yeah, its still the same today, sure they dont stick ice picks in our eyes and tear out teeny little starnd of brain anymore (in this country at least), but they still feed us pharmaceuticals out the ass. Never taken prescription mood enhancers, NEVER will.
i hope they blow a fuse and cant use that machine on those poor patients, dont shocki em, work with the person first my god!. stupid torturers anyway.
@coinsred do some research on phychiatry and Pharmaceutical, or experience it before you make a uneducated comment like that. That's all I all if have to say. No need to reply.
wow, profits could number to 5 billion for lobotomy, and 7 billion for thorazine.... IN 1950.... thats crazy, the buying power of that is equal to like around 50 billion....
@dizzymissy13 Because makers of the video didn't talk to or didn't personally know people who receive electroshock therapy voluntarily because, unfortunately, it is the only thing that helps their condition longterm.
Most of the "techniques" described here only happened in the past. Electroshock Therapy has number of academic studies supporting benefits of this method, something makers of this video never tell you. They are so hell bent on "exposing" psychiatry they no longer care for truth...
not all pychiatrists are these evil beings that want to cause you brain damage. And I'm not sure what a mental hospital is like but I was place on a phsyc ward awhile back. I was there for a week and I was just fine, they feed you, talk to you, you have your own room and you arent strapped to the bed. You can call people from a phone they have, watch tv,play video games. It really wasnt bad at all.
I wouldn't say it's propaganda, I know many people who talked about their experiences in mental asylums and horrible things happened there. Besides, this film states the truth of what was happening and still happens in the whole world.
If any of you people are actually bought into this whole demonizing of psychiatry BS, then you are terribly misinformed. I work with mentally ill patients, and I can tell you first hand that psychiatrists, and psychiatric medications have improved the quality of life of MILLIONS of patients... I would also say that anti-depressant medications have prevented countless suicides as well.
I beilive you, anti pychotics have helped me not kill myself. I'm just shocked that it took such a disasterous road to get to now, where they give out pills. some people really need the pills, others dont. theres pychiatrists that dont care about thier patients and just everything on them, mine sees I struggle, if I where to say I was going to kill myself, she wouldnt just shove some pills in my face, tell me to come back in a month, shed get me some help.
I went thru a psychiatric nightmare late 50's. The CIA had a secret brainwash program code named MKUltra. They paid a Dr Cameron in Montreal to carry it out. He injected LSD mixed with other drugs, Massive electric shocks and weeks of sleep as a brainwash tape played. I am telling my story on You Tube called youkilledyourmother
What many don't think about..... we are the people who are the people who discover, find out, want to help our fellow man.
Sure, in the past.... many bad things have happened....but it really was a coming of age. Today, everything is so regulated and controlled, it is difficult to point fingers at all. And again remember, there isn't EVIL OVERLOADS OF PHARMA PSYCHE! We have sorted all this stuff out, now all we have to worry about are developing countries and un-natural drug design.
But, some of their intentions were good. They tried to cure people. And look for solutions. Now people who get medication are fully informed what the symptoms will be, good or side-effects. Off course, with new medication they can't say, what the effects are after a long period of time, like 20 years. But now doctors can't take money from firms anymore, or other stuff (not in my country anyway) or they will be fired and not be able to start again as a psych.
some things in this documentary are true.... but now much has changed, and that unbalance of the brain, it exists, when you get ct's of brains from people with psychological problems, u have now evidence of brain damage caused by the sickness. Not being treated means in some cases: heavier symptoms, more brain damage (schizophrenia) or being sick the rest of your life (depression). Some shrinks and pharmaceutical industry must have done things in past and also now for money.

this documentary sucks...psychiatries dont do brain surgery...thats for the neurosurgeon 2 do.and if u would document abt it u would see that loboctomy is usefull and u ll see patients who stopped having epilepsia.
Biggest drug dealers are the PSYCHIATRIST.

there has been more harm than benefit by "psychiatrists" taking into consideration all the years its been in practice.
