Nelson Mandela ended his presidency in 1999; he's still alive. AIDS was identified in the 1980s although there was a significant epidemic in Africa starting in the 1990s.
Survivor is 2000s! Cheers is more of an '80s show than a '90s one as well. Van Halen is also '80s (even beginning in 1978!) U2 is '80s. And Bad-era Michael Jackson is EIGHTIES! G.I. Joe is also '80s! Not a bad video; just a little too much '80s (plus Survivor) seeking into this '90s set.

G.I. Joe toy was re-released in the 90's and one of the 2 tv shows was from 89-91. So yes some things did exist in the 80's but still carried influence into the 90's.
