  • TEXAS!!!

  • @DrummingKid101 FIGHT!!!

  • im assuming this audition was for a middle school considering the ineptitude we've all witnessed

  • OMG YOU SUCK SO BAD JUST GIVE UP ON LIFE

  • The only thing I noticed is that you seem to base your hands off their position when you play accents. You should play as if accents are something different than taps, instead of taps being something different from accents. It should all start from the taps, because 90% of the stuff you'll play Is down. And make sure your downstrokes rebound to 3 instead of going all the way down and staying there. Other then that good job keep it up.

  • pretty good video bro!! better than i could do xD and this is old!! love to see new ones

  • wow...wut up wit these bad comments.....ur oretty good bro

  • play in the nude for increased performance

  • Good, Just keep you left hand lower its pretty high. unless you plan on playing with a tilt

  • sick we got the same drum pad!

  • well if this years audition is coming soon that means you didnt make it hahaha

  • pretty good. sounds like you are gripping the right tighter than the left a little. Just takes time. have fun and keep at it.

  • just clean up the stick heights, thats pretty much it

  • to me, it looks like you're using your fingers in your right hand a little too much, and it seems that you are downstroking everything. kinda hard to tell on a real feel though... ill check out the new audition vid

  • Katy I.S.D.?

  • stick hightes.

  • Where did you get that pad?

  • practice on a pillow its a great way to bust chops..and play rudiments for two stroke roles..they dont sound so clean but other than that great chops...and always..bust chops

  • Its all good but watch your right elbow. Dont let it stick out.

  • @TuRnErOBiKeS It's supposed to stick out.

  • pretty good want to see a more recent vid though

  • you should get a pad you can build chops with.

  • i just flip it over. got an offworld percussion one now too, this video is way old

  • Cool

  • VERY GOOD KEEP IT UP

  • get a better pad [vic firth snare pad]

  • thanks, ive been working on that one since i started playing drums

  • nice. I don't mean to be a "youtube drum tech"

but you did very well. technique is good (no pinky yay!!!) left hand great. just more intensity from your playing might help you. hit the drum

well in this case the pad :)

  • pretty good

just watch ur heights with ur left hand

  • i have that pad. i hate it with a passion. i only use the hard side to build chops. the soft side is ust annoying lol

  • i have the invader now. the soft side is good when the parents annoyed with my drumming though

  • i have it to, its amazing. thats very true

  • it would be cool but thats risky and most likely discouraged while during the time of this auditions long ago. I personally go for sound and cleanliness over visual embellishment, and thats generally how it is in my drumline

  • Learn some tricks

  • your a tard...

  • Holy eff, I just had a drumline competition today at Taylor High School.

  • oh yeah, i was there. What school?

  • Klein Oak, we got second place I think.

  • i was one of the escorts for yall. aka random person sitting by the gate watching

  • very nice and very clean...keep it up...dont mind the haters....good job

  • i thought that was pretty good...the left hand looks a little weird though...but yeah fuckk those other guys with the pointless comments

  • keep it bro ignore the bad comments.

  • make the performance a little more visually exciting and try to get your grace notes down a little more but overall good technique

  • SUCK IT!

  • Waaaaayyy too short.

  • am i supppose to devon miles that shit and add a lil somtim somtin at the end or what? is just played what i was given

  • You told me to give you tips. I'm sorry if I was giving constructive criticism.

  • BITch you suck a chode

  • yes, i must suck penis because you believe my playing is inadequate for your obviously superior standards. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • nice stuff bro..... i have the same pad too... lol

  • watch drum line

  • i hope your kidding

  • lol i am that movie sucks

  • dont hold your breath. it sounded like you were

  • if you haven't already fixed it lower your taps man. other wise not bad. i also realize this is over a year ago.

  • cool man

  • this might sound weird, but try breathing softer, and breathe harder maybe, the first beat of every 4 msers

  • yeah i didnt even notice that i breathed like this until i filmed myself. i think its because i had a lot of tension in my shoulders but now ive learned to relax while playing.

  • ya, me to ,and great job with that piece you just played.

  • the whole things great! nice use of the different rudiments with triplets and nice style. the only thing i can suggest is maybe some left hand accents too. but the whole things great

  • lower your left hand

  • your crushing those diddles

    not a good thing

  • watch those tap heights!

  • make sure your breathing throughout the whole piece, it will make everything make you feel relaxed and comfortable.

  • Hey man, good job. I can tell that you understand what you need to do, so just keep playing. I agree with some of the stuff the other comments say, but not the rim shot one right below mine. Rimshots are played different ways: regular, beefy, feminine, and pings are what they are mostly called. Anyway, good job.

  • Hey man sorry to say but ur left hand looked so unconfortable. It does sound good but be sure to not bring ur right hand back or outward to much to do the rim shots. I for one don't bring my right hand back I just do the rim shots in the middle of the stick. Again really good but work on ur left hand. Mine sure as heak ain't as good as that but its technique is good. I try to keep my fingures when i am playin traditional on all the time it ain't easy though. Good job man.

  • love ur breathing

  • ok

ur left hand is a little loose. watch your left pinky. when u do rimshots, make sure you dont bring ur right hand out ward too much. adjust ur elbows. u look so uncomfortable. when u accent with your left hand, dont bring the back of the stick down so much. the left is controlled by the wrist AND THE FORE ARM, so dont be afraid to move it around. other than that, you did really good.

  • what pad is that?

  • hq real feel

  • hm, well ur taps look too high, and ur left hand looks like ur holding it too loose

  • taps way to high

  • looks pretty good depending on what ur auditioning for and use the other side of that pad its more realistic, if you practice on that ull be dissapointed if you try anything on a real snare.

    peace

  • Just a general tip, whatever your auditioning for, do it with a met.

  • Were those flams ( 2nd measure on the 2 e and ) supposed to be flat?

  • ehh...no. lol. i was quite noob to snare then

  • i dunno if u fixed already, but u could make more distinction between your accents and your taps, everything looks the same height in this vid to me

  • youre like, 7x better than i am, so i'm really in no place to correct you, but if i had to throw a tip your way, i;d say keep your left hand slightly lower while you play?

  • yeah, i got that fixed pretty fast, one of our directors favorite thing to say is get your left hand down. thanks for the critic, i apprechiate it.

  • you breath really heavy...

  • yeah i know. this vid really sucks, i might take it off, or post another one around tryout time next year, to show improvement.

  • Very nice ,Cory. Give us a little longer sample. You have talent and ability.

  • try adding in backsticking during the grace notes

  • FAGGOT!!!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Look at your name pinkfairy72. Friggin' great!! Way to give advice Pinkfairy72. I think you might be the fag.

    Keep working harder. Looks great!

  • haha, good thing im actually friends with the guy that made this video.

he's on the snare line at my school and i play tenors...

    looks like youre the fag

  • I would really focus on just keeping those grace notes down and fixing your left to right hand look, matching them in height and sound.

  • nvm i just read that other comment with sum1 asking the same thing.

  • did u hav to mark time while doing it?

  • i had to mark time during the actual audition

  • So, what year were u in when u made it into snare

    i.e. freshman, sophomore etc.

  • i made snare this year as a sophomore. last year i marched bass.

  • mark time during to show that you can march

  • why?

  • shows your able

  • what, you dont believe i can

  • no, im saying that its proof for whoever the auditions for

  • ohh, no this isnt a video audition. i justed filmed myself playing the audition etude for my high school drumline auditions that happened soon after this. its not for a corps or anything

  • oh well whatever it still is cooler

  • cory i love you can i have your babies?

  • lol ay man we got the same pad

  • Pretty good, just work on your heights mainly on your flams, they seem to go all over the place. and work on the sound quality of your diddles too

  • its a term we use in england alot i dunno what u call it in the states, but you need to move your arms when playing the rolls, using to much wrist

  • ive been taught otherwise. i use more arm when doing concert rolls but not much else

  • Yea, You were probably taught by an older marcher, As was I. EVERYTHING is off the wrist, You have to do 32nd singles at 132 BPM? Do it off the wrist. Thats basically how they played.

Recently corps have been using more arm when they roll though, they still use all wrist, but they do move the arm though. Dont go crazy with it, but in typical tenor fashion, Im gonna tell you to "flow" with it. Every band has a diffrent technique, but more recently its been use of arm

  • This is the weridest things yet

  • i wish i could do that

  • pretty cool there 1 think i would say is you need to pulse your arms more when you play your rolls

  • what do you mean by pulse?

  • Nice!!!

I'm on 3rd snare in my high school too, check out my drumming vids & please give me tips & tell me what i may need to work on.

  • YOU SUCK CORY!!

    Nah jk, youre the shit

  • lol thanks. check out my other vids. they suck even more.

  • you deserve it, good job.

  • thank you

  • what did you make?

i know it says 3rd snare but where?

  • my high school

  • check out the link in the discription

  • wow, im retarded ^

    *description*

  • I have the same pad

  • Hey cory this is matt e you've got this in the bag

  • thanks

  • definately get those taps down. it will help bring out your accents and flams more. otherwise, pretty good.

  • be sure to get the taps down -- unless you guys play higher taps, and it looks like you're letting go on your left hand between your thumb and index finger -- try not to do that. A few metric inconsistencies. But not bad overall =)

  • thanks

  • comment please. only two weeks left

  • and u rushed the part after the first sixlets majorly which is probably y the flam taps wernt perfect

  • thanks

  • hey i couldnt hear the accents in the flam tap section very well so work on bring them out
