Considering how dominant Jones was on Brandon Vera I think the fight could be similar. If Jones uses his range to setup for take downs he's gonna win. If Shogun gets close and uses the left hook it's over for Jones.
It's a tough pick, Shogun is a beast but I believe Jones has what it takes.
If Shogun defends his title once and not by robbery decision, the curse has been broken, and Silva will most likely fight Shogun if Shogun defends his title, GSP defends his title then loses to Anderson
A dude gets the belt.. and then he gets a loss.. usually he gets knocked the fuck out in a brutal manner.. then the belt moves on to the next lucky one.. who gets the same treatment in his next fight..
Jones looks like he might be the one to break that curse tho.. DAMN he fucked up Shogun!
Good Video i have it won in the third round via tko by shogun i think shoguns going to take it out on jones legs and its gunna be it i like jones but i believe hes going to get surprised wen he realizes that hes in a big show fighting a fighter who has more experience. i believe his nervousness is going to get the best of him when hes in the cage across from shogun my pick third rd tko shogun rua winner
Jones is an interesting fighter, reminds me of Anderson Silva.. but Shogun is pure badass!
I hope Shogun muay thai kicks the shit out of Jones ribcage, trips him and knocks him the fuck out, with one of those Pride-style diving punches when Jones is on his back !
Jones looked strong against Bader, tho.. it is going to be interesting..
I agree Shogun is a hell out of a champion, one of the best strikers, beat Machida and all this stuff that makes him a grat fighter,, but when it comes to Jon Jones every fucking fight seems like a total annihilation just 1 loss via DQ that was a total destruction until the illegal elbows. The guy is a type of Anderson Silva magnitude with a Grappling background if you will cause hes striking, I would say is fucking maniac, relentless and unhortodox and mentioning his grappling is superfluos.
If Jones were fighting Anderson Silva he would have a better chance at winning, but Shogun is just too good at getting back to his feet, he used a 'helicopter sweep' against Machida
a thing to note is that everybody Jones has faced with the exception of Bonnar and Vera, has no jiu jitsu background, so Matyushenko, Bader, Hamill, and O' Brien have been taken down, then have done nothing off their backs. Shogun is very active off his back with sweeps, leg locks, and scrambles, he is also a 3rd degree black belt in BJJ now! both of these fighters have BS losses, Jones to Hamill, and Shogun to Machida and Coleman,(he was also not his best against Forrest)
@cazireem it involves strike catch combinations to uses against inexperienced ppl who are trying to beat you up, like catching the strike, throwing a knee, keeping that arm, and tripping them straight into an armbar. My instructor rolled with the likes of Carlson Gracie, Roy Nelson, and other world class black belts. He has been doing Hapkito for over 35 years now!
shogun is going to Muay Thai kick his leg and its going to go flying into a motherfuckers soda and and he is going to use his leg bone as a straw motherfuckers
this fight breaks my heart being a hardcore pride fan,i was hoping shogun was gonna fight a couple fights before Bones got a chance..i beleave bones will win 2nd round tko...but i want shogun to win. love the show btw
I was a fence sitter on this one I couldn't come up with a pick. I like both fighter scenarios. But yeh Jones hasn't been in trouble really yet and thats something Rua brings. Jones has an unorthodox style thats explosive creativity unlike a Jardine type of unorthodox that gets transparent. Statistics play down and play up the stats of the fighters. I believe Shogun is more like 6' and Jones is more like 6'5". Jones towered walking by Anderson Silva at Dana's video blog. Reach advantage!.
@themmanuts it was a great KO but it was more of a lucky punch...he threw it and it landed y think it was more luck than anything just like the sergio martinez KO against paul williams
@breeeee100 which KO? the Machida KO? No it wasnt really all that lucky, Shogun knew Machida threw his straight left without using his shoulder for protection, so as Machida threw that straight left, Shogun through an over-hand right to the temple, there is no such thing as luck, only siezing an opportunity when your opponent makes a mistake!
@themmanuts NO! Its NOT! Knocking out Machida isnt impressive even though he was the #1 ranked LHW fighter in the world, all because @breeeee said so. That is what he thinks, because like a lot of fat virgins who cant beat a 2 year old, he believes that, simply saying a knockout is "not impressive", when he really means that he, himself is a fat loser who is jealous of Shogun's ability to make ppl dream with his fists
@breeeee100 how is Shogun knocking out the now former #1 ranked LHW in the world "not impressive"!? Having the ability to make ppl snooz with your fists means you know how to fight!
I'm like 85% sure Shogun wins this (just because Jones doesn't have the ring experience yet & doesn't seem quite as disciplined / professional). The 15% is the chance that Jones flails about and KOs Rua with one of those crazy spinning fists or flying knees.
No matter what, this has the makeup to be one of the most exciting fights ever!
Jones has arguably lost a round to Stephan Bonnar. And yeah Shogun should win this, the only reason he might not is because of the ring rust. He is the better striker by far, he has the better Jiu Jitsu by far, Jones does have the better wrestling but thats it, Shogun should take this fight.
LOL....the dude on the right picked Bader to beat Bones in UFC126 & Shogun in UFC128...FAIL
