The problem is that nobody here really has any facts. Dave has said on multiple occasions that he doesn't like to discuss the meaning of his songs, so since nobody else REALLY knows what it means, it's up to interpretation.

@Bronxboyproductions Actually, I think the song is about the death of Dave's sister. She was murdered by her husband and he commited suicide right after. I believe the ticking time bomb is the husband. No one would have expected him to have every committed such a terrible act. It has been said that Dave has never gotten over this horrid crime.

I can't really tell, but I think the first part of the verse is about bottling up your anger and no one knows what you are suffering until you have a meltdown and blow up in someone's face.
