  • wow.............

  • You are a genius... i swear thank you.

  • Dude!..great job!...xD

  • great guitar

  • AMAZING TEACHER. You Rock!

  • David, I have a question re: the Gmaj7 chord that is formed as 3XOOO2. How do you skip over the A string while strumming that chord? I'm still new to this! Thanks.

  • You have to mute the A string. That means you don't actually skip over the string while strumming, but you have it muted so it doesn't make any sound. This can be done by just slightly touching the string so it doesn't ring out. You can either mute it by the finger that is pressing down the low E string. So you're pressing down the string and with the rest of your finger only touching the A string. Or you can lay another finger on it.

  • Thank you, Stardreamer.

  • @nomadsroad no need to skip as the second finger silences it

  • omfg i love it

  • this guy is great....good teacher

  • You rock, Dave

  • i am learning to play an acoustic guitar,it's hard but i love it,,and ur the best teacher i have ever seen, i am working on changing between the major chords..i can't give much time because of the exams that m going to have next month but i do practice for at least 30 mins a day....u rock

  • I love these chords but I don't think they go too good with normal major chords. Thats just me.

  • that's a really narrow statement. Close to stupid.

  • do you think starting guitar at age 36 is a waste of time?

  • no. You can never be old to play an instrument.

  • Thanks friend for responding!

  • heck no, your never to old

  • you guys are all awsome for replying thanks alot, i'll definately be picking guitar back up again ! ;)

  • makes sense.never saw anbody who can play the acoustic dress like that.

  • learn to spell before you insult someone...

  • beautiful lol

  • when u say that for the chord u need the root 3rd and 7th or wateva.. what scale do u use?

  • drinu93

he is usin the standard major scale, it doesn't matter in what key, the pattern is the same.

  • fabulous :D:D:D:D:D:P:P:P:P but im only a beginner x

  • You're awesome bro'. Your students are lucky to have you!

  • thanks, really helped, just wrote a song in the seventh and was tottaly stuck until now.what can I say I'm still new to this. :)

  • thx , preparing for rocking!

  • For some reason these chords remind me of Zelda Ocarina of Time. So peaceful

  • So true, the opening of OoT came to mind as soon as he played the first chord.

  • what kind of microphone is he using?

i hate to sound like a noob, but i'm new to recording. once you have the microphone, where do you plug it into? i only have a computer. i don't have any studio equipment. (suppose i'm using a shure sm57)

  • into your mic in jack. should be next to your audio in jack.

  • sounds really futuristic :)

  • thanks a lot:)

  • ty sir

  • You forgot : Hello Good People! :))

  • Another great video! Thanks.

  • beautiful :)

  • C2 and A2 are my favorites of dreamy chords! ^^

  • Cheers David \m/

  • WOW...and to think I spent $100s to "try and learn" what you just made make sense in 11 minutes! Thanks for the videos...I'll be digging deeper into your site.

  • Wow, I almost lost faith in your teaching. This video is a huge improvement. More vids like this and you will be giving Marty a run for his money.

  • yup i agree ...lately the lessons have been very vague ...kind of running around the bush ...looks like the original intention for the YT videos is back

  • That acoustic looks brand spanking new, look at that shine. Love the pretty open maj7ths, very Beatles, and they work better on acoustic for me. Nicely done David, as always.

  • I really enjoy your videos!

  • Thanks A lot Guys ......-_-

  • GrrrrrreAtest teacher,channel :D

THANK U SOOO MUCH really gr8 work :D

  • ive been playing for a couple years but i still come back to some of these beginner lessons to learn something that i might have missed when i was learning

  • This is very useful, but can someday explain to me what's the meaning of the numbers when he says for example "7th chord - 1, 3, 5, b7"? What is that? :P Sorry, I'm spanish and I'm not very used to that kind of names and stuff... Thanks in advance, you good people, hahahaha.

  • They represent the different notes of the major scale in said key. Like, the 1st (root) of C Major would be a C, the 3rd would be a E, a 5th would be a G and the b7 (flat 7th) would be a Bb, making a Dominant chord.

  • Thanks for helping me to understand something more of guitar theory! :P

  • my pleasure, hope it helped a bit.

  • those are the numbers of the notes in the scale.. the dominant seventh chord has a flat seventh whereas the major seventh chord has a natural seventh. so a CM7 chord would be 1 3 5 7 or C D G B and a C7 chord would be 1 3 5 b7 or C D G Bb.

  • Those number correspond to the notes in the scale. For example, a C 7th chord has: 1=C, 3=E, 5=G, and b7 is B flat.

  • soo soft ^^

  • Do you guys have some more advanced, more theory kinda based stuff on youtube?

  • Yes - look through our older youtube lessons - also check the advanced and theory sections on our instructional website at next level guitar dotcom

    rock on!

    DT

  • What guitar is he using? :) cuz i loove the tone of it :)

  • The guitar I use in this lesson in a Taylor GS5 - cedar top model

    rock on!

    David T

  • that's a pretty deep resonating essence, as i heard of fro the video..

  • yay! :) thank youu!!

you guys are so awesome! :)

    loove your videos :)

  • d to dmaj7 sounds like the song kiss me.

  • Thats actually a capo on third, C, Cm7 and C7. One key up from D and Dmaj7 with other words :-)

  • very cool !!!
