Amazing pictures. Don't know why I am so fascinated by this particular snake, morbid fascination perhaps because it is so very fast, toxic and aggressive. There is no way these pictures were taken as the post says nor is that venom on the snakes mouth, that is water it has been drinking. Mamba venom is very dark yellow and much thicker than water. Besides, snakes don't waste their lifeline to catching prey. Lovely pictures nonetheless.
@fearingpredators Indeed! They're actually more nervous than aggressive and will try and retreat or flee when confronted. The problem with them is their nervousness causes them to feel threatened very quickly and that's when people experience their "aggressiveness". But yeah!! They are like most animals, who will flee when confronted. Example: most people experienced with the African bush knows that when a lion charges, you stand your ground and most of the time they will back off.
Yea, that's deff a black mamba. Um, I would never keep a snake like that. Very aggressive, obviously potently neurotoxic and those things can grow over 3 meters long. Anyway if that's the kinda thing you fancy good for you. Just remember to have someone by your house all the time, (You know like a scuba diving buddy) just in case one of you get bitten one of you can take the other to the nearest hospital. (anti venom is good, but you need medical attention) If you both get bitten, cheers.
They become aggressive only when provoked. This snake always seek to retreat from confrontation if possible.Yes,they are highly dangerous but also misunderstood.

Did you know that every type of mamba is part of the Cobra family, and that most people think that the Black mamba gets its name from its black interior skin, well thats not true cause Black mambas can have gray skin too, its really the black interior mouth.
I was six, my mSawhili friend 7. We'd been playing in the rusty old ruined car, with a small tree growing through the boot, for an hour. It was Lutoli's turn to drive, & I sat in the passenger seat. I saw a black button on the rusty glovebox-cover, and pressed it. It fell open metallically. The black mamba was wide awake.....! Really true, & I wrote about it in my book, "Speak Swahili, Dammit!" See the short video on youtube.
You can tell by looking at the background perspective that the photographer really isn't "extremely close." He's using a moderately long lens and is probably at a 'reasonably safe' distance (if there is such a thing!)
So, the drop of venom; was it excited or agitated? Were you shaking in your boots? Did you realize how much danger you were in at the moment? Were you pi***ng in your pants? I would be!!
I love snakes, but only constrictors, NOT venomous, and certainly not one of the most venomous in the world! You can't hold and pet those... I've had a boa, and I LOVE them! Will have another in the next year or so... once hubby lets me.. darn it....
Oh.. totally creepy and effective soundtrack!!... Curry??
I wouldn't be able to sleep knowing i have a venomous snake in my house, even if it was in a container. What if you went to feed your snake one day and it wasn't in it's cage, it would be a long night..
Watch viperkeeper here on youtube. He keeps mambas and many other venomous species of snakes and uploads weekly videos of his adventures with them. Very cool and also educational and funny.
I lived in south africa for many years and have had a close encounter with a mamba by unlucky chance, they are neurotic and very aggressive when feeling threatened it is a beautiful thing but like all beautiful things is utterly deadly,my friend at durban zoo is in agreement with me,eventually you will see your friend bitten and the anti venin is only 50% effective as half the population is allergic to it! Because one day he will get careless,82\% of professional milkers get bitten.dissaude him!
In actual fact a black mamba bite can potentially kill a human within 30 minutes depending on the health, size, age, and psychological state of the human, but death usually occurs among 35-60 minutes. A bite will either kill you if not paralyze you for life.
better be fast with anti-venom that snake can cause parylization for permenant and can kill in 15minutes - 3 hours after a bite. and well iots venom ios diffrent than others because it actually cause parylization and then death so be careful
ps. no other snake can cause parylazation for life
I am extremely curious about how hes keeping such a snake.
Did he take some training in handling snakes, What kind of container is the snake kept in, Whats being fed, Has he kept other snakes in the past or right now?
Man, there are easier and more comfortable ways for your friend to commit a suicide rather than keep this monster at home. This creature just waits for his single mistake to make its move. I hope that your friend has plenty of antivenom at home and a very safe place to keep this extremely deadly snake.

What an attack scene, a black mamba jumps right out the suitcase and aggressively attacks his face. That was brutal.

The National Association of Snake Attacks and Snake Related Assaults (NASASRA) recommends not getting bitten by a snake.
If bitten the NASASRA advises against allowing yourself to be bitten again.
The NASASRA recommend these safety tips...
1. Do NOT try to check a snake for cavities
2. Do NOT attempt to milk a snake
3. Do NOT put a snake in your pants
4. Do NOT allow snakes to babysit children
5. Do NOT ask snakes for directions
6. Do NOT attempt to breastfeed a snake

Please throw in some details!
sadgreen 2 years ago
These pictures are not taken through glass.
Thei person who has the mamba has own many snakes for many years. In case the mamba will bite, he has antivenom at home.
The mamba is in a very very big container.
The snake eats live mice.
Fredriksam 2 years ago
He must have a whole collection of antivenom.
sadgreen 2 years ago
@sadgreen the snake s through glass im seeing that 2
Tristan52799 1 year ago
I'm amazed that you can actually own one of those things.
Mambas are commonly thought to be the world's deadliest snakes. I'd think owning one would be the reptilian version of playing Russian Roulette.
owiz9212 2 years ago 2
I do not think mambas dry bite and they are very aggresive.
greekamerican1961 2 years ago 2
The real tragedy would be if it got loose after it bit the owner.
Other people or the snake itself could be killed.
If the owner wants to live with the H-bomb of snakes, then his or her death is their own fault.
