  • could u get some help here pls. im soo close, im doing everything right with my feet, they plant correctly and i kick them well. however, i feel that im doing somethign wrong with my hands, like im not pushing off hard enough. its either that or that im pushing off with my hands at the wrong time(i think its this one). any advive on when to push off with your hands?

  • Epic's kip up tutorial is great for the purpose of getting the basics covered, but if anyone wants to progress further, I have a tutorial that focuses on maximising the hang time you get off of your kip up so that you land with your legs as straight as possible to attain that extra clean look

  • Good tutorial, and i like how you end it with "I didnt have anyone to teach me" and "play with it" ... best advice for anything like this. We all have different bodies, and what works for some doesnt work for others.

  • it is a pretty easy move actually. i though it is hard, but that was before really :) Now i can do it easely. Just don't start on the floor, where there is cement or wood or something. First try to do it on the bed, where it's soft. What you want to do if you want a perfect kick up, is to use your hands at first. IF you learn it , then go on as you wish. But for the begginers, use your hands. It's not hard at all, you don't need to push very hard... just use them, you won't get up by your self

  • I dislocated my patella doing this lol. Just a bad combo of socks on a floor with bad grip, lower half of leg slipped to one side and... pop.

  • When I try this, I keep on making myself go too far forward. So basically, I almost do a front flip from my back... haha, Any suggestions on how to land on my feet, not my face. By the way, thanks for making this. I couldnt do a kip up all that well before, but you make some great tutorials.

  • @shawkins3971 To be honest. At my first try my stomach, neck, legs and back hurt a lot. But as time passed by, I recovered & Pain was no more.Now, it feels natural. So, It is better to first recover, but still train hard.

  • take your legs behind head and use cinetic power stand up.. i learned it in 5 minit on bed.. and on 6. min i dont need use arms.. only with cinetic power and legs ;)

    keep training.. never give up ;)

  • When I started I was afraid to even kick and always landed on my back when I did kick and here I am now, Kip up is second nature, and can do rubberbands, no handed, etc pretty easily.

So, I can do all but I'm in the situation that you explain from 3:10 minutes. I can't understand what you said, can you write what you said? This will help me a lot.

  • @123ismail1231 not EXTREMELY flexible, but you should be able to be in a back bridge position and do a crunch

    this move is actually pretty easy, just try it on your bed first or something like that :P

  • @123ismail1231 No, just get the guts to try it & flexibility will follow. Although it gets easier to learn if flexible enough but it's not compulsion.

  • @123ismail1231 False! I have seen a 28 year old guy started doing splits and after 2 years he was able to do it. Flexibility is something many lack but if you train hard it will be yours eventually.

  • @Thsezar i am 14 now, so how long do you think it will take for me learn how to do the splits because people say you can learn it within a week and some say that you learn it within a month.

  • @123ismail1231 It depends on How much you train, how you train. You may take 2 weeks but you may also take two years or more. Since you're young start now & stop worrying about the future. Eventually it will come. " It takes years to get perfect splits & years longer to apply it " Master Ugway

  • @dominicaquino22 lolz You answered your first question already. To find ur second... pay attention to your body and feel it... control ur momentum.

  • @dominicaquino22 Perhaps you didn't hook your feet tightly, if you did you would have fall forwards rather than backwards.

  • I would not recommend doing this in a combat situation. With most martial arts you learn a backward roll. If you land on your back, so your falling backwards. Finishing that with a backward roll is much more natural then a kip up. I learn how to do it because its stylish. Like most of us I think. :-)

  • @TheHennProductions if it makes u feel any better the first time i tried, I too landed on my back. =D

    But go back to the drills and keep doing those to build the control and muscle memory... and work your way back up.

    good tutorial, but i think you could improve your kip up. your are landing very low :) i think if you try to look back as long as you can you arch your back and land straight up. looks much more impressive and feels better. :) just try it its reaaally easy if you can do a normal kip up :D

  • @Zuionify I'll have to try this idea should I ever take the kip up more seriously. I just don't fancy the trick... but I'll try ur idea out and see the difference.
