni trained him. The trad. martial arts are brutal if you have a sensei who really knows what they were actually about. Moni's tech. are not his own, but out of trad. martial arts, with some changes. Ma tech. are used by every military force in the world. No one has invented anything, but Moni's style is worthy.
@Shotokita Avi Nardia never trained with moni but with Imi. Moni was not even here. I know it because Avi was in the G camp for instructors training and I was there to train with them. Moni and Avi have nothing in common unless we talk about kapap which another crap
@darkmacry Erm thats not what Avi used to say. Avi is skilled but not exactly what he claims. Avi - Moni and Jim Wagner all are connected and none to truthfull - though Avi is by far the best of the bunch.
@darkmacry 5 days - oh no. CKM is a 3 day course. I head that he has increased it to 30 whole hours !!!! Put in perspective - it takes longer to get a white belt than be a CKM instructor. The whole thing is some kind of joke - then to call it Krav Maga Arghhhh !!1
@71JonnyC Learn Judo and jiujitsu and mixed them and you got what moni has. Learn the traditional ones is more worth than his system at least you have a better knowledge than what you will have with moni
Ya... This douche bag is being sued into oblivion... Nothing more than yet another Bob Spoar!! These types of people must be stopped from making this insane claims without backing anything up! Worse yet, show like Human Weapon, Weaponology, never, ever checked him out or his credintials... I am appauled... Last heard he fled Canada and is now living in Venezeula?! - What a poser!!
I had read some bad comments about Moni so I was concerned about spending a bunch of money on videos because they are expense. So, I rented them online from Goldstarvideo and them in a couple of days,at fraction on the buy price and in his defense they were great- I actually wish I had bought them but money is a little tight
You did the smart thing. You need to ask yourself, how many attackers would attack you and just freeze. Also, there's zero combatives to disturb the attacker. All these disarms are pretty, but deal only with the weapon no the operator. These techniques are nice for dancing with your assailant.
Try to return the videos. This guy is a fraud and a liar. He never trained w/ the creator of the Krav Maga system and also he wasn't ever a special commando as he claims.
Moni is a proven fraud. His claims that he helped created modern KM for IDF is a total fabrication IDF has never even heard of this guy. he's simply another chump trying to cash in on the RBSD trend that is happening.
Moni is a complete fraud. How this guy got away with this for years is another topic in itself. He even landed a spot on Human Weapon, but he was training in the woods not at the IDF headquarters.
engine54medic: you seem like an smart guy, too bad you don't know what you're talking bout. Krav Maga is not a loose term. Krav Maga is the system Imi created and the official system of the IDF. You are absolutely wrong about each elite unit in the IDF creating their own systems! Every unit is trained only in Krav Maga, and a very small number of those units use specific elements of KM that relates to their missions while other units don't. And wether Moni was asked to enhance KM for the IDF....
Everyone in Israel and in the IDF know...it's all one of Moni's many big BS stories. Moni's system, CKM, has nothing to do with real Krav Maga, as it has nothing to do with the IDF. Moni would have gotten support from real instructors and commandos if he stuck to the truth which is that he created CKM on his own, CKM is not Krav Maga, CKM was never used in the IDF, he was never an instructor in the IDF, he never trained any of our units, he was never in any ambush, and he was never a commando.
After you strike him, you could use wrist manipulation after he retracted his hand. The only time when you would use wrist manipulation first would be when you are restrained for example sitting in a car and cannot reach his pressure point for an immediate strike.
This is not Krav Maga but rather an attempt to modify Jujitsu to look like Krav Maga. In Real Krav Maga you assume that your attacker's one hand is an expert Mack the knife, and with the free hand he is Muhammad Ali, while he is Bruce Lee with his Legs.
You cannot spend time trying to grab his knife when his hand is extended because he could retract it and stab you again, or knock you out with his free hand.
On the flip side, in the last 2 years since training in CKM, there have been some subtle changes, as well as a couple of big changes.....the goal, make it effective for everyone, while maintaining its practicality in today's society. So, it boils down to each person finding an art that suits them. But, unless you train in CKM, don't bash a system you know nothing about. If you train in CKM and don't like it, move on to something else. It is still America!! Sorry for long post....
Lets summarise CKM and Aizik. A 3 Day course !!! at $2000. Get real how credible is that. CKM is not krav maga, and is taught by a man who is not a commando. A 3 worded title and all were lies.
@engine54medic CKM has nothing to do with Krav Maga. Not even a technique and the basics are in there. If he call it CKM he should at least teach you the basics and the right techniques with may be some modifications. What i do is that I teach an unmodified technique and after tell my students that they could do it another way. Basics and pinciples are always there though. I show them other options
I know several Krav Maga schools and school owners that adapted their Krav Maga to another system. In other words, they changed certain elements to make Krav Maga even better. They never served in the IDF, yet they still call it Krav Maga, and gain support from their home organization. Krav Maga should constantly evolve to become better. From what I've seen of Traditional KM, it hasn't evolved, because they still teach the same things I learned 10 years ago......cont...
but, Moni did create a great system. The term "Krav Maga" is a loose term, much like "karate." I teach Tae Kwon Do, yet I call my afternoon program "After School Karate." From what I'm told from a friend of mine who is U.S. Special Forces (who trains in Israel every now and then), each elite unit in Israel adapts KM to their own system. That's the beauty of Krav Maga. It's not limited to "punch now or kick now." You adapt it to the situation. Don't put Krav Maga in a box. .........Cont..
Krav Maga Loose :-( Yes it a generic term used to refer to the work and system developed by Imi. Co -ncenetnly - Aizik claimed to have worked with ini - Imi retired when aizik was 10 years old. Aizik later retracted this claim too.
Most Israeli's want to train in traditional arts, like aikido, karate, jujitsu, etc. In my humble opinion, CKM techniques are highly effective; yet KM techniques are good too, but there are some holes in the system that need to be changed or fixed. Don't get me wrong, it is a good system, and I still practice it as well. But the gun disarms need to be changed, as well as the knife disarms. Whether or not Moni was asked to "enhance" KM, we may never know, ......cont. on next card........
How are you qualified to say that - in your experience the gun disarms needed updating ? Moni 'updated' the gun defences as he did not actually know any. He made them all up as he admitted to a student of his once - and in the same seminar he also claimed to have spent 20 years developing them with the idf.
People go round and round trying to either prove or disprove whether or not he was in IDF Special Forces. Until I see a document from the Israeli Military disputing it, everything else is here say. You have at least 10 organizations teaching KM, and all of the heads of those groups claim to be the "one Imi appointed to carry on the legacy." I'm told by U.S. Soldiers who have trained in Israel that KM schools in Israel bicker amongst each other. In fact, most Israeli's don't want to do KM....
You are a typical sad believer. Aizik is a fraud - google commando krav maga sucks. The guy is a fake and you are a mark. You are not learning special forces anything, you are not learning krav maga and you were not taught by an ex commando - or a major (which he also claims) He left the army as a sargent and worked as a physical training instructor in a non combative role.
I have trained in Krav Maga for 4 years (KMWW), as well as TKD (20 years); Muay Thai, BJJ, Shorin-Ryu, Shotokan, and most recently Commando Krav Maga. Having trained with Moni and am currently a Level 3 Instructor in CKM, and having done traditional KM, I have an educated opinion on the subject. Moni is a stand up guy; one of the nicest guys I ever met, and very sincere. Noone can or will ever dispute his reputation as a martial artist or judo/ jujitsu practitioner.....cont. on next card
Moni Aizik, IDF military service ID number: 2166428, never served in the special forces. CKM is not and never was developed or used in the IDF not for the regular forces and not for the special forces, and CKM is not krav maga, but if you like it then you should train in it, even though it has never been battle or street tested.
xingyimaster1987, i would like to tell you a story. I am a commando krav maga student. one day, a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo came to our class; he did well with the techniques; but when the pressure test came (you claim we dont do one but ALL krav maga classes do) he froze and literally ran out of the room, never to return to any classes.
Other martial arts are great; but do not assume they are the best. most of them are not meant for street fighting.
this guy is a proven fake, all his stories are lies, in my opinion even krav maga is shit. people believe me, you want to really learn how to fight you have to do a martial that has loads of free sparring, not silly little techniques. train in wrestling, muay thai, BJJ, sanshou, judo, karate, all these styles are effective because they pressure test.
Sorry but you are talking shit. Who cares what claims are made. KM & CKM both use INTENSE pressure testing. The "silly" moves (perhaps you mean intricate or complicated) are likely to be found in traditional martial arts, particularly some aspects of Jiu Jitsu. We do spar in CKM as do they in KM. I don't think you know enough about these disciplines to comment
alright calm down, personally i've always been against criticising other martial styles, but for moni aizik i've made an exception. if the training works for you, more power to you but would you really want to learn from someone with no credentials who is a proven liar. not me.
Personally, as long as the moves work (which they generally seem to do for me) I don't really care about all the politics. I can understand your hesitation though
I teach krav maga for a living - having come from a san shou and wing chn back ground. For some one against criticising other martial arts - you have had a good go. Krav is a great system. Its nothing like Monis Bullshit system -
maybe it is, i like to keep an open mind. perhaps i'll do sum more research. i want to find a krav maga place that does free sparring as well as technique training.
j0j0, my views are perfectly legitimate, they are believed by many others, whether you want to look at the facts and ascertain what the truth is happens to be your perogative. i say open your mind and look into my claims, don't take my word for it, or anyone else's for that matter.
SerenAlef is right If you want to train in CKM because you believe his claims that it's used by the IDF reconsider. if you want to learn how to defend yourself do some research and find what works for you whether it's Krav Maga, Commando Krav Maga, or something else.
Yeah, well said. I am a CKM student. I read mixed stories and opinions on CKM and came to the conclusion that I don't really care of its origin. Its still effective and I'm having a great time learning the techniques and improving my fitness. Some of the moves in CKM seem more logical to me. Ultimately it's down to personal choice and which classes you have available to you. Krav Maga is good, CKM is good.
Guess that true - I did the research and wrote the article. I also communicated with his lawyers who retracted their legal threats when I was prepared to stand my ground. Aizik is a fraud and is misleading people. Its not krav maga - its not even close.
I am currently a serving officer in the IDF special forces. Moni Aizik did not serve in the Israeli special forces, he was not a commando or an officer, he was never tasked by the IDF to create or revamp any hand to hand combat system, he did not create CKM for the IDF, the IDF only uses krav maga and has never used Commando krav maga, Moni has never and does not train any of our units in CKM. If you train in CKM because you believe his claims that it's used by the IDF, reconsider!
A German Baron named Munchausen served in the military and returned home with tall tales about his adventures, telling people that he'd traveled to the Moon, ridden cannonballs, and escaped from a swamp by pulling himself out by his own hair. Moni Aiziks is the Baron Munchausen of Krav Maga, only he doesn't claim to have ridden cannonballs. He only claims to have been in Israeli Special Forces, that his unit was wiped out and that he cofounded Krav Maga.
I am afraid thats is marketing, not fact. Israeli military sources have stated pubilically that CKM is not TAUGHT, has never been taught and is nothing to do with the military. It is marketed as a military system to civilians.
Monis claims he 'co founded' Krav also need to be taken with some scepticism. Imi retired from the military in 1964 before moni ever served. How did Moni co found a system with Imi when he was no longer in the IDF ?
I must agree with somersetkkravmaga. Moni has now admitted that he only met Imi once. He was never assigned to "overhaul" kravmaga. What Moni teaches has never officially been taught to the IDF and if you know your Krav Maga is not recognisable as KM. All the other major Krav Maga organisations IKMF, IKMA, KMW, KMF all teach roughly the same thing.
@somersetkravmaga Because he never did. He took some judo techniques and BJJ and mixed both of them with some Krav Maga. He was never taught under Imi and never was part of the yom kipour war. If he was teaching the special forces than he would still do it today and would never be able to teach civilians because teaching special forces is something really big
Commando Krav Maga takes no prisoners in street fights. I recently started doing CKM much more effective than many traditional martial arts which take years to learn.
It is impossible to say which system is the most effective. Some of those, who train KRAV MAGA, may think, that KM is the most effective. some of those, who train KAPAP, may think, that KAPAP is the most effective, and so some practitioners from Commando KRAV MAGA or anything else may believe, that what they train is the most effective.
I believe, that you have not trained all of them to decide which one is the most effective... And it is pointless, because alway there will be people, who will prefer something else.
Its not Krav Maga, never been used by the Israeli forces so why call it Commando Krav Maga. Its a 3 day "instructor" course for Gods sake! Special forces my arse.
The PR may be a bunch of make believe, but the tactics are simple and realistic. Its way better than some crane-kick Pei-Meis.

Good man SerenAlef. I totally agree.

xingyimaster1987, i would like to tell you a story. I am a commando krav maga student. one day, a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo came to our class; he did well with the techniques; but when the pressure test came (you claim we dont do one but ALL krav maga classes do) he froze and literally ran out of the room, never to return to any classes.
Other martial arts are great; but do not assume they are the best. most of them are not meant for street fighting.

this guy is a proven fake, all his stories are lies, in my opinion even krav maga is shit. people believe me, you want to really learn how to fight you have to do a martial that has loads of free sparring, not silly little techniques. train in wrestling, muay thai, BJJ, sanshou, judo, karate, all these styles are effective because they pressure test.
xingyimaster1987 2 years ago
Sorry but you are talking shit. Who cares what claims are made. KM & CKM both use INTENSE pressure testing. The "silly" moves (perhaps you mean intricate or complicated) are likely to be found in traditional martial arts, particularly some aspects of Jiu Jitsu. We do spar in CKM as do they in KM. I don't think you know enough about these disciplines to comment
ScoopCKM 2 years ago
alright calm down, personally i've always been against criticising other martial styles, but for moni aizik i've made an exception. if the training works for you, more power to you but would you really want to learn from someone with no credentials who is a proven liar. not me.
xingyimaster1987 2 years ago
Personally, as long as the moves work (which they generally seem to do for me) I don't really care about all the politics. I can understand your hesitation though
ScoopCKM 2 years ago
yeah thats fair enough, if you guys are doing sufficient pressure testing this style should be good for the real fight.
xingyimaster1987 2 years ago
I teach krav maga for a living - having come from a san shou and wing chn back ground. For some one against criticising other martial arts - you have had a good go. Krav is a great system. Its nothing like Monis Bullshit system -
somersetkravmaga 1 year ago
I know squat about this instructor but I've got to tell you that you're dead wrong about KM.
I've taken Muay Thai, BJJ, even Karate, and KM is *easily* as effective as any of those.
What these videos don't show is how GOOD KM teaching forces you to be aggressive, and puts you in training situations that keep you on your toes.
It's a damn good defence system.
Virility 2 years ago
maybe it is, i like to keep an open mind. perhaps i'll do sum more research. i want to find a krav maga place that does free sparring as well as technique training.
xingyimaster1987 2 years ago
You have no Idea what you're on about.
j0j0joanna 2 years ago
j0j0, my views are perfectly legitimate, they are believed by many others, whether you want to look at the facts and ascertain what the truth is happens to be your perogative. i say open your mind and look into my claims, don't take my word for it, or anyone else's for that matter.
xingyimaster1987 2 years ago
SerenAlef is right If you want to train in CKM because you believe his claims that it's used by the IDF reconsider. if you want to learn how to defend yourself do some research and find what works for you whether it's Krav Maga, Commando Krav Maga, or something else.
martialwarrior540 3 years ago 2
Yeah, well said. I am a CKM student. I read mixed stories and opinions on CKM and came to the conclusion that I don't really care of its origin. Its still effective and I'm having a great time learning the techniques and improving my fitness. Some of the moves in CKM seem more logical to me. Ultimately it's down to personal choice and which classes you have available to you. Krav Maga is good, CKM is good.

Interestingly the voice over speaks of Krav Maga, not commando krav maga - listen again

Look up 'Commando Krav Maga Sucks'in Google. Really interesting facts about this guys claims.
somersetkravmaga 3 years ago
wow. its interesting how ppl take what they read in the internet as facts. (no further comment).
ImyManz99 2 years ago

He only claims to have been in Israeli Special Forces, that his unit was wiped out and that he cofounded Krav Maga.
finalcoverage 3 years ago
He teamed up with imi(the founder of krav maga) and designed commando krav maga, made for military use, but civilians can learn it aswell.
Raging5 3 years ago
I am afraid thats is marketing, not fact. Israeli military sources have stated pubilically that CKM is not TAUGHT, has never been taught and is nothing to do with the military. It is marketed as a military system to civilians.
Monis claims he 'co founded' Krav also need to be taken with some scepticism. Imi retired from the military in 1964 before moni ever served. How did Moni co found a system with Imi when he was no longer in the IDF ?
somersetkravmaga 3 years ago 15
I must agree with somersetkkravmaga. Moni has now admitted that he only met Imi once. He was never assigned to "overhaul" kravmaga. What Moni teaches has never officially been taught to the IDF and if you know your Krav Maga is not recognisable as KM. All the other major Krav Maga organisations IKMF, IKMA, KMW, KMF all teach roughly the same thing.
kravsystems 3 years ago
@somersetkravmaga Because he never did. He took some judo techniques and BJJ and mixed both of them with some Krav Maga. He was never taught under Imi and never was part of the yom kipour war. If he was teaching the special forces than he would still do it today and would never be able to teach civilians because teaching special forces is something really big

all the Krav systems are effective, and ive gotten to speak to Moni Aizik, he is a real great guy.

Commando Krav Maga takes no prisoners in street fights. I recently started doing CKM much more effective than many traditional martial arts which take years to learn.

Will only work on a "compliant" partner IMO. Too much reliance on fine motor skills, which wont be there under adrenal stress.

yes and second thing krav maga is NOT martial art!! km is fighting system!
Piotrek830324 4 years ago
this is not krav maga...
alexkravmaga 4 years ago
It's commando krav maga, taught by moni aizik and is the most effective krav maga system developed.
Raging5 4 years ago
It is impossible to say which system is the most effective. Some of those, who train KRAV MAGA, may think, that KM is the most effective. some of those, who train KAPAP, may think, that KAPAP is the most effective, and so some practitioners from Commando KRAV MAGA or anything else may believe, that what they train is the most effective.
NakedSteak 4 years ago
I believe, that you have not trained all of them to decide which one is the most effective... And it is pointless, because alway there will be people, who will prefer something else.
NakedSteak 4 years ago
Its not Krav Maga, never been used by the Israeli forces so why call it Commando Krav Maga. Its a 3 day "instructor" course for Gods sake! Special forces my arse.
