the crowd singing the chorus thing is amazing when you're actually at the live show, but only the first one or two choruses. tom delong did the same thing in the first chorus of there is to make the crowd feel powerful and like they're a part of it, but then he sang the other ones cuz in the end, everyone's there to see the band, not the crowd.

Hey, there is a cure for not being able to sing the high notes: Simply don't write new songs with high notes in them. Rob thomas can't hit the high notes either and he still sounds great, maybe even better, because he always sings in his range rather than trying to write songs he can't sing live. That way you never notice it.

I love and idolized John and the dedication and "it" factor he possesses on stage. He used to be able to reach it, then he got vocal nodules (a disease of the voice box), then had them removed and the surgery still affects him. His lower registrar is great, but he's probably lost like a quarter to a third of an octave of range. :) Still the greatest musician alive.
