Did you get this tablet for fun, or are you working on becoming an artist? I'd like to save up and buy this model rather than the 24, but I don't have any experience with drawing tablets. I really like the control of traditional media like pencil and paper, but I'm more than willing to give this a shot.
@kevin71127 I'm currently a student and working artist, so it's definitely a tool of the trade at this point. If you've never used tablets or digitally painted before, I'd recommend starting off with a bamboo or intuos, Cintiqs are a big investment to get only to find out you don't like digital artwork, starting smaller is much easier to handle financially and it's not that much different from a Cintiq and you can decide if its something you want to pursue or not.
@kevin71127 Neither are "better" really, I'd say the Cintiq is 10-20% faster and easier for certain tasks and it's more fun to use, but they're both equally good for drawing, painting and anything else digital. If this is your first time getting in to digital art, I'd definitely recommend starting with the intuos.
@clwGaming There are a lot of tutorials online to help get you started on places like conceptart, gnomon workshop, deviantart (sometimes), and other places. The most important thing is to practice and find someone more skilled than you that can help you get started. :)
You do some amazing art! Love the paitings...does your Cintiq come pre-loaded with some art software? I only got a Wacom Bamboo that comes with Artrage..if your Cintiq 21 doesn't come with software then what art / drawing programme do you use? Thnak you and keep up the lovely work. And thank you for posting your videos!
And the Cintiq comes with Photoshop Elements and Painter Essentials which are basically watered down versions of the full versions of both programs, but I typically use a full version of Painter 12 to do most of my work. Photoshop Elements is more than enough to create professional quality digital art though, how you use the program is more important than the program itself.
how is it in terms of distance from the actual pen nib and the ACTUAL screen not the glass over it, as i know the cintiq 12wx has quite a gap which i really am not a fan of, having the nib as close as screen to the nib is what i want...
@faenor I've never had a problem with the nib being too far from the screen; you have to re-calbirate it every now and then but it's never been an issue for me.
@b1gbudda If you mean the photoshop brushes, yes they are. They're mostly default PS brushes (chalk brushes I think) and a few custom brushes I made, nothing special.
im a beginning artist i guess you would say, and ive been wanting to do art like this, but im not sure on how to start. i have a Wacom intuos3, Photoshop elements, and im getting a smudgeguard ;).. should be in the mail soon. i got some decent beginning tools, but any recommended teaching videos or teachers would be more than helpful. most i can find is speed painting videos, although nice to watch a painting develope in less than a few minutes, i cant keep up with all the fast motion.
Wow... If you insist that this isn't your best work, then I imagine that something you put honest time and effort into could easily be called a masterpiece.

@InnovationalFilms they are reaaaaaaaaaaaaly expensive! =.=||| ! the clintic 21 ux costs $ 1999 and the smaller one clintiq 12 wx costs $ 999, i want one TT.TT! but the only way im gonna get that is if i save my money for 20-30 years TT.TT!!!
@YatczLoveSinging too expensive.. maybe if your good enough and get hired by bungie or some rich videogame designer, theyll hand you one no charge lol..wouldnt that be amazing :]
@InnovationalFilms im not that good drawer :(! but i figured out that it acctually take dust 3 years for me to save up that kind of money :D! if i save my allowance and get a summer job's offcourse ^^! but i don't wanna wait even that long =.=! ive decided to get a cheaper drawing tablet and then buy that one when ive saved up for it :).
@YatczLoveSinging I got the wacom medium tablet myself. Id just stick with the cheaper one. The cintiq is just an added level of comfort and edge. But, the medium cheaper tablets do the job just fine. Anyhow I hope you get some tablet, they're great. Hope to hear from you if you do. Let me know how u like it! Good luck with your art in the mean time :]
@InnovationalFilms ive found a odinery tablet without a without a screen for 80 $ ;) but i can't even afford that i have to save for 1 month and 3 weeks then i have that kinda money :( i wish i had more money i really want that one*points upp on video above*
I'm actually running this on a PC; but I would assume it would run on an iMac as long as it has your typical USB and DVI / VGA ports. The only requirement listed on Wacom's site is Macintosh OS X 10.4.8+.
And no, I haven't had any problems like that, I just got the drivers installed, plugged it in and it's worked fine ever since. The only issue I've had with it is that one or two pixels died, but that's not a big deal with 2 million other pixels to use, haha.
awesome! really nice painting ! but just a question do you use photoshop? and did u buy it or did you download it? If you did, where should i download it?
@j0l0k In the video I'm using Photoshop, but have recently been making a transition to Painter. I originally got my copy of Photoshop from my brother, and do not recommend or support downloading it illegally. If you can't afford to buy it, pretty much all of Wacom's tablets come with a copy of Photoshop Elements, which is more than enough to make great digital art.
@lorin1996 I've never experienced any lag on the cintiq. If the cursor appears to be dragging behind the pen, it's because the calibration is off, which is easy to correct. If there's any actual lag, it's coming from the computer and not the cintiq.
hahahaha, guys, it's a speedpaint, kind of like a sketch but not with pencil. Jeeez, he even said i the description it wasn't his best and people are still saying "I've seen better" or other bull. Either way, I loved your end results, I like looking at people's processes, it's interesting how they come to their final product. :) Also, an hour on this! wow! I thought more! I've never worked digitally but it looks like a ton of fun, you seem to know what you're doing in this! keep it up :D
@SandraRebecca9394 As said in the description, it took about an hour. But only an hours work doesn't go very far, I certainly wouldn't put this in a portfolio; just a quick sketch for fun. :)
Woah, that was awesome. The music really got you into the picture once it was all said and done. I think you did an excellent job. All of these douche-lords saying otherwise are just jealous. You have an amazing eye for this style and I don't doubt you worked hard to get there. Post more videos please!
nice work, epic music, good video. you really show what one of these cintiq's can do. though I think I'll stick to my traditional media, i am glad that other artists are harnessing this new media and interfacing with it well. best of luck in your future endeavors.
@ool3rt Thanks! And you're actually very wise to do so, I think. I jumped in to digital way to early and got way to caught up in it, like most artists nowadays. Now that I'm starting to get back in to traditional media more, I'm learning so many things that you just can't learn if you're exclusively digital. There's some great power in digital art, but it's all rooted in traditional techniques; there's no substitute for knowing how to handle a pencil and a brush. :)
All those pieces are done on paper or canvas, using a variety of mediums.
Using photoshop is no easier or harder than drawing on paper. Artistic skill does not rely on tools in any way; a good artist can paint with anything that can make a mark; from oil paint to lipstick to cheetos to a burnt stick. The fundamentals of art are universal.
@ Jullianos4 & asphixa: What are you guys doing? This guy enjoys making drawings on his tablet and figures that he should place some of his speed drawings on the internet. Then u guys come around and say that it is not good enough or that his drawing is not worth the equipment..? I mean, seriously, he is just doing something that he likes to do and who are you to judge him on this? Please f*ck off and place your pessimistic comments on your own channel. @Andantonius: great work on the drawing :)
@Jullianos4 Quite to the contrary, talent is a bunch of bullcrap. Nobody is born good at anything; find me someone who's good at something that didn't bust their asses for years to learn how to do it and then I'll consider listening to your opinions on, "talent". I don't need you or anyone else to tell me what I can and can't do. Prodigies exist because they work hours and hours every day from their early childhood, talent has nothing to do with anything.
@Andantonius There was a kid that was in a preschool, about age 2 or 3. The class of toddlers, as an activity, were told to draw the same object--a picture of a dog with a man's body. While the rest of the kids drew stick figures and wide scribbles for hair, the young kid drew a dog's face and a full figured man's body--something that someone could color. He was the only one, and it was his first time drawing. He's a little older now and draws excellently with no art classes, no teachers.
@varviewme That may be completely true, but unless he studies and practices until his fingers bleed and his brains fall out he will never be a professional artist. Talent will get him to a third grade level faster than everyone else, from then on out it's down to working hard and studying. Drawing "excellently" compared to his non-artist classmates means nothing, because in the professional world he's up against Jason Chan, Sterling Hundley, Graydon Parrish, and every other modern master.
@Jullianos4 how i'd love to see some of your works, or some that chan assure you're able to do all these criticism on someone's else work...show us al your ability and skills...
Amigo talves no hablas espanol.. pero podrias decirme cuanto cuesta esa tabla digital? de las que puedo usar tocando la pantalla con el lapiz? y donde la puedo comprar?
@asphixa You are more than welcome to have that opinion. Personally I don't see how someone's skill has anything to do with the quality of their equipment. I got a Cintiq because art is my passion, and one day I will be at a professional skill level, and between now and then I will enjoy having nice tools to use.
@GAWproductions This particular Cintiq costs $2,000 USD, but they also have a smaller model for $1,000. They also have a lot of screenless tablets that work just as well as a Cintiq for as little as $80.
@MrJoedf I have a Cintiq 12wx (the baby brother of the 21ux), I used to run it under Windows Vista, I now run it through Mac OS X. There is honestly no difference in feel to the way it works on either OS, except bizarrely the touch strip (which is by default used to control zoom) is inverted (ie. in Windows you move your finger up to zoom in, and on Mac you moved your finger down)..
That is sexy, great job. I like your choice of coloring. Oh, what I would do for that tablet.....if I would kill for an intuous4, imagine what I would so for this! You even have a cool glove thing!!!
That is fucking sexy, great job. I like your choice of coloring. Oh, what I would do for that tablet.....if I would kill for an intuous4, imagine what I would so for this! You even have a cool glove thing!!!
@Happyfaceke Congratulations. It's so wonderful that you've laid eyes on some of the millions of pieces of artwork that are better than this one. It's especially good that you notified me of it as well, it's obvious that we're both going to benefit immensely from your leaving such an incredibly constructive comment, not to mention the similar one you left on my other video.
You're a shining example of good capitalization as well, truly an inspiration for all. *Salute*
@Stickymation Cintiqs are pretty expensive, they have a small and a large model that are $999 and $1999 respectively. But Wacom also sells tablets without screens that are just as effective as a Cintiq for as little as $60.
yeh i thought they would be expensive, i currently use the wacom bamboo but tbh i think somthing like the cintiq would be awesome.. it combinds the digital with the handonpaper feel..

Cool video. I noticed that you are running the Cintiq 21UX on a Mac. Is it an iMac? Will it work with an iMac do you know?

I read a comment like that on Amazon and that scared me a bit.

Drawing "excellently" compared to his non-artist classmates means nothing, because in the professional world he's up against Jason Chan, Sterling Hundley, Graydon Parrish, and every other modern master.

tbh, you got a much to professional tablet... especially for drawings like this, wtf.
asphixa 1 year ago
@asphixa You are more than welcome to have that opinion. Personally I don't see how someone's skill has anything to do with the quality of their equipment. I got a Cintiq because art is my passion, and one day I will be at a professional skill level, and between now and then I will enjoy having nice tools to use.
Andantonius 1 year ago
@Andantonius how old are you? and how long have you been drawing?
asphixa 1 year ago
@asphixa Age is fairly irrelevant, and I've been drawing for about 4 or 5 years, seriously studying and practicing for about 2.

How much did get your Cintiq for?
GAWproductions 1 year ago
@GAWproductions This particular Cintiq costs $2,000 USD, but they also have a smaller model for $1,000. They also have a lot of screenless tablets that work just as well as a Cintiq for as little as $80.

Does the Cintiq work well with Windows 7?
MrJoedf 1 year ago
@MrJoedf I haven't personally tried it with Windows 7, but Wacom's website says it's compatible with 7 so it should work fine.
Andantonius 1 year ago
@Andantonius Okay. Thanks for the info.
MrJoedf 1 year ago
@MrJoedf I have a Cintiq 12wx (the baby brother of the 21ux), I used to run it under Windows Vista, I now run it through Mac OS X. There is honestly no difference in feel to the way it works on either OS, except bizarrely the touch strip (which is by default used to control zoom) is inverted (ie. in Windows you move your finger up to zoom in, and on Mac you moved your finger down)..

*Salute*

@Happyfaceke Up something better then, bitch.
Otherwise, leave this man alone, he is trying to do something that you clearly are not showing. Effort.

this looks like a picture on a Magic: The Gathering card. SDo you paint for them?
MajorLeagueDoorKickr 1 year ago
@MajorLeagueDoorKickr Haha, no I don't. My art skills aren't nearly good enough to be painting for such a big name like that. xD
Definitely appreciate the compliment though. :D

v v nice.. how much does a wacom cintiq 21ux cost? they are damn sexy pieces of tech ;)
v nice vid too, great skill
Stickymation 1 year ago
@Stickymation Cintiqs are pretty expensive, they have a small and a large model that are $999 and $1999 respectively. But Wacom also sells tablets without screens that are just as effective as a Cintiq for as little as $60.
Andantonius 1 year ago
@Andantonius yhyh, thanx for the quick reply ;)
yeh i thought they would be expensive, i currently use the wacom bamboo but tbh i think somthing like the cintiq would be awesome.. it combinds the digital with the handonpaper feel..
gotta get saving (Y) xD
