  • The nation shouldn't be confused! We are a Centrist Radical party, and we are where we've always been, unlike both Labour and the Tories who flip flop on so many issues. The Liberal Democrats have always had a consistent stance on Europe, fair green taxation, defending civil liberties, less beuracracy (handing power to local level), and cutting crime via more police officers.

  • there are a vew countrys with Labour parties, but only Britain has the unfortunate luck to have some tacky Liberal Democrat party, what a sting, the Lib Dems are like a thorn in the side for british politics, utter waste of space time money, they should pack in, no one cares about them anyway, irritating lot

  • Your comment wreaks of ignorance. The fact that you say that shows that you have no knowledge of the importance Liberals have played throughout British politics over the last century. Just last week we had an example with the Gurkha campaign- it was the Lib Dems who introduced the bill in Parliament against the governments decision and won! 30,000 brave war veterans will not be ignored because of them.

  • Good! You'll love it here. You'll have to get used to the customs and learn to spell color without a "u", but I'm sure it will be an easy and worth-wile transition.

  • Maybe you should move to the U.S.A. We have a great incoming congress and a great incoming president. Plus, Americans love people with British accents. Move to a northern state like New York or a western state like California though, the south is the crappy part of America.

  • It sounds like you guys have a confusing government. In the U.S.A we have a general election every 4 years that elects the president and half of the congress, then a midterm election 2 years after every general election that elects the other half of the congress. Elections occur on the first tuesday of November and election dates cannot be changed by any of our leaders. Individual states hold elections to elect their governers, mayors, legislators, etc. on their own scheduale.

  • Oh, well thanks for telling me that. What do the Liberal Democrats stand for then?

  • I'm not suggesting that you aren't a democratic nation, I was just confuesed by your electorial system. Liberal Democrats, or in America just Deomocrats, are in controle in the U.S.A. They dominate the House of Representitives, They have a nearly filobuster proof majority in the Senate, and our new president is a Democrat. I'm happy about that to considering conservatives like George Bush have fucked the U.S.A. up for the past 8 years.

  • Wait a minute, In the U.K. the prime minister decides when there will be an election to replace him or get him re-elected? It seems like you guys give your leader to much power.

  • Go Liberal Democrats! The only party that cares for the people!

  • idiot. vote ukip to save the nation from these bastards.

  • all ukip is is a bunch of second rate tories who hate europe, but you're so arrogant and oblivious, you don't realise libdems want to let the people decide whether to stay in europe. Surely that's the way to do it.

  • the treaty of lisbon when it comes into power would do the following

the handover of all our gold reserves to the eu

giveing the eu joint control of our entire army

the changeing of all our laws and that includes

    trial without jury

the removal of incconet until proved guilty

to be replaced with guilty until proven inccoent

also this treaty gives the eu to pass any treaty they want

long story short we will be useing euro's by 2014

  • Can I see a reference please?

  • idiot. vote ukip to save the nation from these bastards.

  • I think myself Brown didn't call a snap election in Autumn 2007 because he knew Labour would lose. It would be great to see Conservatives in power again restoring Britain after damage 10+ years of Labour have done.

  • So, labour did a 'Cameron: Chameleon' election broadcast.

Good 'ol campbell (I was sad to see him go) has done this.

I hope davy can think of something good.

  • lol, i can't believe this is official, very funny!

  • Must explain why tory council's are pileing on debt. Not only don't they have a sense of humor but they haven't attempted the blond thing yet.

  • if brown had called an election Dave Cameron's Tories would be in number 10 now and the Lib Dems would have probably gone back to 6 or 7 MPs

  • that was reali funi i'm a tory voter but brillant well done Lib Dems

  • It should be an offical video for all the electorate to see. It shows just how he missed his chance!!! May 2010 anyone???

  • this is funny!

  • Never allow political parties to attempt comedy!

  • This was Hilarious!!!

  • Interestingly, the Lib Dem column for the polls was left off. I wonder why? :P

  • haha they probably couldn't find a mignifing glass powerful enough to see it!

  • good at conveying the message, but not very clever

  • A work of genius!

  • Not the best libdem video I've received. No money left after the conference?

  • Think it's slightly rich coming from the Liberal Democrats. Wonder if ol' Ming came up with this himself lol.

  • Gordon Brown calls for a "new world order" Nuff said.

  • when did he say this?

  • Politics is the biggest joke in the UK they are all in it for what they can screw out of the tax payer next election we should all stand as perspective MP's that would burst their bubble and may put a rocket up their backsides and stop ripping us all off.

  • EXCELLENT I think ITV News should show the clip or better still the BBC 6 oclock news but hey they would never do that too deep in Gordon Broons Pocket next a clucking Chicken with Browns head on it would be fab running around the farm yard or maybe a headless chicken? I've not laughed so much in months I really think this needs to be shared with the Nation it will make everyone laugh as much as I did brilliant love it.

  • christ we really do need a higher budget don't we? and whoever did the handshaking bit can't tell their left and right apart....or is that actually a rather perecptive social comment?

  • Yes... a joke about left and right. It could of been just a crude job, but it seems likely that due to GB's sucking up to Thatcher antics, it may have been an underlying message of the confuzzlement of the old left/right divide.

  • The libdems are as bad as Labour.

the illegal privatisation of council housing the libdems where right behind it.

It's illegal under EU competition law.

    And electoral law.

  • Get your facts right moron.

  • it was Mrs Thatcher's Tory Government that brought in the right-2-buy council housing in 1980 in the teeth of opposition from both Labour and the SDP/Liberal Alliance as they were then. it certainly isn't against any law. Labour for 10 years have removed the right-2-buy.

  • Oh Christ! I think I need to donate a bit more to the party! I'm quite worried about the state of our budget after watching this video!

  • I think this video is appaling and have thus contacted a member of my party (Lib Dems) to see if the video is from them or (more likely) an individual

  • nope this really is a libdem official video - i received the link in a libdem newsletter. depressing isn't it?

  • A little bit over the top in my eyes. Its a little bit of a laugh and that is all. O.K?

  • it is an official Lib Dem video

  • hard to believe isnt it. but bloody brilliant

  • Can we have Tony Blair back?

  • You people should get angry. You might be motivated enough to change things. SMASH THE STATE!

  • oh yes, it is great to have the feeling the elections will take place not this year

  • Haha. Right on.

  • Was this made by LibDems the political party or LibDems the obscure American pre-school group?

Also this is not a big issue. Save time of all of us and make a fuss when he's doing something wrong.

  • It's amusing but what happened to that supposed Liberal Democratic distaste for yah booh and Punch & Judy politics?

Next time you use it your opponents will just point to this.

And the Tories must be highly amused that you are advertising their poll ratings.

    Duh!

  • I think Gordon Brown had to stop and thing "why am I having this election?". He certainly wasn't having it for the benefit of the other political parties - why should he?! The inheritance tax issue was the biggest turning point. Unfortunately the LibDems didn't really have anything to do with it - it was the inheritance tax issue which changed the tide, in my opinion. Certainly in the area I live in, anyway.

  • What do British "liberals" stand for?Labour isnt really socialist anymore is it?

  • This is a great video, but to be fair to Gordon Brown he did what anyone would. He considered having an election when it looked like he would win, and then didn't call and election when it turned out he would lose. It's hardly weak to not call an election when the polls say he would lose. The only people who wanted an election less than Labour were the Lib Dems, down to 13%!

  • Quite right Mr Gabb. There is no room for humour or fun in the world of politics. I am so glad to see that one political movement has such a fine straight-laced, humour-free person at its head. I wag my tail affectionately yet respectfully in your direction.

  • What a wonderful way for the LibDems to rise above the pettyness of the previous weeks!??!!

Time to give a mature lead Ming, be an elder statesman it's about all there is in your favour, quit playing kiddie games and be the "effective opposition" you promised to be.

  • Of course, because no political party is allowed to have some fun once in a while...

The ability to have a laugh and the ability to lead the country in a statesman-like fashion are not mutually exclusive. Whatever.

  • Good stuff - what on earth was Gordon thinking of anyway - he had no good excuse to acll an election.

  • I hate and fear this Labour Government. But I hate and despise the Liberal Democrats - people who are neither liberal not particularly democratic. This video is a waste of pixels and is a good argument against tax-payer funding of political parties.

    Sean Gabb

    Director

    The Libertarian Alliance

  • I see. So just because of one humorous video, all of a sudden the Liberal Democrats are neither liberal nor democratic?!

Yeah, whatever. The word "non-sequitur" springs to mind. I can't imagine why.

  • oh so true exerlent video very funny 5*

  • Great, very funny and sadly oh so true of governments since the mid 1970s.

  • its nice to see egg on Browns face but i knew he didnt have the balls to hold an election.

  • Whatever happened to the Liberal Democrats very respectable policy of no negative campaigning?

  • I totally agree - I know the election is a touchy subject but I thought the LibDems would act less infantile than this.

  • corny mash up

  • Very good but did you took Gordon Brown's photo off of Wikipedia

  • Good one - he has really damaged himself over this. People do not like seeing Labour spin merchants abusing our democracy simply for their own gain. Once again he has reinforced his reputation for cowardice.

  • lol, very funny
