.fla is the like the program file you actually draw in. When you're in flash with your cartoon open, you go 'Control > Test Scene' and then it plays it. When it does this, it saves the cartoon as a .swf, which is just a playback thing. Like movie maker, you have the file itself where it saves all the info and you can still edit it, and then you have the finished movie itself. The .swf is the actual thing. Did taht help at all? lol

you have to convert the .swf file to an .avi - there are free converters on the interner :)
