@MoreParksLessParking I hope on your fucking life that was a joke, Justin Bieber is one of the reasons real music is slowly dying, where as bands like The Cure show us at one point in time music was actually fucking decent. To me this song solidifys real music, real passion, real emotion.
This is a great song, I'm not going to write paragraphs and fancy sentences with long words, I'm not going to mention what time I listened to it or I had my first kiss to this song because honestly all I need to say is....This is a great song
I played this album (cd) so many times it was scratched and this was the one song that wouldn't play it's been FOREVER since I've heard it till tonight thank u form the bottom of my broken <3
This song and band sucks dick! They use a computer to make their music, and they use autotune, and all their fanbase are 13 year old girls who like the band just because of looks! Listen to Justin bieber! He uses REAL instruments in his songs and does not use autotune! and all his fanbase is intellegent 30+ aged adults! spread the word!
Richard Mathew Waller, I know you know this. This is the last album you heard when you left this place. Every time I play this album I think of you. You know I will always love you forever and always. This is always going to be OUR album. I hope you have the Heavan you deserve because you were my angel when you where here. When ever I hear the Cure I always think of you. I love you and miss you so much. Can't wait to see you again. .OXOX3>
lets be honest, the cure puts words and sounds to the unspeakable depths of depression.... the depravity of the lyrics is our zone, "Feeling the monster Climb deeper inside of me Feeling him gnawing my heart away hungrily"... life turned me into a monster... so I feel these lyrics, in a special way you now? Life made me want to be a monster, to escape this feeling...this never ending sensitivity, my satellite is too strong...
Con este disco, recuerdo muchisimo a mi hermano mayor, el tenia sus 15, y yo era una chiqilla....y para mi, el mejor disco de The Cure....grupazo!!! genio Robert Smith!!!!
This is such a beautiful album. In my opinion the greatest of all time. Everything I've ever thought about life and relationships Robert Smith says in this album. I feel he wrote the entire album for me.
Also people who say this was their last great album Wish is amazing as well. Edge of the deep green sea and letter to Elise are stunning.
"Never quite said what I wanted to say to you, never quite managed the words to explain to you, never quite knew how to make them believable and now the time has gone, another time undone......"
THIS....still counts.

Whoever has ever been in love unhappily will love this song.
the best album ever recorded , and it all came or was inspired (i should think) by Joy Division`s Atmosphere , GOD bless Ian Curtis , He is in Heaven with His Main Man , The Good Sheperd , His Majesty , The LORD JESUS . Peace Friends x

Just finished listening to the whole album (sometimes I multi-task with Spotify and listen to albums I've never fully heard before). Being a huge fan of this band, I'm asking myself 'why the fuck didn't I listen this brilliant work of art a long time ago?'
This is the perfect way to end an album stringed with gloomy tracks - closing it in a warm vibe of tranquility. I know many hail this as The Cure's magnum opus, but Disintegration should be listed as one of the greatest albums of all time.
I've been listening to this song for over 20 years and I can't get tired of it...
...And, in my very personal oppinion, I don't think Rober Smith make music to deliver a message or to be understand, I don't even that he understands himself, but that definatly doesn't interfierd with his ability to make BEAUTIFUL music.

I've never really been able to get into The cure. I feel that the songs that they are best known for do not resemble who they really are. They are considered to be where the whole emo genre started. Furthermore, they are pretty depressing and dark. However, songs like "lovesong", "Just Like Heaven", and "Friday I'm In Love" are nothing like that. However, I don't see the big hype about them.
@RajaMCool Who told you The Cure started the emo genre? Thats bullshit. The Cure were postpunk in their beginning days. Postpunk was a genre that had a pretty grim and dark edge to it. @HawK047 Well, I am just saying that the songs that they are celebrated for like "Friday" and "Just Like Heaven" are not really anything to who they really are and true fans of the cure resonate with the more darker depressing songs. During the 80s and 90s a common indicator of teenage depression was incessant listening to the songs by them.
This should have been the last song ever heard droning through our speakers as it was originally meant to be. The perfect heartbreaking kiss goodbye to a an incredible legacy that touched and influenced so many. I'm so grateful to have seen them live on their Disintegration tour. The last of the true Cure albums, and a true masterpiece.
ok PlaysPrettyForBaby3 since you are only like 16 and never experienced real life. what do you think is talked about when velvety feelings are mentioned or coldness. is b/c he was wearing a velvet sweater and cold. hmm...
or because it is a reference to heroin. kind of like guns n roses, the gun is the needle and the rose is the prick or velvet revolver, where the revolver is the needle and the results feel velvety.
We played this song around eight times driving away from LA in the Cold of the morning, towards the Sun Rise, with nothing in my mind but reflections of life & N,N,Dimethyltryptamine, procuring one of the most beautiful, tear filled glimpses at meaning I've ever had the luck of witnessing in life. & yet all of these memories, feelings & understandings are left to fade with the course of time.

This album, apart from being fantastic in its own right, will always hold a special meaning for me. It was the last album I bought before I left Ireland in 1989. It abated my homesickness, because every play transported me to another place, and, although much of the album is melancholic, I always came out of my reverie curiously refreshed and optimistic. Thanks lads.

lol....all the talk about the drugs...doesn't sound like any trip i would want to go on....and i used to eat acid like it was candy when i was younger. the album is a masterpiece...and one of the most profoundly intense, both musically and lyrically. it helped me through one of the most emotionally turbulent times of my adult life...the passing of my mother at the age 54. i was 24 at the time. thank you robert and gang...i love you and your music....all of it :)
when you question wether everyone's on drugs, all i can wonder is what is wrong with YOU, for not appreciate this sublime music. I mean if you want to get technical, if you don't accept robert smith because you hate drugs and feel it necessary to categorize people, then ... why are you listening to this at all? if you don't believe in the people who made it? this is a paradox~
Well for me this music will always remember my grandfather's death, cause I was leastening to this album at the car when i was going to is funeral... Nevertheless I love this music.. is breathtaking and at the same time very sad...
Its seems like all the good music on Youtube has comments about drug use. My question is this: Do you like the music b/c you're on drugs? Or are you on drugs b/c of the music?
this song really puts me into a moment of frustration, depression, desolation and every lonely feeling that every one is feeling...Hmmmm...wish I could see these guys play this song LIVE... :) really, really BEAUTIFUL...
omg people making accusations about Robert what drug he was using..were you on tour with him? Were you a close friend of his? Did you ring each other everynight and offer therapy lessons?? No you are or were a listening audience. Who cares what substance he was using Disintergaration is one of the brilliant albumns ever created along side New Orders Substance.
@laurenk37 They aren't really 'making accusations', Robert has openly stated that he did LSD and coke during the making of this album and the Prayers for Rain tour, because he was severely depressed. In a way, Its a good thing he did though, because he wrote half the songs whilst on something, and they all turned out absolutely incredible.
@minusthebear4 yeah man definately now that ive found out he did lsd making this it completely makes sense. i can see how this would have influenced the songs and made the album what it is.
You sir are the retard. This song is about what the listener interpret it to be. If it fits a situation in their life then let them feel/express that, if they feel its about anything then let them be entitled to their opinion. So don't come off calling people retards.
He was for sure addicted. I would love to believe he could write what he did sober. If you would like I will explain how the down fall of the Cure is due to sobriety. maybe on a more sober night. You are an idiot none the less
@menudomaker, as @The1ne07 said, it's about the way people interpret it to their life. Is there something you're trying to tell us all by your interpretation?
Also, if you're not sure about what you're talking about, don't say it and don't call everyone else retards. You, yourself, come off like a complete retard.
Wow, the cure are so full of hidden jems; its great! The first song i ever heard by the cure wasFFriday im in love and didn't really like it, but the other day my ceramics teacher put on this album and i had to know who it was. It was the Cure.
:/ The Cure. My favorite band for so many reasons. If I had to pick one band for my life's sound track it would be The Cure. Just waiting for Friday i'm in Love.........
Went thru the loss of my soulmate in '90 and have been alone ever since. Listening to this album (this song in particular) helped me give up hope and realize I'm a loser and deserve to suffer. Hey thanks Robert! Seriously tho, that's exactly what happened. Share your pathetic stories here. ...
hauntingly beautiful, disintegration such an amazing album, haven't listened to this song for years, it got me through a really bad time in 1994 ~ not listened to it since, brought tears to my eyes hearing it again
aaahhhhh the cure, first band i've ever heard. i grew up with it, loved it once, love it still, always have, always will. there is no 1 word that describes this band. it's just so.... ( ) see?? i can't describe it! and i love Robert's voice, i was extremely happy he came out on the Almost Alice soundtrack. ♥CureFanForever♥
this is the real cure sound, friday im in love, just like heaven etc are fantastic songs, but nothing compared to all of Disintegration. I know people who say their cure fans because they've heard a couple of their mainstream stuff, but true cure fans crave this sound aswell as roberts romantisizing voice, long live the cure <3
@watson1232 totally agree there lots of peeps who have probs havent even listened to the disintegration album and i just have to say there missing out because robert smith is a downright fricken musical genius :D <3
these comments are so weak compared to this song. I cant even comment to this song except to say that its perfect. Absolutely without exception perfect... I Love Robert Smith, I love the cure....I love this album..........its the one I call on, in my darkest times...
You know, there was a time in my life that this song described (almost perfectly) a situation that I was going through. I listened to it this a lot then and I think that it helped me through that time. I love this song, but I'm so glad this period of my life is over. This song is almost the very definition of "melancholy", in my opinion.
@rogersstevenr I feel you, its quite nostalgic listening to this song now days and looking back at the situation I was goint through when I used to listen to this. I don't regret it though, because the music is beautiful, even if I felt quite depressed at the time , people have to get stronger through experience, so I considered just as part of my life :)
I always say that I love Depeche Mode, they are my favorite band. Than I say the same thing about The Smiths. THEN, I listen to this song. With songs like this, The Cure is my favorite band! Man, I am just confused...
love love love the cure <3 amazing for broken mending hearts

You sir are correct.
Emo did not start at the Cure.
And really do genres matter though? All songs could be considered emo that have any signs of emotion in them.
It's just a stupid term that is being used as a bad thing. Yet those people go listen to a ballad of some sort and think it's not "Emotional".

omg people making accusations about Robert what drug he was using..were you on tour with him? Were you a close friend of his? Did you ring each other everynight and offer therapy lessons?? No you are or were a listening audience. Who cares what substance he was using Disintergaration is one of the brilliant albumns ever created along side New Orders Substance.
laurenk37 1 year ago 3
@laurenk37 They aren't really 'making accusations', Robert has openly stated that he did LSD and coke during the making of this album and the Prayers for Rain tour, because he was severely depressed. In a way, Its a good thing he did though, because he wrote half the songs whilst on something, and they all turned out absolutely incredible.
minusthebear4 1 year ago 2
@minusthebear4 yeah man definately now that ive found out he did lsd making this it completely makes sense. i can see how this would have influenced the songs and made the album what it is.
anaemiabag 1 year ago
@anaemiabag yeah exactly, in a weird way, thank god for lsd!

you people are retarded. it's about his heroin addiction and how he's not going back to it.
menudomaker 1 year ago
@menudomaker
You sir are the retard. This song is about what the listener interpret it to be. If it fits a situation in their life then let them feel/express that, if they feel its about anything then let them be entitled to their opinion. So don't come off calling people retards.

@The1ne07 have you heard caesar palace - 1ne?
cerealkiller97 10 months ago
@menudomaker he was never addicted to heroin, he did lsd though the entire recording of this album to fight the depression
eusef11236 1 year ago 20
@eusef11236
That is also true. Rob did coke and lsd during the making of the album and Prayer tour(he also got pretty hammered)
The1ne07 1 year ago 4
@eusef11236
He was for sure addicted. I would love to believe he could write what he did sober. If you would like I will explain how the down fall of the Cure is due to sobriety. maybe on a more sober night. You are an idiot none the less
hell1134 1 year ago
@hell1134 lol what downfall
GermanPeoplePerson 1 year ago
@eusef11236 and im certain his depression was the result of drug addiction... how do you fight drug addiction with more wine and drugs?
utek11 8 months ago
@eusef11236 I would not advise LSd under depression
instereo007 5 months ago
@menudomaker, as @The1ne07 said, it's about the way people interpret it to their life. Is there something you're trying to tell us all by your interpretation?
Also, if you're not sure about what you're talking about, don't say it and don't call everyone else retards. You, yourself, come off like a complete retard.

Went thru the loss of my soulmate in '90 and have been alone ever since. Listening to this album (this song in particular) helped me give up hope and realize I'm a loser and deserve to suffer. Hey thanks Robert! Seriously tho, that's exactly what happened. Share your pathetic stories here. ...

( ) see?? i can't describe it! and i love Robert's voice, i was extremely happy he came out on the Almost Alice soundtrack. ♥CureFanForever♥

there isnt one word that can totally and perfectly describe the cure's music
i love robert smith and his ideas and songs and everything about that man
asweetdreamnextnight 1 year ago 3
this is the real cure sound, friday im in love, just like heaven etc are fantastic songs, but nothing compared to all of Disintegration. I know people who say their cure fans because they've heard a couple of their mainstream stuff, but true cure fans crave this sound aswell as roberts romantisizing voice, long live the cure <3

You know, there was a time in my life that this song described (almost perfectly) a situation that I was going through. I listened to it this a lot then and I think that it helped me through that time. I love this song, but I'm so glad this period of my life is over. This song is almost the very definition of "melancholy", in my opinion.
rogersstevenr 1 year ago 8
@rogersstevenr I feel you, its quite nostalgic listening to this song now days and looking back at the situation I was goint through when I used to listen to this. I don't regret it though, because the music is beautiful, even if I felt quite depressed at the time , people have to get stronger through experience, so I considered just as part of my life :)
