  • Check out 808 state Ancodia for a clever sample of this song ... then you can check Cobra Bora & its Hustle sample

  • Real song. Not this garbage they play today. Great drive on a cloudy day while driving out to Long Island without rain. :-D

  • yeah, this is house music :)

  • Rememeber This in 1984 is tight

  • Nice retro

  • @ everyone, the Music today has "changed" so much due to the "fact" that you cannot put something into something that for the most part is not even in the "equation" that something would be the "Soul"...what happened to "all" of the "real" Soul Musicians from back in the day, hmm? Where is the Love now?

  • @INFINITEINDIGOCHILDE The problem is that artist creativity was praised then, now it is despised. The industry is run by accountants not people with a genuine interest in music now. Hence everything is lower common denominator and creativity and diversity etc. are actively discouraged as they don't necessarily lead to higher profits. Of course in the long term they lose but they are too narrow minded to see or care.

  • TAKES ME BACK TO A REALY GOOD PLACE

  • Tune don't age, sounds so fresh

  • I'm sorry this still sound f..king heavy .........

  • beautiful bass line

  • 107.5 WBLS with the CHIEF ROCKER FRANKIE CROCKER. Happy NYC Times

  • i can tell you are NYC peps cuz not to mean people know bout wbls or kiss and not the fake one. 43 and Broadway my Goodness

  • I feel stupid cause I actually used to think this was Cherelle

  • @chelcie3 That would be 'Saturday love' feat Alexander O'neal. Still classic.

  • ....wait whole up 7 people really disliked this lol...

  • This joint still BANGS HARD!!!

No doubt RIP to Frankie Crocker outta the The Spot up north...

  • had to listen to it again lol. tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuune!!!!!!!

  • superb tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • RIP frankie crocker throwing these jams on when i was kid haha

  • Who could have forseen back then that music would ultimately end up in the toilet, as it is today. We need to flush that crap and start creating some monster music oncemore, for old times sake! Let's educate the new generation with what REAL music is!!! Come hear kids, let me introduce you to THIS; the stuff dreams are made of ! ! !

  • i love this damn song!

  • Wasn't sure about this at first, Ms Houston moving into different territory, but so glad I got into it. Tony Prince, Radio Luxembourg, Friday night, The Ultimate Disco Show.

  • me to........

  • I MISS THE 80'S...!

  • who ever said to many lyrics kills a song...! Thelma doing it very nice here! just the right amount of sexy and sassiness!! I miss the '80's

  • Todays music is all about Image verses true talent. Music from the 70's and 80's made you feel good. Most of todays artist are talentless hands down, with the exception of the Neo-Soul artists.

  • TOTAL FECKIN' CLASS.

  • What A Tune

  • She's called a one hit wonder by VH1 with Don't leave me this way? WTF.. This song is a smash HIT

  • the begininng is CREEPY but love this song

  • @iAmMusic0922 Creepy, well thats what make the song work, the more creepier and weirder the introduction the better the song,Jam and lewis, pure geniuses.

  • All these big tunes from my past, just takes me back. I hear what some of you are saying about todays music. Its rare in these times to hear a new track that comes close to them great classic but there is a few out there. Teedra Moses is one example... Be Your Girl.

  • @jewells051: I feel every word in your comment. Today's music does absolutely nothing for me...for some reason i can't feel it. This is the first generation of music i can't get a feel for.

  • Bought this back in the day. Guaranteed Dancefloor Filler at the AllDayers - Clouds in Preston, Rock City Nottingham, PowerHouse Manchester, Tiffanys Leeds etc. Oh what memories and JOY!

  • @snakehips16 i was on the door @ clouds @kevs alldayers , n this was a monsta, great days outstanding music , n i got paid for listening to it all i had to do was wear a dicky bow . ha ha

  • This was the first song on my big brother's bootleg cassette tape recorded off of the radio back in 85. I used to listen to it over and over because I though it was slammin. Never knew who the artist was until I heard it again on GTA Vice City Stories. Somebody as Rockstar Games knows their music.

  • DOPE cut...love this jam, heard it on WBLS in NY sometime last year and haven't stopped playing it since.

  • Killing it!!!!! Jimmy and Terry!!! I love the harmony of the hook!!!! GENIUS!!!! Plus the Groove is just tremendous! Look out Thelma! You still sexy mama!

  • where has music like this gone? cant stand the crap of today

  • Class!

  • Comment removed

  • "...Ohhhhh, how i long for the old good days"

  • Still stands above the crock but mostly cos that undelying beat has ;the hook'

  • @Realness97 Yep :-) It's got that same groove as "You're In My System". In fact, we use to mix the instrumentals from this, "Didn't Mean To Turn You On", and "You're In My System" together, all the time!

  • Music back then had depth, substance, meaningful lyrics, A WHOLE LOT OF CLASS, powerful production, timeless music I swear.... Today, the level of maturity shows, especially in the lack of songwriting, the lack of musicianship, lack of REAL SINGERS..... I can honestly say, I havent been impressed by no one of today, as being standout artists', be it hip hop or RNB. Whatever happend to black music? SMH

  • can we please have music like this back

  • LOL u r so right . I am with u on this. I miss the 80's r&b and the club mixes, my heart bleeds. We need this kind of music to come back. We need some old school producers to come back into the music business.

  • TOTAL GOOSEBUMPS! FUCKIN LEDGE!

  • There is no sound that compares to the intoxicating heavy bass lines and sax combos that soul r &b music from the 80's like this gives.

  • I'm building a time machine who wants to go back to the days of real music

  • take me back in time please!!!!!!miss this music so mutch..dj socksy 1...

  • hmmmmm daaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmmmm love it

  • @ubertroy77 download greasemonkey or just google it

  • my old time favorite dance song of the 80,s.

  • great track from years ago can we remember robbie vincent and the sounds of

sunday night on bbc radio one better than this pop crap.

  • We used to dance to this when it first came out until the sweat was dripping off us like we had been swiming. Those were the days of pure fun and i remember them as if they happened yesterday. She said she longs for the good days....well so do i Ms. Houston. The music today sucks and just don't move you like this era of music. This is the frist generation of music i can't indentify with. I loved some music from my parents and grandparents era and of course my own,but today's mucis is pure crap.

  • Dear God!

  • The music is a product of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis formerly of the Time.

  • Oh yeah....this is a JAM! Especially at 2 in the morning!

  • Jimmy Jam , Terry Lewis & of course Ms. Houston at their very best

  • Kicking The OldSchool and Dropping The Fat Beat !

  • I still play this LP (thankfully I have two of them) !!! Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis crafted an excellent LP for Thelma Houston and it's a shame that it was slept on by so many people back then !!! Every track was a standout !!! I remember those days in the mid 80's when I would hear some of those tracks in the club !!! This reminds me of when I'd visit NYC (where I first heard and purchased the LP) and brought it back to Ohio !!!

  • Oh damn!! This one slipped through the cracks of my mind!! The feel on this joint has a Loose Ends sound to it!! This is a classic 80's joint here!! Thanks to whoever posted this!

  • "Oh how I long for thee, o good days!" -Aint that the truth!!! Longing so much for days gone by with REAL music on the air, night and day! : (

  • Very so fantastic! This is a big fan tune, so love it!!!

  • I love this track, like the good old times! I wish we could go back in time....

  • She ain't by herself i looooooong for the old days too. These days we living in are demonic and twisted. We use to have so much fun without all the violence and fighting. I remember the block parties in Newark,New Jersey and the basement parties we use to have. The music of today is just noise it has no soul and that is why it can't move most ppl. The game has changed and it sucks.

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW . . . DAMN! Haven't heard this in a long time. Why can't radio stations remember to play classic jams like this . . . Thahks for the post.

  • @ced8668 You've got that right!!!

  • I LOVE this song!! I remember being a little girl singin this. I had NO IDEA who it was or who produced it because the dj would NEVER announce the artist let alone the producer.. CLASSIC!!!!

  • this was the first song i tried to remix, lets just say it didnt turn out good. LOL

  • damn shes a fine lady,,, check out " id rather spend the bad times with you" yep

  • Oh man! I thought this was Gwen Guthrie for the longest. I didn't know it was Thelma. I was all up in Bentley's working this thinking it was Gwen. Thanks for the post! BTW, I don't know these ladies even tho I'm acting all familiar. I just used to love jamming to them. Now I know why I could never find this particular song...

  • I remember when this came out.I have always been a Jam & Lewis fan right from the very start and always felt they were way above the rest. When I heard this song, I said to myself if who ever produced this could keep this there are definitely going to be competition to Jam & Lewis. Then song end and the DJ announce Thelma Houston - You Used to Hold Me So Tight produced by Jam & Lewis. To me that confirmed them as the greatest producer in R&B history.

  • chooooon

  • i like old school alot betta
