I have a potted aloe vera plant and for the first year put it in direct sun, it grew "ok" however I decided to change locations from the north side to the south side (partial sun) and noticed the leaves grew in thicker, and juicer, and quantity. I seem to have 6 additional plants, so it is ready for transplant, and separating, which I have no idea how to do. oh well.
LOL. If it's very easy to grow then how come our plants keep on dying? Is it because the sun is way to hot for the plants, because Saudi Arabia is very hot.
I thought that it was a bad idea to put your plant in full, direct sun. I have heard if you are using the plant for medicinal purposes this is true especially, because you will burn the plant when the sun heats up the water molecules inside of the leaves...
@WatercolorLoving I guess it depends on the plant, the plants I have like indirect Sun or direct Sun for short periods of time, otherwise they seem to get burned, just experiment. Alot of people say indirect sun, others say direct, maybe it depends how big the plant is as well. This has been my experience.
@omg0what0happened you have to cut tge leaf closest to the bottom of the plant with a knife or sharp scissors. You can put a little in the soil and use the rest for something else. It should grow quickly
Question: I don't have this plant, but my friend does and is willing to give me a cutting, but neither of us know where to cut. How can give me a part that I can replant in my house??? :O
i think i over watered my aloe vera. its roots rotted and then the whole plant just fell apart! what do i do? can i just bury the leaves in soil and it will grow again?
medicinal uses...can i smoke it!!

I water my aloe houseplant once every week or two and only use like 100-ish milliliters.
It's about 8 inches tall and seems fine.

Thanks Yolanda for the information. I never knew aloe vera plants were related to lilies and onions and considered a vegetable.
I have an aloe plant that is growing out of control and looked here for some info for planting. The drainage tips are very helpful.
