  • you shouldn't go round when tuning, as it can put pressure on the other lugs which can lead to a warped shell in the worst cases, good vid though man overall, well done!

  • what's the name if the first song ?

  • @KaosGate Uprising by Muse

  • what size is that ride?

  • excellent video dude! im glad to see a tuning video from a fellow grunge drummer!

  • What is the song of 4:04 minute? when you change the head of the snare? is very nice, good video

  • @mich1396 The song is called Exogenesis Symphony Part 1 by the band Muse! :D

  • @randomguy123ish Thaanks friend ! is very nice song =D

  • @mich1396 No problem man (: and it sure is :p

  • This helped me out so much. I've been playing drums for 10 years and never knew how to tune drums (I'm self taught and always wanted lessons >.>). But thank you for the tuning section so much. It's helped me a lot.

  • @TheMoistTeam my bad, sorry!

  • Deftones at the end!

  • @nobody666cares it's weezer

  • @andrewsmithify i didnt mean right at the end, its deftones before weezer.

  • the reason they become loose is because you're not doing the star configuration

  • I don't know how I've never seen any of your videos. You're the bee's knees, brother!

  • Does anyone think it would be okay to stand on a coated bass drum head to stretch it out? I'm only saying this because coated heads seem to be less flexible.

  • What kit is that?

  • @Rory5421 DW Collectors Series

  • U should swap those reso heads too...how old are they?

  • Are they better than remo?

  • i just got new heads and the sound has a very long wavy echo, i wound assume that the bottom has to be tighter to reduce the echo but i have no idea. what should i do ?

  • @jetininjaman If the echo is at a higher pitch than the sound of the drum when you hit it, then the bottom head (resonant head) is to high. If thats the case tune both heads to the same pitch. If you hit the drum and then you get a sort of whining, groaning sort of sound and the pitch gets lower, then you need to crank the batter head (top head) to the same pitch as the resonant head. And then obviously if the drum is pitched to high overall then just bring down the pitch of both heads.

    JOSH

  • :( I want a 9000 pedal

  • 2:17 Stick in his mouth :D

  • i use the star method when tuning my drum heads..... but dont push the heads down to fit..... going to start that now :D

  • other then taking the pressure on the toms down equally, id say really good video on tuning!

  • could u tell me the name of song at 1:30? tnx

  • @vmars87 Hey bud, it's (The Tale Of) Frosty Jackson by This Et Al. Very difficult to find their music. I can't find anywhere to buy it.

  • @rabiddaffy pity :( tnx man!

  • @vmars87 Sometimes you can find ripped versions online by typing in The Figure Eight - EP. I'm not sure how illegal that is since they no longer sell their stuff anymore lol.

  • @rabiddaffy ya lol ! i looked around the net and I've read about the end of the band and i've searched for the song..but I didn't find a shit on google :( maybe do u have it?

  • @vmars87 You can get their B Sides album off of Myspace for free download. Haha I do have them, only lesser quality though.

  • I just want to let you know that it is extremely important to change the resonant heads around 2 - 3 times you change your batter heads (not including bass drum) Thats where all the tone and sustain comes from :)

  • MUSE ROCKS!!!

  • Ni puta idea de afinar...

  • when you tune the batter head do all the lugs have to sound the same as well or doesnt it really matter?

  • man i use Gretsch and had the same drum heads for over 4 years and their still good you should check them out

  • Owwww I want the old drum heads...Mine are worse than that....

  • Do you tune the bottom head tighter for every piece? (snare and bass drum too?) plz answer =]

  • Awesome sound, I got Evans myself and I LOVE them!

  • what the name of the song between 4:08 to 4:55 ? (:

  • @MrMedalhunter That's one of Muse's symphonies from their album 'The Resistance'. They've got three symphonies they did on that album, check them out.

  • Whats the song at 5:40?

  • nice. i just subscribed, you have a lot of muse covers. they're my favorite band

  • Thanks so much for the lesson on tuning the drums and changing heads, this is brilliant! I'm wanting to get back into playing the drums again and one of the things I never really got the hang of (back in the day) was tuning the kit. The stretching of the heads over the edge of the drums was particularly interesting to me.

  • Awesome Ben, I'm really happy for you. Can't wait to hear some of your fabulous, expressive drumming on them and see if I can hear the difference!!

  • why u put pillow in bass

  • @mrgaijin17 dampens the drums.

  • Ben, you have taught me so much with this vid. thank you very much :D you rock bro

  • incubus :D

  • coated g2s are so nice

  • What's the song at the end, right before Weezers We Are All On Drugs?

  • pause at 0:17. YUMMY

  • I personally hate evans because they detune and lose their tone really quickly but remo and aquarian are both great heads

  • holy shit i only figured out your british now

  • Haha love We Are All On Drugs at the end by Weezer!

  • You're my role model when it comes to drumming, Ben =)

  • what the song right at the end?

  • Evans are ok... they detune too often though.. thats why I use Aquarian... although Remo heads are the worst.

  • why you do it in a circle??? it can cracking when you do it like that

  • i like the colour. :D

  • Master !

  • I've just learned alot about drums. Never knew how to tune them or anything as I never got further than my guitar.

Well explained and clearly spoken. Thanks for sharing your new drums and keep the new (and probably better) covers coming!

  • 3:12 . . omg there's a ghost. in the right corneer.

    thee carpet is moving. O.o

  • @LaDrummerDJ u do realise thats a curtain, he's probably got the window open, so its probably just the wind :D

  • Very nice vid good sir

  • Great video!!

  • bye bye remo

  • I like which direction you're going with this, not just covers anymore, but instructional videos. What's next, lessons? Teach us how to do some of your covers?

  • you step on the bass drum head? why's that? it can support that much weight without breaking? WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • what snare is that?? its beautiful

  • sweeet set up man

  • heck yea Evans!!!!!!!!! I love g2's very nice tone..... Hey ben if there's a suggestion I could give you, another snare head from evans that I prefer over the hd is the evans power center reverse dot...... Makes the snare sing!!!!!

  • ur gonna love thaqt genera HD. i had that one. im using a power center, but that was my old snare skin. Evans will never make u sad

  • wow, great heads, i just tune my drum with your old heads XD emperor x in the snare but in the toms i have de ebony, i have 1 question... ahhmm.. the chain of my snare sounds when i hit my toms, why? can i clear that sound? or reduce? sounds really high :SSS

  • nice drums!

  • gotta loveeee how new heads look :P

  • Great! video! Extremely helpful, especially for a drummer thats relatively novice on the whole tuning and replacing heads bit. Thanks Ben!

  • I cant wait to here them in your next drum video!!!

  • noticed there was an iron cobra single pedal in the background and your using the dw 9000 is there any chance your selling it ? brilliant stuff again tho man and good luck with the evans

  • whoo ben switched to evans!!

  • Awww, I wish I could here the new heads
