I even seem to recall an interview from back in the day, where they pretty much said that this whole album was an hommage to THEIR idols. That doesn't have to be a bad thing, as you pointed out.
@cmatthewsable they are all over the place, festivals are an amazing thing these days with a ridiculous variety of styles from folk to dubstep and anywhere in between, White Stripes are one of the best commercially successful that I can think of as far as straight up rock goes but then there's alot more out there too
This is class. Somewhere on this website theres a vid of She Sells Sanctuary and its the worst live performance i've seen. Of any band. It must have been a monday.
Saw this tour in Houston, Guns n Roses warmed them up with their appetite for destruction album, To this day, that was the most awesome concert I have ever been to. Of course I was tripping my brains out, but hey, that's what concerts are for right?!!!
Whenever I listen to good ole rock n roll makes me really miss it. hate the crap rap they keep playing over and over and over on the radio. Nowadays just because it's overplayed on the radio makes it good. Wrong! Feel sorry for teenagers nowadays.
thank you! im 16 and looooove the classics! i hate mtv, and the radio its all bullshit! its now just hot chicks and black guys that cant sing and get other people to write their songs! im soo glad u sympathize!
Malcom Young plays a Gretsch Duo Jet through Marshall amps, but that's not the point. Rubin took them in this direction, the original versions of the songs sounded like heavier "LOVE Album" songs. It was great stuff too, but the "Electric" album is an all time classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is definitely a fact that Billy was going for that ACDC riff sound. He admits it himself when being interviewed about the manor sessions and how they evolved with Rick Rubin when changing producers.
The major difference is that Billy used Gretch through Marshalls and not an SG like Angus.
I reckon he managed to keep it unique aswell as draw from that same power that Angus taps into when he composes a fucking ball tearing riff!
uh, yes this sounds like AC/DC, I don't think that's an insult. I'm surprised the more I go back and listen to my old heavy metal records from the 80's how many bands took a lot of their sound from AC/DC. You may say Billy Duff kills Angus, but all it takes is one lick from Angus for you to realize it is angus, and to me that's impressive. But not hearing AC/DC in this is like listening with no ears. Yes bands influence each other, I can't imagine. This is a great song! peace
Angus Young only wishes he was as good as Billy Duffy...I play AC/DC and The Cult on guitar and AC/DC has what...like 8 chords they play in every song...The Cult kills AC/DC

Derivative yes, but quite good. In Electric you can find samples of almost any rock classic, from Cream to AC/DC.

ACDC???? To me they are like The Doors on steroids, lol! The lead singer has stood in on a few Doors concerts in the last 10 or so years.

AC/DC ?
I just don't see it, and I play lots of AC/DC and Cult with my band...so I know the progessions inside out.
It's kinda like when people tried to say Led Zep was ripping off Black Sabbath...ridiculous but non-musicians have wild speculations.
