@lingsoong calicos have splotches of color. tortoiseshell is the color blended in together. as you can see, this cat has all the colors blended in together so it is a tortoiseshell coloring.
No, This is a "calico" Cat. Tortoiseshell's do not have "patches" of color they are more mottled.. with 'flecks' of color and generally have no white on them. Orange, Cream and black colors- not white. I have 3 Tortie's myself and they are the best cats ever.. even though they may have attitude problems sometimes :)

Beautiful, fluffy tortie. My tortie was fluffy & tri-colored like that. Sadly, she died recently....she was old & her kidneys were failing badly, so had to have her put down. Broke my heart & your kitty reminds me of her.
Hi, are Tortishell cats basically mixed coats, with any breed of two different cats? (So it won't matter what their mixed with they are stll Tortishells) is that what they basically are? BTW, your cats soo cute, its fluffy like my tomcat! =D
I think tortoiseshell (aka torties) type of coats just like Tabby or Mackerel. They can be long hair or short hair. Most breed can have it except for ragdoll and siamese.

I've got a long haired tortie too,but she has golden eyes and her"mask"is orange...found her at 2 weeks old and hand fed her...shes a beautiful healthy girl now...called her Lara,but her nickname is "little beast"lol...torties are so full of mischief,aren't they?real little characters!!
She can be a little mischief and she seems to have a craving for rubber slippers. If my Brother was typing on the keyboard, she just started to punch those keyboard buttons too. She almost behaves like human sometimes. :o)

This is definitely a Tortoiseshell cat. She could actually be called a Tuxedo Tortoiseshell because she has the white paws and chest.

Nope :) Tortoiseshell cats have more dark patches than calicos.
