Peak oil is very real and has nothing to do with money. Oil is a fossil fuel that can not be replaced and peak oil is the moment when we reach a maximum in the oil production. At this point half of the oil is taken from the earth. After this point there can't be produced any more than at that point. In reality children worked a lot harder BEFORE the capitalism brought machinery that helped with hard farming and house work. I love Perkin's answers to all the questioners. His answers are positive and demonstrate leadership, in contrast to the negative / destructive attitudes of the questioners. On the notion that there is no law demanding profit: there is no statute, but there is a common law duty to shareholders and to the corporation, which is not easily enforced against directors, but it can be. As a law student, I've read a number of cases of civil suits against directors and officers for putting social good before profits. It's a breach of the duty of loyalty. The theory is, "it's not their money to give away." Shareholders can't change that either b/c they don't make policy.

Peak oil is very real and has nothing to do with money. Oil is a fossil fuel that can not be replaced and peak oil is the moment when we reach a maximum in the oil production. At this point half of the oil is taken from the earth. After this point there can't be produced any more than at that point. Not because it costs more money, but because it takes more oil than you can get out of it! The cost is larger than the benefit! Check wikipedia peak oil for more info. I hope John does the same.

In reality children worked a lot harder BEFORE the capitalism brought machinery that helped with hard farming and house work. It is with the capitalism prosperity that jobs in exchange for money became abundant and people started to live better, and had energy to demand more rights. A corporation is a legal document they file with the Govt (in communism the Govt just merges with the corporation together and they call it " the People's communist party" - but its the same - they run everything and usually. Capitalism = YOU and anybody else can own a capital, and thus many people are owners - not only the crooks in the Govt.

From mercantilism onward it was corporations that drove expansion and economic growth. Marx (who coined the term, "capitalism") certainly includes corporate power and other legal fictions in his version of capitalism. It's not entirely in accordance with Smith, but I like to say that what you are talking about is not capitalism, but "free enterprise."

I love Perkin's answers to all the questioners. His answers are positive and demonstrate leadership, in contrast to the negative / destructive attitudes of the questioners. Notably, the first question seemed to angrily suggest a Communist revolution in a "total overthrow" of the capitalist system while the last one had very antisemitic undertones ("chosen people" philosophies).
We'll be able to heal this world once we get past all the hatred and think constructively, like Perkins.

On the notion that there is no law demanding profit: there is no statute, but there is a common law duty to shareholders and to the corporation, which is not easily enforced against directors, but it can be. As a law student, I've read a number of cases of civil suits against directors and officers for putting social good before profits. It's a breach of the duty of loyalty. The theory is, "it's not their money to give away." Shareholders can't change that either b/c they don't make policy.

Previously, no charters were ever issued without a sunset clause for their dissolution.
Corporations must be instituted for a public purpose, and once they outlive that purpose or when they drift into malignancy they are to be dissolved.

It turns out some people have been out there doing great evils against my neighbours and they are now hiding in my house, behind my wife and kids, even claiming that they acted with my blessing. They did not. My neighbours are banging at the door demanding justice. Why shouldn't they have it?

In the Confessions vids John Perkins details the steps involved in taking control of a country and its resources, starting with bribery and corruption, moving to the diplomatic equivalent of a protection racket and mafia type coercion, followed by assassination of non-compliant leaders and finally escalating to invasion and slaughter of innocent people as well as American soldiers if nothing else works, often justifying with manufactured pretexts. And here he says these people are not evil?

I would like to say that I can agree with most of what Perkins says, but disagree with him on a few issues and I'll only go into 1 here. He seems to believe that most of the corporate heads are good people and maybe they are, but there are organizations that use corporations to accomplish their goals and these groups aren't nice or good people. Case in point. Perkins seems to forget about the Jackals that he talks about. These people are given orders in many cases from above the corporations.

I agree. Go after the Federal Reserve. But you know, the bankers, having been beaten 2 or three times in US history alone, they always come back in one form or another. And if we kill the fed, the banksters will come back in one form or another. If there was any way to make them stop doing harm, and require transparency/honesty in their banking systems? I agree with you and same time I don't. Bringing down a whole philosophy is an immense project, lasting decades, even centuries. Bringing down corporations and changing their policies is easy and can be done withing few years.
The law itself isn't corrupt, it's the ones who interpret it. US constitution is very clear, understandable and fair piece of legistlation, but the corporations running over it are not.
