  • It doesn`t protect against sharks, meteorites, oil tankers or underwater volcanoes

  • doesnt protect against sharks though

  • How do you pee in that suit if you have to stay in it for lets say 24 hours ?

  • @nakostyfoon well, when you're trying the survive, you forget about pee-ing. Seriously.

But u just have to piss yourself, if its gonna happen, then its gonna happen.

  • its only good for 24 hours

  • @CSIS25 In 0 degree waters, The survival time in it is 6 hours. There is no limit to it's watertightness.

  • @eilirudy I seen a studie that was 24, well thats what the goverment is telling people when a choper went down off the coast of Newfoundland

  • @CSIS25 I was at an offshore survival refresher course 2 weeks ago and they told us these specific suits shown in this video are meant to keep us alive for 6 hours in 0 degrees centigrade waters (32 degrees Farenheit). After 6 hours we would start suffering from hypothermia. Are you sure it was these specific suits they were talking about? I work mostly in Norway and we only use the Helly Hansen SeaAir suits here. They cost around 8000$ each. Best available in the market.

  • @eilirudy I just googled the crash you mentioned. Tragic really. 17 people dead out of 18. Offshore workers are trained to evacuate capsized and sinking helicopters but it seems this helicopter hit the waters too hard. It's next to impossible to survive a helicopter hitting the water at free fall.

The report I read did mention the 24 hour survivability but that's just BS. Most oil companies like to save money by using lesser quality suits totally disregarding the safety of their employees.

  • @eilirudy Sorry my mistake, it was the Helly Hansen type E452 that was good for 24 hours, sorry for the comfusion

  • @CSIS25 No worries bud. We used the E452 here too before the SeaAir came out. The SeaAir is supposed to be an upgrade not a downgrade. I'll contact Helly Hansen tomorrow and get info from them about the E452. The government might have intentionally misinformed people about the survival time in those suits.

The whole point with the suits is to give us enough time for rescue to arrive which is a max of 2.5 hours here in Norway if the rescue helicopter takes off from land.

  • @eilirudy I cant find the web site of where the media came out can told the people that it was 24 hour survival time, but i did how ever find it on wikipedia "i know not every thing on the web site is true" but i did how ever find the stament on the web site.

I brang it up because there was a Cougar Helicopter Flight 91 that crashed do to a gearbox losing oil pressure. The people on bord it used the E452.

  • Mmmmm emergency bacon!! :D

  • Interesting video. My brother lives in Stavanger and it's nice to hear the accent of my sister in law on here.
