Beautiful voice. He does not have the versitility or depth of the female soprano. But he has an other worldly quality. I wonder what he would of sounded like if his body would have worked properly.

If the range of your natural voice goes from tenor through soprano, that is most remarkable. Radu's natural voice is strictly soprano, although Farinelli could sing from soprano down several notes below middle C.  Randall Wong's voice is a mystery but does have a falsetto hard-edge on top. If you artificially produce a sopranist range, that is very different. I have heard 2 past attempts at Nessun dorma. Neither truly was successful. The most successful sopranist was Aris Christofellis.

ok - I wrote my message in Russian - i wanted to say that Radu has much to learn. his voice is not perfect, has many goals. Philippe Jaroussky sings better - has better vocal technique, but Radu has a soft voice and I like it - it is not a secret :-)

Besides, this piece is extremely expressive and sweet.

Well, as in other kind of listening, one should be accustomed to this

kind of voice.

One have to go beyond comparing male or female soprano, to go beyond thinking about a man or a woman , or a boy, to go beyond anything.

One should do anything, but listening.

Only in this way one can discover the inner beauty of this voice!!

I agree with your observation. I found no evidence of Radu's voice or recorings in America until I acquired an MP3 file from Romania and recordings from a source in France. I then began to produce videos for YouTube. Now there is some interest among informed listeners who make efforts to acquire the few CDs available and also go to the new site MaleSopranos which has my videos plus much written material about the subject of the high male voice.

I commented on another Radu Marian video saying his voice was too squeaky for my taste, which was my initial reaction upon hearing him.. but this is just beautiful. I suppose it takes some time to get used to a voice like that; it's not something you hear (about) every day.

The painting of Farinelli was painted in Spain by Gianquinto and taken with him to Bologna where it can now be seen in the museum of music.

Carlos III was so stupid to end the relation because he had a problem with something not quite clear. I think he didn´t like femeninity in a man as he made some reference that he didn´´t want a capon in his court.

And they ended up with Boccherini, which is not worth the paper wasted in it´s writing.

Not long ago, I had dinner with a famous orchestra conductor who also is a professional violinist. He said his greatest joy had been singing as a boy soprano. He had never heard an adult, male soprano before. When I played this aria for him, he was astonished and very moved.
