  • @AllThingsSoftAir "During that era, research was discovered proving that sugar provided energy and that the average person experiences a letdown during the normal day at 10:30a.m., 2:30p.m. and 4:30p.m. A contest was held for the creation of an ad using this new information. The winner of the ad campaign came up with the famous advertising slogan, "Drink a bite to eat at 10, 2, and 4." -- from the Dr Pepper Museum webpage

  • WOW its a glass bottle

  • Nothin' like the 60's, pull tabs 0:24, bottle openers 0:22, the transistor radio 0:53 and surfing on shithouse doors 0:09.

  • Plastic bottles suck... They won't degrade and glass will... Who cares if it cost extra at least it was better for the tormentor...

  • Okay, this is weird, I seem to of somehow mysteriously stumble across my time machine. And I have some how entered the old part of Youtube.

  • I LOVE THIS DRINK SO MUCH :3 :3 :3 :3 :3:3....

  • the seemed incredibly long

  • Corporate Dr. Pepper needs to re-release these cool 10-2-4 deposit bottles and make them with cane sugar!!! Currently, if you bring your own returnable bottles to Dublin Dr. Pepper in Texas, they will trade with or refill your old bottles with Dr. Pepper made with Imperial Cane Sugar.

  • @ 0:52 is that young hulk hogan?

  • i don't see how stuffing a hot dog into a girls face was relevent to drinking dr. pepper. lol

  • Man...Today's commercials are all about using protection and penis enlargers. What happened to the fun commercials like these?

  • wow how come DR. PEPPER commercials now arent that good?

  • whats up with 10,2, and 4?

  • cachy! :)

  • anybudy know the lyrics to this song? if you do can u post it as a comment?

  • Dr. Pepper had a different taste back then, it was better with a more dynamic taste.Todays Dr.Pepper has a more flat taste, what happened??Anyone have the same feeling?

  • @thundermaster41 Probably because they used real Cane Sugar to make soda pop back then. Now most use corn syrup. It really does make a difference in the taste.

  • @justjeff53 Just outside of Dallas Texas, is Dr. Pepper, Texas - and you can purchase Dr. Peppers in the 10-2-4 bottles - and the Dr. Peppers are made from teh ORIGINAL reciept!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol holy shittt this is classic

  • 0:30, EAT IT

0:40, OH that was a quick subliminal

  • You all better join the proud crowd!

  • the best soda pop in the world!!!

  • Retro as! :D

  • This needs more explosions and robots.

  • This commercial pisses me off for some reason.

  • Damn, this was almost like a music video type of commercial. LOL

  • Wow

  • CHARGE XD

  • omg. 10,2,4 in the thumbnail. that equals 24. annnd like last year or somewhere like that. there was a dr pepper 24

    O.O

  • 60's chicks are hot

  • @ghidorah818 i meant that they look like pin up girls

  • What a really fun ad!!!! Love that tune.

  • i now like dr pepper 200000000 times more now

  • remember those pop tops on cans that you could launch across

    the room?

  • Holy shit hot 60s women..

  • now rinkly

  • Part of the excitement involved those old-fashioned cans: You'd pull off the tab and drop it in and then hope you wouldn't swallow it causing certain death from internal lacerations. Life was a thrill back then.

  • I remember watching that commercial on TV in the late 60s, early 70s. Thanks for sharing!!!!

  • Now I want an ice cold Dr Pepper in a 10oz glass bottle.I just watched the Pepsi commercial I need one of those too.

  • LMAO i watched this in gr 7

  • @platypusswagg wow, you must be old.

  • I wish DR. P would do throwbacks again... I'm thirsty for not HFCS.

  • @bdsmcouple They make us get an apple as a side in our school lunch. What these idiots in office don't understand is eating something healthy over something non-healthy isn't going to make you lose weight. If they want to reduce obesity they should start reducing the quantity of food in one serving.

  • @Carnosaurus1337 dont waste your time on the ignorant fool, hes not worth it...

  • Back when you could easily use your drink bottle as a murder weapon.

  • 0:41 the counselors at Camp Crystal lake....and we all know what happened next...

  • this is from the 1970's, since i saw a diet dr pepper bottle

  • dr. pepper tasted so much better when i was a kid.

  • @xcfan Try it in the glass bottle. It's the same with Coca Cola. They add chemicals which stop the can/plastic bottles from ripping apart. What you used to have was probably in a glass bottle.

Oh, and I hear a guy in the South, don't know where, sells the true original formula. Might wanna try looking him up.

  • @xcfan True, back then they used imperial Sugar, You can still get that orginal formula in or around Dublin,Texas. And other parts of Texas as well cost a little more.

  • @xcfan Nobody cares.

  • Well no wonder Dr. Peppers sold so well! They were comparing them to the awesome-ness that is the trumpet! :D

  • @Trumpetqueen8 true story.

  • @Trumpetqueen8 the clarinet rules!!!!!

  • CHARGE!!

  • I'm Remember Will Because So That I Came For Comic Strip From "B.C." 1964 Cartoon With Very Old From Dr.Pepper Commerical It's Was Before Like "American Bandstand" Will Early Around Saturday Afternoon From ABC Series

  • It's things lik this that make me wish i lived in 1960's:(

  • @PrudenceGriffin I can appreciate that. I used to feel the same way about the 1940s and 50s... but it wouldn't be worth trading your youth for. There's a a world of promise and a whole lifetime ahead of you yet. I envy you. :)

  • im pretty sure the 4 is in the 6 'oclock spot

    XD

  • keep pressing 2!!! Hump party

  • i will never play my trumpet again... i'm afraid i'll choke

  • Life would be so sad without Dr. Pepper.

  • Ah Dr Pepper - America's first energy drink. It still beats a cup of coffee, and a lot better tasting than Red Bull or Mountain Dew. Try the sugar version. Charge!

  • this is catchy why can't ads be fun like this dr pepper comercial

  • @ghidorah818 Because the world has become desensitized to this sort of advertisement. That's what happens when our freedoms as individuals are taken to the absolute extreme, such as the case with sexuality (not preference) and public displays. Back then, in regards to society, morals were a far more strict, but, also in the sense of benefit to the world around the people of those generations. It's a real shame, to see freedom hijacked to sell an immoral world =/

  • @ghidorah818 well they had to take the fun out to fit in all the modern day side affects LOL

  • @ghidorah818 Because advertisers don’t give a damn any longer. They just take a good song from the past now to sell their stuff. No creativity left. That’s a shame!

  • @ghidorah818 because sex got in the way D:

  • What do the numbers on the bottle mean?

  • @ririckyrickyracoon03 10+2+4 = 16 ounces.

  • @Tubernaut Acutually your wrong. 10 2 and 4 is when they said to have one. the main break times back in the 60s used to be 10 2 and 4 and that y they say to have one at those times. and those bottles were most certainly not 16 ounces. i do belive they were 8 ozs.

  • @davefeltonrules I now see that the beverage came in a ten ounce bottle.

  • @Tubernaut but it says 10 on the bottle.

  • @ririckyrickyracoon03 From what I discern (and do not take my word for this), the 10, 2, and 4 represent the times when the body tended to need a sort of energy replenishment. As I said, don't necessary take my word for it, and I will have to do a little more research (q.v. Wikipedia or the Dr. Pepper website).

    Hope this was helpful.

  • 0:12 hot 60s girl

  • nice watching comercials that dont make the american white male look like a frigen idiot.

  • That's had battery acid onit

  • were all tha brothers at

  • that had cocaine in it

  • holy LONG commercial batman

  • That was actually a "retro" ad back them. The "drink a bite to eat at 10, 2 and 4" bit went back to the radio days.

  • ChARGE Aim FIRE SKEET

  • Hot Dr Pepper ad

  • Does anybody remember during Christmastime when Dr Pepper would advertise making HOT Dr Pepper? It had to be aroun d the time this ad was out. I'd sure like to know how to make it. Thanx.

  • @TheSV3

No, but I remember the hot Coke ads. It sounded gross and didn't catch on, understandably. I think the ad campaign ran only one or two years.

  • Damn.... Times seemed cool back then,

    Casually drinking a Dr.Pepper the.. OMG WTF Its a trumpet ? :D

  • that ice bucket and the ice is older than me LOL

  • Man, those people REALLY like Dr. Pepper.

  • This is back when Dr. Pepper was the best. The Coke company screwed it up royally. It tastes nothing like it did in the 70's and earlier, even though it still isn't bad. If you could taste it from back in 74 and compare it to now, you wouldn't believe the difference.

  • 4 people didn't get charged

  • omg why was i not fucking 13 years old in the 60s so i could remember these.

  • Comment removed

  • nothing beats dr. pepper. its the best

  • Ah yes, the old pull tabs on the cans...

  • @virnman nuthing like stepping on one with bare feet..LOL ...or swallowing one yea the good old days..

  • I want the portable radio at 0:52!

  • wish there was dr. pepper in germany

  • Do they offer rehab for soda pop?? I think I might need to go off to Betty Ford.

  • Notice 10 ounces. people now drink supersized sodas at 44 ounces. No wonder the country is so fat.

  • @bdsmcouple

More like the switch from sugar to high fructose corn syrup.

  • @bdsmcouple Except they wanted you to drink one at 10, 2 and 4 o'clock every day!

  • @bdsmcouple Too bad you can't prove that to be true.

  • @bdsmcouple or people could have...ya know...drunk 4 cans of Dr. Pepper if they felt like it, huh? =/

  • @bdsmcouple There are a few reasons why Amerikans became fat...Circa 1985, the US GUBBMINT under the REAGAN ADMINISTRATION subsidized farmers to overproduce corn. Subsequently, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP (shown to contain mercury & attributable to the ever increasing obesity rate) was added to American 'BIG CORPORATION' soda products and cereals. Secondly, virtually all our food today is INDUSTRIALLY FARMED. Third, GMO's were mass planted across the US beginning in 1996.

  • @VengeanceIsMine79 It is spelled A-M-E-R-I-C-A

    Can not even spell, sheesh...

  • @Phalanx3800 Your precious America has been stolen like a thief in the night. What cave did you just crawl out of? lol You need to work on your sarcasm...its as stale as month old bread. Start off googling this for your education: US Air Force dumped hundreds of remains of dead American soldiers from Dover base into landfill

  • @VengeanceIsMine79 Start with this.

    American cocks are bigger.

  • @VengeanceIsMine79 What size is your tin foil hat?

  • @VengeanceIsMine79 Boooooooooooooring.

  • @VengeanceIsMine79 Americans became fat because they're fucking lazy and don't eat right, not due to some great government conspiracy.

  • Comment removed

  • @Boxtop5000 But yeah, your right!! You're what you eat...That's if they even have a clue what they've been eating or drinking.

  • @bdsmcouple 4th, loss of many VITAL NUTRIENTS in food due to soil erosion because of overuse of the soil with toxic persistent pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, larvacides, fungicides,etc...5th, tens of millions of Americans are on anti-depressants which have been known to cause obesity. 6th, the MICROWAVE nukes out all nutrients in the food. Last but not least, Americans don't know how to cook a friggin' omelette. This country is completely opposite what it was 50 years ago!!!

  • @bdsmcouple LOL.

  • this really makes me want a dr.pepper

  • they stop making the glass bottles because not to many ppl had bottle openers =( i say BRING BACK THE GLASS BOTTLES AND NO MORE WASTE CANS!!!

  • waaaaaaaant now :(

  • dr pepper commercial from the 60's ? here in germany we still downt have it ! only in 0,5 ml bottles to get 2 liters i have to drive to our neighbours the netherlands but if i drive the way to get a dr pepper i get me some weed too ;D

  • I love to drink Dr.Pepper.

  • 1970s i believe

  • My three sons and I love Dr. pepper, but my wife thinks it tastes like medicine. In Australia, we have to go to special shops to get it now though as it's not carried by the larger grocery stores anymore.

  • @gupsnot i'm sorry..that must be trying

  • @curlylockproductions

    damn straight it is!

  • lol at 0:30

  • What did 10. 2. 4 supposed to mean in the

    commercial?

  • @The209788837 They want you to drink it at 10am, 2pm, and 4pm to keep your energy up between meals

  • is just me or that these TV ad are better then now

  • @azazaz206 yup everything was better back then

  • Comment removed

  • @azazaz206 lol yeh, probably cause there wasnt so much psychiatry and shit involved in ads.

  • @Menelyagor12 you need to watch the "How To Be A Good Woman" ads from the 50s and 60s...advertising never was any different from today =P the message is, and always has been, "If you buy our products you'll fit in, you'll join the Winning Team, and people will like you better."

  • @rofflemows2 ...note in this ad when it says, "Join the proud crowd." point made, the defense rests.

  • @azazaz206

    1. They last longer, thus don't strengthen the ADHD our doctors say all the children have nowadays. A recent study done on children who watch Spongebob (with constantly shifting scenes) score less on cognative tests than children who draw about 10 minutes per day. Focus is conditional, apparently.

    2. It's not about comedy, it's about the jingle. Better jingle = better ad back then. They used to figure if a song was good enough, people would hum it with others asking what's the song.

  • lol this reminds me of mad men hit like if this reminds u of it too

  • I still remember that "At 10, 2, and 4 / You'll always want more, more, more!" line from this commercial - or maybe an earlier one.

  • *clap-clap-clap* Pretty catchy :D

  • Why does this make me hot and bothered? Now I want to go out and get myself some dope and a hooker. HOLY SHI*!

I need the difference! CAN YOU FEEL IT?! "Proud Crowd" ... notice they are all white?! YEEHAW!

  • Times sure did look fun back then! What was up with the numbers 10, 2, and 4 though??

  • Diet Dr Pepper in those days sucked! Its so much better today.

  • luv the bangjo lol

  • Ooh baby!

Ain't nothin' like those 60's babes!

  • What?! No 24 flavors?!

  • commercials were a lot better back then.

  • John F. Kennedy: " How does it feel to be an All-American?"

Forrest Gump: " I have to go pee." Lol too many Dr. Peppers!

  • iam in aus and tried an imported dr.pepper AND THEY TASTE LIKE COUGH MEDICINE aka...(SHIT!)

  • @snakehead404 Lol, you are not alone man, it is nasty.

  • drink a bite to eat? lol was it thicker back in the day? i have some of those old dr p bottles

  • @dixiegurl2303 It tasted much better back then.

  • Why can't they run commercials like these anymore?

  • The guy at 0:14 looks like Don Draper from MadMen

  • Annoying.
