  • heard of a life

  • ubisurfer is great product ... it helps all quick internet needs , with high speed internet

  • there crap, how the fuck do you play music on the youtube thing !?

  • bull, why dont you tell the truth and admit its totally crap.

  • Ubi surfer is really helping my business. Thank you ubisurfer. Go foreword.

  • its nice as it as a portable, light weight and fast browsing,i realy need this type of a product

  • Needing People dont think Other Options........Datawind Ubisurfer a bg Source.........

  • The Datawind UBISurfer is a great bit of Equipment, Which is an ecstatic product

  • Got my UbiSurfer netbook last week and I am generally very happy with it as it comes in really handy for reading emails

  • This Ubisurfer is a load of rubbish, I watch the demonstration on Ideal World and mine does not perform anything like the demonstration. I bought it in November 2009 and it had barely been used because I can never get a signal and it will not connect to my wi-fi broadband, so it just sits in a drawer waiting for the 12 month free subscription to expire, then I can throw it in the rubbish with the smaller pocket version that I bought the year before.

  • The Datawind Ubisurfer is a great little bit of equipment for on the go chatters but lets face it you people are being plain stupid.

I'll bet that you're trying to use it for anything and everything like you would a normal laptop well sorry but that's not what it's made for.

  • Spent £145 on a new one two months ago.

It's booted twice in its life.

I'm thinking of using it as a toilet seat.

  • The company i work for just bought 6 of these at a computer fair...without doubt these devices are TOTAL AND COMPLETE AND UTTER GARBAGE (DO NOT BUY ONE), the best advice would be to use the money towards a half decent machine!

  • Oh and Duncan...sorry mate but your a twat...

  • Datawind PocketSurfer: good IDEA but lousy in practice.

Datawind Ubisurfer: OK idea (albeit slight mod of UMPC/Netbook) STILL lousy in terms of actual ability.

  • Im really sad. I got one of these for my birthday and i dont want to tell my parents how shit it is coz it might upset them. When i looked at the box and seen the awful specs i wanted to cry. Now i know it cost them £150. Such a waste of money!

  • I bought a UbiSurfer as an upgrade to my Pocket Surfer - it was a mistake. The device is crippled by lack of memory & awful applications & represents a thorough waste of money - trying to find upgrades and patches fopr this terrible machine has proved impossible as Datawind's website is poor and half the time , it does not work - I am so disappointed, this device looked to be an answer to my prayers, a dream - truly potable Internet! Instead it has been a nightmare AVOID IT AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!

  • I would say that if you want the absolute basics and usage won't increase then this would be ideal.

However, as comments on here have already said, 'my usage is increasing daily'. There lies the problem. The 128mb of memory and 1GB of HD space won't last long. The time it takes to load anything more complexed than a basic website is also another issue for me.

Even for the simple person, this device will outgrow them more quickly than it takes to load the above video. I've sold mine already

  • This netbook is excellent. My usage is increasing daily. I have used it around every corner of the city with the GPRS connection and it works very well. Comparing it to my friends 3G, the Ubisurfers GPRS connection wins both in download and browsing speed. Its so convenient that I often pass up WiFi connections to remain on GPRS. (I am on the unlimited plan) the speed is that cool.

  • i was with a mate who got one of these the other day ,while we was at the store a women was complaining about it,trying to get a refund, told my m8 dont get it,but he still did ,and guess wot it died suddenly ,does not power up ,less then a day later

  • It was back on Ideal World yesterday for £139.99 I'm interested in getting one of these but haveing looked at a similar product called the pocketsurfer saw that it couldn't get video or flash from websites you want to look at. Is this the same for this? It would be great if you could see Youtube on it and play Spotify etc. Does anyone know for sure if you can do this on it?

  • That's not really a review - more a run down of the specification. Where is our opinion piece? How many stars would you give this? Is it worth getting? = a review.

This POS costs £138 right now... Uh, that's about £115 too much, sorry!

  • Biggest load of s*** in the history of laptops!

Do yourself a favour and check the EEE PC 701

Higher spec, better performance, same bloody price.

If you need the sim card input, mod the EEE PC it costs very little.

  • 'Based on Internet Explorer' How did they manage that? This device runs on Linux.

  • It's bullshit; the only mainstream browser I know that works with Linux is Mozilla Firefox...

If Datawind ever used that "Based on Internet Explorer" thing on an advertising campaign for the netbook, it would fail miserably, don't you agree?

  • @mukatuna Linux or Windows CE.

  • Ideal world have withdrawn it,Maplin hardly have any stock and the so called helpline for Datawind is hopeless,is it on the way out already because of a rushed release and problematic software? remember Datawind farmout applications to 3rd parties and compress the returning data for supposed xtra speed. Not worth the risk until probs ironed out.

  • Issue with 16 or 32 bit sim cards Maplin tell u its pot luck, no way of telling which u will get as they cannot check without invalidating warranty. Datawind support of no help. This prob needs ironing out either sell 16bit machines cheaper or return them for an upgraded one.

  • they can play on youtube really slow, loads of them need to be returned back to the store because vondafone updated there gprs to only accept 32 bit sims, so there are loads of 16bit sims in these! becuase datawind thought it was cheaper to use 16bit LMAO

  • also does it play divx?

  • i want it if it can run youtube

  • yup slow!

  • my sister was in london and she buy one now i am going to london and i am going to have it too. =)

  • my dad works there at datawind! yay!! Ive got 1!

  • lucky you, i sooooo want one, everywhere is sold out :S

i have only found 3 places that do it:

    iwoot . com (sold out)

maplin . co . uk (sold out)

idealworld . co . uk (sold out)

  • try iwantoneofthose . com :)

  • iwoot . com is the same as iwantoneofthose . com

  • She looks like a man.

  • WTF? It is a man. You'd think the name "Duncan" would have given you a clue....

  • Modern world wonders. Penises on women and caves on men...

  • You best be trolling.

  • if you save a film on a usb stick can you watch it back (clearly) on this???

  • 1 gb of storage is stupid ,at least 10 ffs

  • you think thats bad, they use 16 bit simcards, vodafone changed there service to only accept 32 bit, so shit loads need to be sent back

  • I spend an hour on the train every day, I could really use this! (is it available in the US, I wonder?)

  • nope

  • I like it! i go on the train reguarly and that would be handy!

  • jhkjbvkjbk

  • this is cool...

  • Not a bad concept. A true net book. Cos thats all I would use that for....

Imagine even trying to boot up crysis on that...... Your processor has now spontaneously combusted. Have a nice day.

  • There isnt enough storage to even install crysis!

  • crysis is not even a good game. well in my opinion
