  • THIS IS NOT PS2 (Playstation 2) SUCKER!

  • OMG, 20MB of HDD. really small hdd memory

  • start up sound FTW!

  • ibm ps2 :D

  • this video makes me tired

  • super komp

  • Seeing as you have a 55sx, perhaps you can help me with something. I recently acquired a 55sx, but it gives error codes 161 and 163. To repair those errors I need a reference disk which I don't have.

If you have a copy of the reference disk's would you mind sending a copy to me. It would help me out a lot.

  • Can do but you need to figure out if your dallas runtime chip has ran out of battery power. The battery for cmos on this machine is internal inside the dallas rtc. You can either cut the chip up and find where the battery is (what i did) or replace the chip.

If you are lucky enough to have a dallas rtc chip with power left in it - i can send you the reference disk.

  • @Dms12444

    Hello.

    Contact me at badboy1985ro@yahoo.com

Give me an email. I use to have the referance disk fr the ibm ps2 55sx. give me a mail and o will send it to u

  • Tadaaaa! Classic....

  • Ahh, memories. My first computer was a 486DX with 4MB of RAM (Packard Bell). I forgot about having to type win and the fantastic "tada" sound :) ... though in the beginning I didn't even have a sound card! Your voice is great, btw :)

  • hahaha make me sleep, very its funny at the same time becose of it

  • the "it boots windows for you" is easily done by adding some lines to autoexec.bat...

  • @mikebhasi Actually I think only one line in autoexec.bat would do.

  • @mikebhasi Yes, by adding "win" on the end.

  • holy shit.... memories... i remember being in kindergarten and when we used the computers I would always have to type "WIN" at the DOS prompt!! WOW I forgot about that until now

  • Great vid

(i just got the 56sx off ebay)

  • i never seen windows 3.1 before.

  • Just because he made a video of his old computer? wow dude stop putting down other people because im sure your life isnt any better. Besides YouTube is a place where anyone can put there videos on here about anything they want. That is why they made this site DURRR.

  • @thecooldude1822 Right, and its obvious by the amount of views that people come on youtube to specificaly see these kind of videos. Its nostalgia, there is a video for the booting up of almost every platform and every OS.

  • Isnt that A Computer with just windows and ps2 installed on it?\

  • lol i want to run ps2 on pc now watch and old 3.1 windows omfg why would you even want to run this version so ugly and primitive....

  • the first version of windows operating system, that was even able to use an internet browser and run the internet period i mean seriously?

One could access google still on this thing.. And some people don't use computers for anything demanding....and this could even meet their typing and printing needs quiet well

  • have fun browsing modern websites with 4MB of RAM.

  • @Gibson299

Windows 3.1 could indeed meet many people's word processing needs. Not so sure about web browsing. Modern websites/web browsers take a pile of memory. And adobe flash? That thing hogs so much memory. 3.1 could certainly still browse basic sites like wikipedia, but good luck using youtube.

  • IBM - I do not see why people should need more than 1 MB of RAM

  • i got windows 3.1 and windows 3.11 for workgroups on the same pc

    good video

  • that start-up sound is fantastic.

    I can't stop laughing

  • ESDI hard disk, never heard of it and I have been supporting pc's since the early 90's. MFM, RLL, SCSI, IDE... Never heard of esdi, I looked it up and it's pretty good for it's time. MFM was pretty much the early standard. My first hard disk was a 20mb MFM which you had to run debug to lowlevel format!

  • Very cool! I wish I had a computer that old!

  • OMFG WOOT 4Mb of ram

  • "640K ought to be enough for anybody." Bill Gates

  • that used to be alot. its just like how "4" gb is considered a fair amount TODAY!

  • "80" gigs is fare well a little 1000 tererbits thats fare

  • WTF

  • U can`t say its bad.I like it (-:

  • I've wanted an old computer like this one for ages. Where can I buy one?

  • eBay and Craigslist, my friend!

  • My first computer. :)

  • Windows Vista is the best!

  • 20mb hdd it's little bit low for windows 3,1 i have a 106 mb seagate but i'm not sure of that a mfm is??

  • Low it isn't, it isn't at all. Windows 3.1 uses only 720kB of HDD-space. In the time this computer was made, you weren't able to make a 20mb HDD full.

  • better looking computer then my IBM ps1

  • what sucks about 64 bit vista is that it cant run qbasic, even in a dos box.

  • Your house is a tip

  • I love how you know what his whole house is like from just a very quick, shaky look at one corner of one room!

  • Oh Man, Early 90s Memories! I remember my family's 386.

  • i like ms-dos

  • I have the same Computer only with DOS :-(

  • It's so funny for me to think that Windows 3.1 is actually about 8 months OLDER than me! But what I really wish is that I could've been old enough to remember when Windows 95 was released.

  • Type "win". I remember that when I was like 8 lol.

  • Windows 3.1 is the best ever made? That hilarious! XD

I use Vista, it's great. It's time to upgrade people!

  • im upgrading when my laptop comes but ill still run 3.1 anyway! (im gettin home premium)

    PS:i run 3.1 on dosbox

  • Vista sucks! Incompatible, unstable, fuck vista get 3.1!

    3.1 rules!

  • Technically speaking, Vista is more stable than 3.1 or XP. You say Vista is incompatible, but try running Microsoft Word 2007 on Windows 3.1. It's way outdated dude. You couldn't even view this video with Windows 3.1. I know if you really had to make a decision between 3.1 and Vista, you'd choose Vista. C'mon now, lets be real! You're going to have to upgrade sooner or later. In my year of using Vista, only 1 program was incompatible. FTR, I have nothing against XP, I just prefer Vista.

  • Vista is a copy of a MAC...and a lame one at that. And your wrong in saying Vista is more stable. No way is it! And if I had to upgrade from 3.1 (which i still use and love) I'd go for XP or Debian Linux! Vista is a poor attempt at a 'pwetty looking operwating system'! Many people in the top IT industries mock Vista for its incompatibility and lack of a 'good base system'. How can a computer meant to run on quad core CPU use a base system written for a single core CPU!

  • I suppose you'll entitled to your own opinion. After reading this comment it's obvious that I can do nothing to change your mind. I could argue that you've probably never used Vista, but then again I've never extensively used Linux and I've never used Windows 3.1. I don't really agree that Vista looks like MAC OS, but then again there's no changing your mind. I don't really mind, nor do I care, what OS you choose to run. It's none of my business anyway. Enjoy 3.1.

  • I have used Linux and 3.1. I really don't like 3.1 because nothing is compatible with it when I had it, and you can't play most of the modern things, plus, if you think Vista is a copy of Mac, what do you think Linux is, a copy of Mac and Windows. As for the unstable part, I had Vista ever since it came out, without reformatting it. That's the truth, unless you want me to lie.

  • Ok...you cannot say that 3.1 is incompatible because most modern things wont work. It was made nearly 20 years ago. As for Linux being a copy of a mac. HELLO Mac runs Linux BSD!...'Linux being a copy of Windows'?? Hello Linux invented the GUI! Windows copied the X system GUI.

  • Well yes, it's a very common and so far the most efficient GUI. A taskbar on the top or bottom, a desktop with icons, and windows to show programs in. wtf where they supposed to use? circles? And yes, of course 3.1 is incompatible because it's old. That's the point him and I are trying to make. IT'S OLD!!! THROW IT OUT!!! Upgrade to XP, Vista, Linux or even Mac OS X. Hell, even Win2000 is better.

  • I got Vista and I think that if ur gonna use it on your home desktop, i think is great cause of the visuals. Excluding that, to me is the same to XP. But if u use it at work, it would be better to use XP cause it's more stable

  • Well there are some little differences, like the file system has slightly changed. In XP, all your miles were under "My Documents," regardless if it was a document, jpeg, mp3 or whatever. But yeah, they're pretty similar. But if you think about it, isn't Windows XP just Windows 2000 with a pretty face? They came out only a year apart, they couldn't have made THAT many changes, ya know? So I think people who say Vista is XP with a pretty face hypocrites.

  • Yeah they have alot of differences, but i still think xp is more stable, specially with drivers. I have Vista HP and i got the bsod every day

  • U should do a mem check. I have had vista for over a month and it only got a bsod once. For some reason Vista almost always gets a bsod in the first week and then after that ur normally fine. If ur hardware is of course.

  • I have XP...I had Vista(I threw it out). I have 98,95, 3.1 and UBUNTU and PC-BSD Linux!

Window the most efficient GUI? Hello do you live in a cage with limited access to the Internet to post ridiculously stupid comments? The X system has the most efficient GUI.

Fucking Hell man....the Atari ST GEM had a more efficient GUI than windows. Oh and thats another thing. I also have GEM on my computer!

  • You spent $150 - $250 on Vista and threw it put? Wow, I guess people are rich these days. If you have a decent computer, then Vista really is a great OS. If not, then you're going to have a horrible experience. I'd suggest at least 2GB of RAM. And what is the X system? Isn't that Linux? If so, then it's still the same GUI, just the taskbar is at the top. Besides having Ubuntu, I don't see how you can survive using such outdated OSs.'

  • I agree. X-window isn't as good as Windows in my oppinion. And Vista is great with a good computer. However, I use Vista on my laptop (Dell Inspiron, minimum performance) with 1GB ram and 1.8 ghz celeron and Vista works great on it. And I think that Vista OEM (not sure which version) is about $90. At least that is wat I heard.

  • I had to format my computer 2 times (because i fucked it up)

  • Vista rules!! How dare you!!

  • I hope thats sarcasm, otherwise I have lost all respect for you!

  • Right, Right, Right. Windows Vista rules and so does XP (XP is better than vista)

  • I think Vista is better than XP but both r great. I wish that MS came out with a newer OS after XP sooner though.

  • Dude, Windows Vista sucks ass. DEAL WITH IT!

  • ive been using VIsta for awhile now and no complaints. I dont no wat ur talking about.

  • lol....

  • Vista is a fine looking operating system. Someday MicroSoft will make it even better and drop support on xp. Don't worry!

  • the xp support drop will be in 2009 (so this year already)

Nearly all new games after about may or something, will not have OS: xp on the back of the box anymore

  • windows xp will be unsupported in 2014 soo yea ur wrong we have time and xp is better than vista

  • XP is better than Vista if you have less than 2GB ram, less than P4 2,5gHz, and less than 128mb videocard for Aero

so ur the one here that speaks bs

  • XP is and will always be better than vista, even if u have 9999999999999TB and 99999999999GHZ...

  • uhm.. nope.. XP supports up to 2Gigs RAM... Vista up to 4GB... there already are games that require 2GB, which means ur XP will nearly die when running it ^^

  • WRONG!!! XP 32 bit supports up to 2 gigs of RAM, XP 64 bit supports up 16 exabytes of ram!!!!

Vista 32 bit supports up to 2 gigs of RAM, and Vista 64 bit supports up to 16 exabytes of ram!!!!

    GET IT RIGHT!!!!!

  • U R WRONG!

my Vista 32bit supports up to 4Gigs

check microsofts website... where did you get ur info?

btw, Vista 64 Bit is 8Gigs, and all XP versions r up to 2Gigs, no matter which one

  • Seems so Early!

  • lies.

  • hate vista it sux xp all the way

  • defiantely agree

vista sucks it freezes all the time when managing large files and thats the Ultimate edition!

    XP FTW

  • erm, i have NEVER had any of the problems people talk about on vista.

  • well thats okay for you.

  • Vista is more stable and better resistant to Viruses than any XP version,.... Any1 who thinks its different check Microsoft.

  • Vista does not make you more protected. You need internet virus protection to be protected. If you have a vista computer without virus protection, it isn't going to "protect itself". Sorry!

  • Well, Windows Vista does have Windows Defender built-in; granted that Windows Defender isn't that great, but nevertheless.

And since viruses aren't a HUGE threat anymore, it isn't mandatory that you have virus protection. Anti-spyware is key with Windows nowadays.

  • I know, the ages when Win95 was ground breaking. Not understanding BSOD (I was 3). Helping mom build it. I loved my little PC. And now I throw those memories away and use the Mac now. LOL

  • Vista rules, XP Sux, Get Vista

  • Finally! Someone gets it!

  • For me my choice of os is OS X leopard on my Powermac G5 and vista on my quad core

i cant complain i like them equally and i use them for different things

but yeah i wonder if crysis will work on windows 3.1... i sware i saw support for it XD

  • old skool is the best!

  • I don't know why but I really used to like DOS and Windows 3.1 when I was a kid.

  • but vista sucks. i have it...

  • i meant to reply this to topsyandpip56.

  • It's not too bad, I'm running it right now and it runs flawlessly. Of course, it could be that I'm using Home Basic...

  • Great! These were brilliant for DOS Games. And Windows 3.1 didnt crash as much on them. Windows 3.1 was the Vista of its time...

  • i dont have vista i have XP but my friend does i ried i and vista is he shit and i think my first computer was 95 or 3.1

  • Damn...would like one of these PS/2's also

They are rock solid for DOS gaming

  • poor

  • true but with PC now you have no limit to hack xcept with macs...

  • lol 20 mb hard drive!! 2mb ram!! today we have 2gb ram rofl

  • I do have a mac... many and pcs

  • too bad you dont have one of those, ha

  • Imagine what would happen if you tried to install Vista or XP on that.

  • If you install XP or Vista on that old IBM PC

    =

    BSoD!

  • Vista and XP won't run on a 386.

  • Maybe if you had TONS of RAM in it...it MIGHT go to the setup screen...just think of it though...how fast is the processor on this computer? and 20MB hard drive? omg...today we have like 500 GB hard drives that people fill up in an instant! (I have a 175 GB HD and only have used 70 Gigs of it.)

  • Nope... Vista and XP won't even boot on a 386... It's because of missing instruction sets which are only present in the Pentiums and upward

  • i don't think the graphics could handle vista

  • Dude Windows Vista Is Out..

  • Dude, he does have a PC with Vista, this is just a different PC he's showing.

  • WTF? are you using win 3.1 on this years?

  • lulz

  • i found a computer today with 3.1 on it 2mb ram and 20mhz lol i dont remember anything else i will have to go get it and find out later

  • ahhh good'ol windows 3.1 and his famous "ta daa" :-)

  • Great little system!

I have one under my desk right now.

16 megs ram, OS/2 2.1, microchannel network....Great to see people still using these systems.

  • OS/2 is better than windows. so it is good that you've come to the light side of the force. Windows is the dark side of the format

  • reminds me of my 386 enhanced, snif snif.

  • Damn son 4mb damn thats like one downloaded mp3 lol

  • OMFG 4MB of RAM! Wow, you could play anything on it XD

  • Imagine trying to run Crysis on there XD or Oblivion.

  • try bf2142 or bf2

  • good luck lol

  • I had the exact same model -- IBM PS/2 with I think only 3MB RAM and a 40MB hard drive and a color monitor. Didn't have a sound card though ;) The things we take for granted nowadays...

  • I have 4096 mb of ram and a 2TB HD... Guess I win.

  • i used to use one of these untill 2000 then i bought windows 2000 and now im useing a PowerBook with mac os x 10.4.10 lol

  • Taa Daaaaaaaaa

lol, memories. I had exactly the same monitor, owned a old 286 though which couldnt run windows.

  • hey retard, u can edit the autoexec.bat file to automatically type in win for you.

  • Yes i know you can but because I have dos games on here that run in pure dos mode only, I prefer it stopping at a comand prompt, not automatically starting windows.

  • omg it took about 1:30 to load up windows 3.1 lol

  • cool

  • So remember Himem.sys loading up. I still remember my grandpa's 486dx and loading Windows 3.1 on it for the first time, and then Windows 95, which ran like shite.

Ahhh.. memories. We used to have a 286, which ran DR-DOS.

  • Video quality wasnt that bad, i could see what was on the screen and thats what counts isnt it? All in all its a good way to bring back old memories, im 17 years old now and i remeber having windows 3.1 on my first computer that my parents bought for 3000 dollars!

We Had Tanks on it, and it was the best, Great Video

  • Im redoing this video with this dvi camcorder ive aquired very shortly watch this space

  • HAHAHA 4MB RAM :P

  • My first computer had 128KB of RAM

  • lol wow how things have advanced XD from dell you can get 160GB of RAM :S lol

  • no, no you cant.

  • Trust me, you can. I don't know how but you can select it on one option somewhere - it could have been alienware i'm not too sure but Dell owns alienware so oh well.

Also you can just add external RAM boards?

  • lol that is hard drive space, not RAM... The most RAM you can get on a readily available motherboard is around 64GB.

  • My first video machine was the infamous Atari 2600, but my first proper computer was the Zx Spectrum 128K+2A, pc compatibles didnt come into the scene til years later, and i still prefer amiga workbench over windows :D
