@moe555 but it's true, horrible, but true. well done to the 1million liquidators who gave their lives for others. may those who perished rest in peace.
@lsteer100 I have no doubt that the chernobyl incident was a disaster, but to say that it would level every building within 200km (125 miles) is just plain wrong. The largest FUSION weapon ever detonated (57 Megatons) "leveled" everything within 35km (25 miles), though I understand that degrees of damage were felt far past that. There's no way you could tell me that a FISSION reactor (largest fission weapon was 0.5 Megatons) would be capable of greater destruction.
@moe555 the reason for this is design. if it came into contact with the reservoirs underground, a huge thermo-nuclear explosion would have left a 250km crater in the eastern bloc. true. sorry it goes against your morals but it's true, unlike this disaster movie compilation.
@lsteer100 There's no need to apologize. This isn't an argument of morality, I'm simply arguing the facts. True. If the molten corium hit the underground water reservoirs, it would've created a big steam explosion and spit out more radioactive material. But again, your claim that it would cause a 250km crater or flatten every building in that radius is ridiculous. It would've been a STEAM explosion, not a thermonuclear one.
why didnt they use all that money to help the people. to invest in our futures. why didnt they put it into space exploration and find another planet like the one we have today. all that money . what i waste of money.
if we did use these weapons. and humans did survive afterwards. can you imagine what they would think of us in the future. and how dumb our modern age would look to them.
when is enough enough. what will it take for goverments to see there wrongs.
what will have to happen to our planet before they realize we should be solving our problems in a better way. whos idea was it in order to solve a problem that they should start killing. what made us act like beasts an not as an inteligent race of human beings. its time we got rid of them before someone decides to use one, there wont be anything to fight over if we set them off.
We think that if one covered himself in factor 50 (9 applications within 1 hour) and 1 layer of grease, one would be able to stand naked in the face of a nuclear explosion and suffer no burns.
seen all these movies.... lol

didn't think a nuclear explosion could hurl meteors into Grand Central, but I guess you learn something every day.
