When i get to the Naval Academy, I will watch this video and compare my hardness to theres. I have no hate for police units or anything. But police training looks just as easy as my taekwondo classes.
@1eddytv With a mentality like yours it would be a miracle if you actually pass the academy. Furthermore, not only are you lacking in courtesy and respect, your grammar, punctuation, and spelling alone will "no-go" you right off the bat. Do yourself, and all the good citizens who happen to live near you, a favor and find a new profession. Perhaps something in the fast food industry?
lozlzlz ohh boyyy omg i will do this anyday then military boot camp lozllz this is like a chocolate cake compared to disgusting hot sauce of military boot camp lzolz....ILL TAKE CAKE :D!
I plan on being a police officer and i had no idea the training was so intense and so long..My big brother is in the united states infrantry and my little brother is going into the marines.. now that i know that i can compare to what they are accomplishing i am proud to say i will one day be a police officer.
ok people. note that more than half of these people in this video are FAT and were virtually walking. its called a run. and if you want to prepare yourself go and look up the Cooper test it will give you general kist of what departments test for when it comes to PT
Is the academy like basic? Like are their DIs screaming down your throat at all times? I know that its rough, but like instructor wise whats it like? Not that its a problem, just curious. Thanks.
That all depends on what Basic. there are two kinds of basic training in the Army. Support and Combat. Police traing may compar to Army support basic but in no way even comes close to any combat MOS's training. All combat mos's are closed to females and 30% wash out, or are injured and recycled before completing basic.
@aaron9555USA well from what i see they dont run in step with eachother the instructers look to be a lot less strict here. i have not been to either yet but i am in jrotc and have had some experence with drill sgts.
@doh1126 well i have been to basic training so i know what thats like. i was askin cuz ive been recruited by my city and so far looks like i made it past everything, just waiting for the final board interview. thanks though :)
@aaron9555USA - its no different, in the academy you wake up at 530 to do a cross country run then you go to the gym and work out, there's boxing and close quarters self defense in the mix to, its 6 months long
@baconlove25 Actually women have a really good chance at getting hired on because they need women to frisk women suspects. Your best option is to get hired on in a jail somewhere and work your way to the road. Don't give up on your dreams! Good luck!
@TheOfficerweber can you still join law enforcement if your wearing a turban? Its part of my relgious belifs, I'm a Sikh. I've always dreamed of becoming a police officer, so i was just wondering if i can still join the police department even though i have a turban and beard.
@jsingh974 Thats a very good question actually. My answer would be yes, all Government jobs are an equal opportunity employer which means you can be any religion. Most departments however require you to be clean shaven but because its part of your religion I'd say it shouldn't be a problem. Good luck to you!
@BETaveras88 the internet, from people, from books, did u catch the 1 girl out of 50 men in this video chances of a woman becoming a police officer... good but getting hired to a police station with all men and the only woman are police assistants who file and type up reports :/ not good
@baconlove25 I'm sorry, but it sounds to me like you're giving up before you even try. Woman are very much needed in this field, imagine all of the domestics officers respond to where woman don't feel comfortable talking to male officers. Females play an important role, and woman are a rising trend in law enforcement. If you are physically, mentally and emotionally set on this job, you WILL make it. So far it seems like the mental aspect has escaped you, you can't be negative about this!
@baconlove25 I just graduated in South Florida. with 5 females in our class. ALL of them are hired. Your chances are really good, as long as you can complete the academy and that your background is relatively clean. GOOD LUCK
Well hello officerweber, PIG! You do realize you rank just below pedophile on the human dignity scale. Now your brainwashing citizens, how nice. Not even a child rapist/predator, who brutally murders a child, do you even compare to. You should have your own island where after your dog gets walked you are subject to clean up his crap, with your tongue. Please don't tell me your a 'good pig' there is no such thing. Bet your assuming I am a criminal, WRONG. Never been arrested!
@UNDERRATEDMCS in albuquerque, we have to run between 3 and 6 miles a day for a 4 day 10 hour academy week schedule. It can reach 6 miles depending on how clean someone's unifom is, if someone arrived late, didnt do their homework, basically the DI can discipline the class as they see fit
@KittyKiimmy If you go to a live-in academy then you will eat the food they provide and not allow you to bring your own food unless you have a medical condition that allows it. Live-in academies are also sunday night through friday afternoon giving you part of friday the entire saturday and part of sunday to be home. It's easy to run if music like this was playing, it gives a rythem and takes your mind off of running. I'm thinking about joining the Sherriffs department, what basics should I expect from the academy?
@MegaSteven16 Basics would include running an average of 5 miles a day, random; pushups, sit-ups, pull-ups, and other various workouts followed by several hours of classroom time learning different laws, codes, ethics, and field techniques. You will also learn advanced driving, shooting, and hand to hand combat. Good luck in your career!
Can I ask you something about police academy?? Do you have to get tazed during police academy; or is it optional? I hear you have to be tazed to carry one. What else do you do there that is painful? I hear a lot of rumors about what goes on. It would mean a lot if you could help me out here. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
@TheInternetIsMagic Depends on which academy you go through. MOST do not make you get tased. When you get hired onto a department they will make you get tased in order to carry one. Same thing with Mace/pepper spray. Mace was optional for those who wanted to do it at our academy. Same thing for getting hired though, if you want to carry it you must get maced.
HAHAHAHAAHA this is a fucking joke I'm 18 and I can easily beat them. That's why I want to become a S.W.A.T. officer but 1st i gotta be the best cop for about 3 years. Looking at this it wont be hard at all.
@MrKevo123 Don't mean to burst your bubble, but you have already failed. If you treat it as a joke, your FTO (if not your instructors) will fail you for being like that. Come back once you have passed your psych exams and polygraphs.
@Shoemagoo I took this as a joke because compared to other departments of the police have a tougher training. I was in the Police Training Academy in high school and we did more than just run. we actually trained with police officers and did what they did to make it into the force. they didn't just light jog. And if i were there running with them i would be way in front and try to speed up
@MrKevo123 My department's training was also more rigorous, but this might have very well just have been a group activity to help bond with your class mates, and to assess the physical abilities of some recruits. In my class 5 people said that a light jog was too easy. 3 weeks in....they were either dropped, because it was seen as though they couldn't handle any future tasks, or they quit because it was more mentally taxing then they had previously thought. I myself am on the SRT unit in Miami.
@devildog10308 If you go in with the mindset like that, you will fail. Maybe not the academy but as a police officer. I know the marines are "the best of the best" but out on the streets, you don't have backup right away you could be one officer taking on a group of people hoping that your one backup officer comes fast enough to save you. Just because this looks easy, doesn't mean it is, which means you've already failed by prejudice. Some young and old marines still had a tough time.
@TheOfficerweber In Riv Calif cops spent more on political influence in 2011 then in the previous 10yrs They've declared war on democracy With union money they own the state legislature Nobody gets elected without cop & prison union approval These civil servants are bankrupting the state but their unions are well organized and well funded We cant stop their destruction of Calif Ironic isn't it, the people cops put in jail could never in a life time do as much damage to our once great state
@devildog10308 It depends on what brand of marine you're talking about. Are you talking about the Pogs or the grunts? Pogs would have a hard time in the academy. The grunt would laugh all the way through it considering he keeps up his conditioning when he is out. Being a police officer is a lot different from being a marine. Most military types who believe they're gifts from upstairs usually get dropped from the hiring process because of that mentality. The macho mindset has to go
@TheOfficerweber Oh I do. I did weight lifting last year, I do regular runs as well. Usually like 3-4 miles. Also, how long in miles was the run in that video?
dont you hate running in groups like that? not only is it annoyingly slow but you look like a bunch of idiots while youre doing it. how about a race to the finish? something demanding. a time limit or something. and whats with the running around the block? bad representation of any police academy
@Stuntman69ish Tough state, with a tough police force, but I lived in Michigan my whole life and planned to be a police officer there, and it's pretty much the same thing. Deff take my advice, or at least go to a police department and ask to speak with a chief on what to do. He will probably tell you what I did :) ha.
im 15 right now and am looking forward to become a police officer right when im out of highschool ;D im going to get my associates degree in criminal justice first though!!
@Stuntman69ish Good choice. And remember that stuff you do now will effect how quickly you will be hired down the road. Keep a clean slate and good luck!
ikr! i decided to be a cop last year and ever since i go to the gym 3 days a week and run my german sheperd everyother day. but i have a question, when i graduate highschool, im going to go to Tri-C for an associates degree in criminal justice but do u think i can go to police academy at the same time im going to college?
@Stuntman69ish Which state do you live in? It all falls on that. Some states require that you have a degree before you can get hired on and go through the academy. Others you just need to go to the academy and you are all set and ready to apply for jobs.
@Stuntman69ish Here is my advice. Go get your degree first. 99% of colleges that do a criminal justice program offer a police academy in which you can get college credits towards your degree. Also if you go through the academy you're going to want to focus all your attention on the academy, and school work on the side would be a distraction.
@Stuntman69ish Some times if you are top of the class then yes. Most of the time it's up to you. However the goal is to get hired on to a department and have them send you through the academy so it doesn't cost you anything. :)
DOUCHE BAGS ..ALL OF YOU ,YOU ALL COMPLETELY IGNORE THE CONSTITUTION AND THE UNALIENABLE RIGHTS GIVEN TO THE PEOPLE YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN HITLERS ARMY.. END OF THIS GOVERNMENT IS COMING WE ALL KNOW IT ..ARE YOU GONNA DO WHAT THE ELITE TELL YOU OUR ARE YOU GOING TO BE A REAL POLICE OFFICER AND PROTECT US FROM THEM DISOBEY YOUR ORDERS AND STOP POLICE BRUTALITY
@TheOfficerweber What would be the BEST pre-requisite for training before fully beginning the Police Academy. I don't want to go in there to whip me into shape, I want to go there to be trained. I'd appreciate it if you could let me know some intelligent steps one would take physically before I enter. Very good video, and a great looking program.
@undress2kill be able to do 45 push ups in sixty seconds, 30 sit ups in sixty seconds, 300 meter run in sixty seconds, and you should be able to bench your own body weight, and do about 10 pull ups easily before entering the Academy. Be prepared to run anywhere from 2 miles a day to about 5 maybe even six. Practice running on all different types of terrain.
@TheOfficerweber Hills up and down, cause you will be tested. If you can run a mile and a half in about 12 minutes your in decent shape. Try to get it down to about 10 minutes and you're golden. Hope this helps. feel free to ask more.
Quick question, no disrespect but is this what they do all day is basically walk around the block a couple times? Because i really want to join the Police Department and if this is the training i might want to do something more physically demanding like SWAT or something of that nature, and how would one go about joining SWAT or maybe the FBI?
@ReversuL FBI is mostly desk and case work. Swat would be the route to take for action, but most of your swat guys are also full time police officers who work swat on off days. Being a police officer is a very fast paced job, with allot of quick thinking and fast reactions. It all depends on where you work to see where the action is. Bigger the city, more action you'll see. To be a member of Swat you must go through a police academy.
:D as soon as flock of seagulls started playing, i had the biggest grin on my face ever. this is a serious question coming from someone in highschool hoping to join the police force when he's older. do i have to shave my head? i heard that it has to be only 1 inch. my hair isnt long but its at the point where i can style it and stuff, i hate having super short hair.
@pagoogly glad you liked the video, and glad you are thinking about a career in Law Enforcement. Shaving your head really depends on what Police Academy you go to. Our police Academy required a "High and Tight" haircut which is what the marines/army have done. Its usually a one and a three. The reason you shave your head when you are in a career like law enforcement is if you get into a struggle your attacker cant grab your hair. Also it make you look more professional.
@TheOfficerweber lol, im currently in the marines right now and ill be damed if someone makes me shave my head because i didnt earn the right to have a medium fade yet. im thinking about the p.d. as well when i get out
@TheUsassassin Depends on what state you live in. When I was in Michigan you had to be 21, but here in TN you only had to be 18. However to get a job in MOST places you have to be 21, but you can be a corrections (jailer) officer at age 18.
@TheUsassassin No prob, good luck with everything. Check with your local police departments or your local police academy (usually at your community college) to find out their requirements.
For my county, you have to run a mile and a half in 11 mins and 45 seconds. These guys couldnt do that for 1 mile. God bless them though for wanting to help the community :) GOD BLESS LAW ENFORCEMENT
I'm planning on going into law enforcement next year and have been working on increasing my endurance through running and other aerobic excercise methods. Just out of curiosity, how far did the recruits in this video run? How far on average will I be required to run for academy training? How quickly should I be able to complete these distances? Thank you very much to anyone who can offer some advice.
@karatefox For the training and running they do in the morning usually is 2 - 3 miles. Its easy, trust me you just need to be able to run 1 mile in less than 8 minutes and you'll be fine. You also will be required to lift 94% of your body weight 1 time during a bench press, so if your 150 pounds, expect to need to lift 145 pounds on bench lifts. Before you go into the academy, it is a 1 year or so application process which you do a written knowledge test, physical agility test, mental health
Thank you very much for the advice. I'm currently able to jog 3 miles at about 7 to 8 minutes per mile. My fastest mile time to date is 5:40. I've been doing a bit of weight lifting and martial arts training, though I haven't tried bench pressing at all. As per your recommendation, I shall incorporate that into my training. Thanks again for sharing your advice :)
@karatefox yeah no problem. Again, some Police departments aren't hiring now due to the economy and some officers arent retiring at 25 years of service, but dont get down on yourself if a department denies you or doesnt get back to you on the application you put in, just keep trying and give it all you got!! Remember, being a police officer is dangerous work, and being nice, and showing a helping hand to the public will always benefit you, your department, and the citizens better in the end :)
@karatefox check, and you need to know this important, actually thee most important tip.. DONT LIE!! you lie, you will never be hired. You can also check out the minimum requirements for your county, city, jurisdiction by going on the website for that areas law enforcement. Most academy's wont be this easy as this is for a small town, most academy's fail about 25% of the recruits. You need to study, get in shape, and tell the truth to become an officer. If you have any more questions, just ask..
So this is what I have to look forward to in a few years. I am so scared right now.

@devildog10308 Marines motto: SIR YOU CAN KICK MY ASS ANY DAY OF THE WEEK SIR!
yingdiskette 5 months ago

Zeppination 6 months ago
@Zeppination this was a group jog of about 6 miles. Keep in mind we ran up and down steep hills.

dont you hate running in groups like that? not only is it annoyingly slow but you look like a bunch of idiots while youre doing it. how about a race to the finish? something demanding. a time limit or something. and whats with the running around the block? bad representation of any police academy

Stuntman69ish 7 months ago
@Stuntman69ish Good choice. And remember that stuff you do now will effect how quickly you will be hired down the road. Keep a clean slate and good luck!

@TheOfficerweber
ikr! i decided to be a cop last year and ever since i go to the gym 3 days a week and run my german sheperd everyother day. but i have a question, when i graduate highschool, im going to go to Tri-C for an associates degree in criminal justice but do u think i can go to police academy at the same time im going to college?
Stuntman69ish 7 months ago
@Stuntman69ish Which state do you live in? It all falls on that. Some states require that you have a degree before you can get hired on and go through the academy. Others you just need to go to the academy and you are all set and ready to apply for jobs.
TheOfficerweber 7 months ago
@Stuntman69ish Here is my advice. Go get your degree first. 99% of colleges that do a criminal justice program offer a police academy in which you can get college credits towards your degree. Also if you go through the academy you're going to want to focus all your attention on the academy, and school work on the side would be a distraction.
TheOfficerweber 7 months ago
@TheOfficerweber
ohhh alright thanks alot! after i ge my degree and graduate police academy, does the academy find me a police job?
Stuntman69ish 7 months ago
@Stuntman69ish Some times if you are top of the class then yes. Most of the time it's up to you. However the goal is to get hired on to a department and have them send you through the academy so it doesn't cost you anything. :)

Cool video, the music chosen should be a crime, but other than that it was a good video to get a chance to see what is expected at academy

illuminated775 9 months ago
@TheOfficerweber What would be the BEST pre-requisite for training before fully beginning the Police Academy. I don't want to go in there to whip me into shape, I want to go there to be trained. I'd appreciate it if you could let me know some intelligent steps one would take physically before I enter. Very good video, and a great looking program.
P.S. About how many miles are ran daily?
undress2kill 9 months ago
@undress2kill be able to do 45 push ups in sixty seconds, 30 sit ups in sixty seconds, 300 meter run in sixty seconds, and you should be able to bench your own body weight, and do about 10 pull ups easily before entering the Academy. Be prepared to run anywhere from 2 miles a day to about 5 maybe even six. Practice running on all different types of terrain.
TheOfficerweber 9 months ago
@TheOfficerweber Hills up and down, cause you will be tested. If you can run a mile and a half in about 12 minutes your in decent shape. Try to get it down to about 10 minutes and you're golden. Hope this helps. feel free to ask more.
TheOfficerweber 9 months ago
Quick question, no disrespect but is this what they do all day is basically walk around the block a couple times? Because i really want to join the Police Department and if this is the training i might want to do something more physically demanding like SWAT or something of that nature, and how would one go about joining SWAT or maybe the FBI?
ReversuL 9 months ago
@ReversuL FBI is mostly desk and case work. Swat would be the route to take for action, but most of your swat guys are also full time police officers who work swat on off days. Being a police officer is a very fast paced job, with allot of quick thinking and fast reactions. It all depends on where you work to see where the action is. Bigger the city, more action you'll see. To be a member of Swat you must go through a police academy.

This was is awful "training", I hope the training picks up or some of them wont make it :\

:D as soon as flock of seagulls started playing, i had the biggest grin on my face ever. this is a serious question coming from someone in highschool hoping to join the police force when he's older. do i have to shave my head? i heard that it has to be only 1 inch. my hair isnt long but its at the point where i can style it and stuff, i hate having super short hair.
pagoogly 10 months ago
@pagoogly glad you liked the video, and glad you are thinking about a career in Law Enforcement. Shaving your head really depends on what Police Academy you go to. Our police Academy required a "High and Tight" haircut which is what the marines/army have done. Its usually a one and a three. The reason you shave your head when you are in a career like law enforcement is if you get into a struggle your attacker cant grab your hair. Also it make you look more professional.
TheOfficerweber 10 months ago
@TheOfficerweber lol, im currently in the marines right now and ill be damed if someone makes me shave my head because i didnt earn the right to have a medium fade yet. im thinking about the p.d. as well when i get out

im only 20yrs old can i goto a police academy?
TheUsassassin 1 year ago
@TheUsassassin Depends on what state you live in. When I was in Michigan you had to be 21, but here in TN you only had to be 18. However to get a job in MOST places you have to be 21, but you can be a corrections (jailer) officer at age 18.
TheOfficerweber 1 year ago
@TheOfficerweber thnks for you response
TheUsassassin 1 year ago
@TheUsassassin No prob, good luck with everything. Check with your local police departments or your local police academy (usually at your community college) to find out their requirements.

Does prior military experience help if one wants to become a Police Officer, and later after the set selection time, a SWAT officer?
GunsOfThePhoenix 1 year ago
For my county, you have to run a mile and a half in 11 mins and 45 seconds. These guys couldnt do that for 1 mile. God bless them though for wanting to help the community :) GOD BLESS LAW ENFORCEMENT

there going so slow that would drive me crazy.
j0nb0y5 1 year ago
I'm planning on going into law enforcement next year and have been working on increasing my endurance through running and other aerobic excercise methods. Just out of curiosity, how far did the recruits in this video run? How far on average will I be required to run for academy training? How quickly should I be able to complete these distances? Thank you very much to anyone who can offer some advice.

karatefox 1 year ago
@karatefox For the training and running they do in the morning usually is 2 - 3 miles. Its easy, trust me you just need to be able to run 1 mile in less than 8 minutes and you'll be fine. You also will be required to lift 94% of your body weight 1 time during a bench press, so if your 150 pounds, expect to need to lift 145 pounds on bench lifts. Before you go into the academy, it is a 1 year or so application process which you do a written knowledge test, physical agility test, mental health
Mightylite94 1 year ago
@Mightylite94
Thanks again for sharing your advice :)

karatefox 1 year ago
@karatefox yeah no problem. Again, some Police departments aren't hiring now due to the economy and some officers arent retiring at 25 years of service, but dont get down on yourself if a department denies you or doesnt get back to you on the application you put in, just keep trying and give it all you got!! Remember, being a police officer is dangerous work, and being nice, and showing a helping hand to the public will always benefit you, your department, and the citizens better in the end :)
Mightylite94 1 year ago
@karatefox check, and you need to know this important, actually thee most important tip.. DONT LIE!! you lie, you will never be hired. You can also check out the minimum requirements for your county, city, jurisdiction by going on the website for that areas law enforcement. Most academy's wont be this easy as this is for a small town, most academy's fail about 25% of the recruits. You need to study, get in shape, and tell the truth to become an officer. If you have any more questions, just ask..
