Seriously - Julie Christie over Marion Collitard??? Really ??? NO Way - thank goodness people came around to there senses by the time the Oscars came around. Marions performance doesnt even compare to any other performances of that year. SHE was absolutley amazing! even though the film was in french, she somehow manages to feel the character, the life and music of Edith Piaf. Im still in AWE!
@shnooger This particular year I did watch all the ladies performance in their nominated films. Julie christie was good yes. But the film overall was boring. Cate Blancett is Awsome, but she should of won for the original film of Elizabeth and not Gwenth P. 10 years earlier. Ellen P. was ok. Laura Linney was great. But Marion was AMAZING. Had it not been Marion I think Cate should have won for being robbed 10 years earlier. Marion was that good, she won for a French language film. : )
@TheAngelmuse Oh, OK...cool. But Laura Linney's not one of the nominees here (are you thinking of the Oscars?lol.) Anyway, Julie won for her peformance, not for the overall film...otherwise it would be a different category. I agree with you that Cate shoulda won a decade before. I'll have to watch that Piaf movie one of these days (and maybe I'll say, "Hey, TheAngelMuse is right!"). Marion won the Oscar anyway (the big one!). Peace : )
@shnooger ahh ok cool.... yes PLEASE watch La Vie en Rue. I was not expecting to be taken on a journey of this amazing life, that of Edith Piaf. If you love great perfermances. dont let this one pass you by to long. Anyhow, let me know when you do finally watch. Id love to hear your opinion. You seem to appreciate and know about talented performance. Cate as Elizabeth is one of my favorites roles in film, so im glad you So Enjoyed that film too! Peace .......
@TheAngelmuse SAGrepresents actors votes & they voted for Julie Chrisite, as did Criitcs groups(ie NYFilm Critics, Nat.lSociety, BroadcastFilmCritics, Nat. Board of Review). Unfortunately, with the Oscars 3 weeks away, M.Cotillard went on a "vote for moi, s'il vous plait?" campaign, Oscar voters for the award are variedprofessions(techs, actors, agents)UNrepresentative of the Peers as SAG is. You're also using an incorrect form of "there", should be "their"&her name is Cotillard, notCollitard
I'm from Belleville, New Jersey (common location where The Sopranos was previously shot), I used to see the cast everywhere before then. I met James, a very nice fellow, not like Tony at all.
I'm glad Julie Christie didn't win the oscar-Marion Cotillard deserved it. Also, am I the only one who believes that Tommy Lee Jones should have been up for an Oscar nomination for "No Country for Old men" instead of Philip Seymour Hoffman.
I even think Brolin should have been up for lead actor. Seriously: after reading the book and seeing the movie, I have never, ever seen a movie where book characters are so well interpreted and adapted onto screen! That movie and book centered on those three characters, and all of them should have been recognized.
It is an action film and came out in the summer, both of which will likely hurt his chances, but he was very well-respected by Hollywood and this is their last opportunity to give him an award.
I don't know who else will be nominated, but I think he's got a pretty good chance unless there's someone in a December movie who really blows all of the competition away (it's happened before).
Well, I do give you credit for remembering Peter Finch, but look, Finch has a long long career, plus he blew the movie away, it wasn't just because he died.
And Network, was a drama, and DK is a action movie. So Heath, might be nominated, but defintly won't win.
All that's true - but remember he was also up against De Niro in Taxi Driver.
Ledger, although he hasn't had a long career, has done quite well, and also 'blew away' the Dark Knight. I do think he has a lock on a nomination, but not a win (although a win is possible). Had the movie come out four days ago instead of four months, I think he would be very likely to win. People have won for action roles before.
Anyway, not too much point in arguing about it - we'll find out for sure in a few months.
LOL, they probably don't even know who Peter Finch is, TDK/Heath Ledger fanboys are nothing but pseudo film goers who think they know about movies because they like that piece of shit called The Dark Knight.
How insightful, I love how stupid idiots like you think that being part of the popular consensus makes their opinion more valid, please, grow a brain and then maybe you can address me, you stupid piece of shit.
what do you expect? the socially inept need an outlet to insult, comment and express themselves in a way they know people cannot identify or find them, they have to say such crap as they know they could never say what they're thinking to anyone's face as they are weak and spineless.....

Don't work yourself up. At this stage in her career and with her general attitude towards the business I doubt Julie Christie cares whether she wins or loses.

I'm still dissapointed that Jolie was snubbed at the Oscars and BAFTAs. But I'm glad she was recognized by these other major awards shows. The SAG nom was great because it meant her peers recognized her work.
Thanx for the upload!! Could anybody possibly upload Edie Falco and James Gandolfini winning their awards? It'd be great if somebody could, the Sopranos is my favourite show, i'm upset that it's ended but i'm glad it went out winning the awards it did!
I totally agree. But this IS the SAG Awards, Christe is a veteran among the union members. I just hope Marion wins the Oscar. I think she still has a good shot (but as Christe wins the SAG and most probably the BAFTA - she IS British after all - her chances are increasing at the higher rate).
Check out @5:50-6:00ish on this video. Josh, buddy, we thought we saw you pick your nose on the SAG awards, but this confirms it. Note to actor: let someone else do the talking. The disingenuous self-deprecation is bad enough without the pick it and flick it. Anybody out there think this is a scratch? Yuck.
