i raced karts with a yamaha from the late 70's into the 80's the dual yamaha karts never had more than 8 or 10 karts at my track but man they were fast and all the drivers were very very good....great racing we was on dirt and going in circles...it was something to see back then.....i never ran duals but i loved to watch em race
@JGMagoo, Yes, The More Modern Go Karts ,Are Quick ,They handle better and will get through the corners faster, These are modified, And Are Runnin On Fuel buddy, These (If Built Correctly) Will Run Faster In The Long run. But not handle like the new stuff.
Yes, correct. Modern karts handle amazingly well, the technology has advanced a lot in the 35 years since these vintage karts were originally raced. These karts have twice the horsepower of a 125cc ICC shifter kart, but don't handle as well ... end result is these vintage machines run 5-10mph faster on the straights, slower in the turns, and about the same lap times as shifters on many Sprint tracks. FYI - these vintage machines will run in a demo class at the WKA Grand Nats at NCMP this year.
Todays 250cc Super Karts are amazing machines, and brutally fast, but they are not Sprint Karts as defined by WKA-IKF rules. Sprints Karts run on short tracks typically 1/2 mile with 600 foot straights, very different than the auto racing tracks the Super Karts run on. Among Sprint Karts at Sprint Kart tracks, these 270cc duals hit much higher speeds than anything ever run in Sprint Karting, but do no handle as well as modern karts, hence lap times are similar to modern 125cc Shifters.
we were in san diego, 34 yrs ago.
My friend ran Reed jumior with an Invader and MC 91 B1.s

Although these WERE fast in their day,I don't think these would hold a candle to todays 250cc Super Karts.
