Hey @jdtornabe love the video! Did u ever make the movie? I play stickball(as you play it) out here in Queens, NY. What I love about it is that it simplifies baseball into its purest elements: Pitching and Hitting. I'm very interested in widening our circle of competition, and it looks like you've got a good crew. Where are you guys from? We play mostly during the summer, and have occasional tournaments, but would love to meet more people with the kind of passion you have. Hit me up
WTF - playing stick ball with gloves and a tennis ball? This isn't how you play, first no gloves, you're a wussy if you use gloves. Use your bare hands. Second you use a Spalding ball and a mop stick. Third you play in the street where parked cars are 1st and 3rd base and the sewer is 2nd base and you get interrupted from the traffic every now and then. Now that's stick ball and that's the way I played growing up in the Bronx in the 60's and 70's. Gloves - give me a break . . .
@Hogrider06 lemme guess you dont even have a league right? these rules are only in emulation of the nations largest stickball league mlsb straight from queens new york. lighten up. go back to the 1960's or whatever
Toronto is playing this game more than ever. we call wallball or burby. Check us out @
HTOsports. com/burby. Or check out all our photos on facebook (toronto burby league) better yet, lets rally a stickball tournament across toronto/new york! We got 30 players strong that would go to ny to play a tourney. Check out the facebook and website, lemme know what you think.
Man I love stickball I remember playing with my bro in PS 19 queens NYC. No body could beat us when we played together!.. My bro had a nasty change and breaking ball, and I froze them cats with knuckel balls. But pitching with the light tennis ball with time will kill your arm, on the reals;-)
When I was a Kid in the south Bronx there were official stickball bats. Though the poor kids played with broom or mop handles. The official ball was a Spalding pink hollow rubber ball. (Circa 1960's and 70's)
I played stickball in the 1960's. Yes that appears over 40 years ago. I hit home runs batting left handed and right handed. We usually played automatic hits in certain areas and we did have fielders too. We played on Long Island.
