  • Maybe the best definition of "bad beat" would be when one player outplays the other, but the worse player wins by sheer luck. But that's extremely subjective, so people usually just use the "worse hand wins" definition, which is a decent proxy.

  • @slimmdogg420 I agree, I consider a bad beat to be when one person goes all in with the better hand and loses. Though I don't completely agree with the connotations - if you don't factor in the possibility of sucking out against aces in your chances against your opponent's range, you're doing it wrong.

    But some people seem to think a bad beat is whenever anyone wins with a draw. Never mind that the probability of pair + flush draw on the flop improving to two pair or better is a coin flip.
