  • loose

  • how is the name of the song which started at 1:09 ??? thx

  • To every one who thinks that Billie Joe is gay, he has a wife you know...

  • Funkmerunning

  • He namechecked so many great bands

  • I am not a big fan of Green Day by any means but your sexual orientation isn't a choice, so this is pointless to care about.

  • Why would anyone care if Billie Joe is bisexual. Isn't rock and roll supposed to be for the outsider?

  • Billy Joe Meat-Squeezer introducing The Stooges? Kill that guy!

  • and my fuckin' band too LOL

  • Would suck that one day green day gets inducted by some gay band like falloutboy?

  • Is there some "unwritten rule" in the "punk handbook" that says Iggy Pop, as the Father of Punk, is exempt from the laws against "selling out", and can do it all he wants to, because everyone from Johnny Rotten to Billie Joe Armstrong will continue to respect him?

  • Billy Joe--get used to being up there! Someone will be inducting you in 10 years!

  • ALL THE GOOD FUCKING BANDS!!!!!! Fuck people who say punk ain't shit! We'll beat you fucking brains in!!!!!

  • Aw, I don't think anyone understood about the peanut butter XD

  • stop it now! sellouts, not sellouts, good music, shitty music, WE DONT FUCKING CARE, if Iggy wanted Green Day to be at that thing, that's it, respect his choice, fuck. if you don't like Green Day or anyone from this band, shut the fuck up, by the way, just respect every single fucking band cited by Billie Joe, EVEN GREEN DAY. all these stupid debates are fucking annoying, like you can't EVEN respect someone else's music.

  • oh man! I don't see Iggy's nipples!! what the hell!!!

  • Fuck man... Nothing against Green Day and stuff like that but Billie Joe FUCKED IT UP!!!

  • I hate the word sellout, the point of being a musician is to make a living of f of what your doing, no matter the genre.

  • -like

  • Billie looks line he's gonna have an orgasm x)

  • Awesome

  • Great speech..... To me he's the king or rock!!! IGGY!!!

  • @rejectminority same thing to a man named Henry Rollins.

  • @BiafraMain Amen!!!

  • the hives ! fuck yeah !

  • FUCK ALL OF YOU! GREEN DAY ARE THE FUCKING BEST ! IF U DONT THINK SO YOU DONT KNOW REAL MUSIC AND U SOD GO SUCK GEORGEW BUSHES DICK!

  • 6:47 die toten hosen

its funny i love when billie talks german :D

  • I can't stomach all these ignorants Bubby Ho Sellout groupiones on this page. He gave a lousy speech with shitty jokes. It's about par with his talent. I thought American Idiot was a great song, but apparently it was an accident. His music sucks otherwise, and so does his entire being.

  • Iggy AND the Stooges are GODS. Green Day SUCKS. If Bubby Joe Elliot ever took any lessons from punk rock, he would've done something different with his music career than suck corporate cock with pop rock his entire life.

Pearl Jam influenced by the Stooges? ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS? OH well, history is written by the winners and the sellouts.

Doesnt matter who inducts the Stooges in the HALL OF SHEIT. What they did noone can imagine, but the records do give you a feeling.

  • @TheRealCritique You could not possibly be more wrong. When did punk rock turn into this closed gated community where only the most elite hardcore crust bands can be punk? Punk rock is supposed to be an accepting community of people with the same collective idea: doing whatever the fuck you want. The Stooges do whatever the fuck they want. Green Day does whatever the fuck they want. As long as punk rock is ground zero for a band, they can never not be punk, or some derivative of punk.

  • @jimmyjazz82391 If a punk rock band plays Seals and Crofts in a gay lame pop way, they are no longer a punk band. Music names were invented to classify periods in music as much as styles. Rarely bands come along and redefine styles, but mostly styles are from one period. Technically punk has been dead since 1980 really, but you could argue it lasted until grunge and started with Iggy Pop in 1969 whenever. Green Day aren't punk because they are POP ROCK. if you dont get it, oh well.

  • @TheRealCritique No, it's you who obviously doesn't get it. Punk has never been dead because punk's never been away. Where do you think it went from 1980 to 1991? Sex Pistols, mumble mumble maybe something happened, then hello, Nirvana? No, it all went underground. Green Day was mainly influenced during that period, that's where they got their start. They started in a dive bar punk club in Cali. Their square one is punk rock, it will always be punk rock.

  • @TheRealCritique You just can't accept that they DID redefine the style. Nirvana open the door for Green Day to do just that. And no, music names were invented by stuck-up music critics who just look at music subjectively and not in any deeper sense and it's turned everyone into people like you, where they bicker about Genre X & Genre Y and how they're different, and how one is a sell-out. Ignorant people like you make me sick. That's right, you're ignorant, Mr. "Punk's Been Dead Since 1980."

  • @TheRealCritique Seriously, who are you to say what's punk or not? Were you around to experience it in its prime, with The Clash & The Ramones? Have you ever seen Green Day live? Have you seen ANY punk band live for that matter? No, because you're an ignorant douche who gets off on thinking he's right all the time and that everyone is a fucking moron. Punk was never supposed to be about being closed-minded, punk should inspire people to think outside the box. That'll always be punk to me.

  • @jimmyjazz82391 amen.

  • lol i feel like the shamwow guy!!

  • oh my god at 1:01 GODDAMN I WISH I HAD SEEN THAT SHOW!!

  • Fuck Abba

  • See ya, fuckers!!!!!

  • The Godfather of Punk!! Long live Iggy!!!

  • henry rollins should have inducted iggy pop

billy joe has no credentials to induct anyone

henry has track record 1000 miles long

  • @cavalierfan1995 - I agree with you, Billie Joe didn't deserve to induct The Stooges. I agree that guys like Henry Rollins or even Wayne Kramer (of the MC5) should of inducted them, If Dee Dee Ramone was still alive maybe he would of been perfect to induct them. There's more Musicians I can go on and on about.... It's just Billie Joe and Green Day don't even know what Punk really was back in the day. That's why they're not Punk.... they're Sellouts.

  • u dont know what ur tlkin bout u stupid cunt

  • @Obrian81 Iggy's a fan of Green Day who's collaborated with them on several songs so I think he'd disagree! Green Day started out growing up in the East Bay punk scene, living in squats, playing tiny venues and living rooms, touring in a van. They grew up in a punk scene, that's where their influences and values came from. Yeah they signed to a major label but didn't every well known punk band do that in the 70s? Iggy advertises insurance these days LOL......how are they "sellouts" and he isn't?

  • @hermionexxx The Clash signed to a major label, and sold triple and double records for half the price Green Day sells a standard 12 song record. The Sex Pistols made the least commercial music around, was kicked off two major labels and scared people. In short, they didn't sell records. Iggy sold no records in the 70s. That's right, none. Green Day makes pop music, dumbed down for the mainstream with centre radicalist politics. They play arena rock shows, they kiss the babies of their fans.

  • @GrungeRockabilly Kurt Cobain designed a t-shirt that described Green Day perfectly. Flower Sniffing, Kitty Petting, Baby kissing Corporate Rock Whores

  • @GrungeRockabilly : Man did you just answer yourself?

  • @Rednospunk I'm gangsta like that

  • @GrungeRockabilly Green Day never played hard punk music, they had pop influences in their sound from the start. Have you heard their independant label albums? They didn't change their sound when they signed to a major label. You might not LIKE their pop influenced style of music but that doesn't mean it was written with any less integrity. Doubt they care who thinks they're punk, they're too busy make great, relevant records and putting on amazing live shows that are all about having fun.

  • @hermionexxx Well, any sort of integrity they had was lost around American Idiot. I do not think they were the crustiest gutter punks around, but that was sort of the beauty of Green Day. But even that dissappeared with American Idiot, a shame really. And keep in mind, I said MAKES, what they made before was still pop music, but it was different than the pop music around at the time.

  • @GrungeRockabilly I think the music's changed naturally, he was already writing much more outward-looking lyrics on Warning and progressed from there. Would've rather seen them take that leap with their music than rehash old stuff. The only real difference is how they look and I don't really give a shite about that. They still put on fun shows and having seen their side project Foxboro Hot Tubs in a tiny venue in '09 they can definitely still get down and dirty with the fans! Good then good now

  • @hermionexxx I think he got older and boring, his lyrics are shite. Good then, shite now.

  • @GrungeRockabilly Fair enough, lucky the old stuff's still there to hear anyway. I recommend giving the Foxboro Hot Tubs album they released in 2008 a listen though (it's just the members of Green Day dressed up like a 60s garage band). Simple, fun 60s style music and lyrics. Dunno your taste but if you prefer simpler fun Green Day songs to rock operas you might like it. Called Stop Drop And Roll if you're interested. Or look up their live videos on youtube to see their amusing drunken antics.

  • @hermionexxx Nah, it´s still Green Day. Whatever they make from here on out to me will just either be a pop record, with ROCK trimmings, or it will just be a hopeless attempt to legitimize themselves to the underground audience. Which in my opinion, is kind of sad. But I appreciate that you didn´t rage because I dissagreed with you though. Good on ya :)

  • @GrungeRockabilly I think you've got them wrong. They make music because they enjoy it, just because they've changed their sound in a way you don't like doesn't mean it was written with any less integrity than the old stuff. Never seen a band have so much fun on stage, I saw them play a 3 hour arena show then drive across town and play a 2 hour show in a sweaty club all in one night and they were loving it. I don't doubt their motives. Only thing that matters is whether you enjoy the music.

  • @hermionexxx Well, the arena shows, the outfits, the bland music. Well, the sweaty club thing, aswell as The Foxboro Hot Tubs, again, just seems like they wanna legitimize themselves to the underground. Not impressed.

  • @GrungeRockabilly How can they win then? All you've gotta do is look at their faces on stage to see it's not just some cynical move to legitmize themselves lol. How many bands these days put on 3 hour shows night after night, constantly switching things up and interacting with the crowd, inviting fans on stage to sing or play guitar, all kinds of fun stuff during and in between the songs? So many bands play for 90 minutes phoning it in for outrageous ticket prices. Not impressed, your loss :P

  • @hermionexxx Yes, but then you look at the arena rock shows, the pop tunes and the the dressed up, generic 1977 John Lydon/Joe Strummer look, except they took those clothes and did something with it themselves. Well, whoring yourself out to the crowd sells records. Am I slamming him for including the fans in his live shows (the kissing the fans children thing was a joke). But I don´t go and see those bands, i´m not interested in arena rock. Nah, i´ll be over here with my experimental music.

  • @hermionexxx But my question to you is; why do you bother? I´m just some pretentious twat, and my minds already set. I´m not gonna view Green Day differently no matter what you, or anybody else thinks. To me, they are fake and that will probably never change.

  • @GrungeRockabilly Just interesting hearing your view on them really. Each to their own but I reckon as far as their live shows go the most important thing about them is and always has been having fun. Silly and often tongue in cheek fun with no concern for whether it comes off as a bit cliche at times :D. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea though, so all the more room for me on the barrier haha.

  • @hermionexxx Positive way to look at it, I suppse :D

  • @GrungeRockabilly I can totally understand you liking their old stuff and not their new stuff btw, that's just personal taste. Just don't get why you're so suspicious of their motives. They could sit back and retire, or just rehash their old albums, or go round playing half arsed greatest hits tours. Instead their music continues to change and grow and they continue to put on the best lives shows around for reasonable prices. Just don't see any reason to doubt their motives.

  • @hermionexxx It has changed and grown into shite. I appreciate and love when bands grow, but if I don´t like it, then I don´t like it. If they would have moved in a more experimental route, I would be happy. But they play bland pop tunes, that are rehashing Mick Jones´ great guitar work, (not as good imo) and blending it with the stage theatrics of The Clash, The Who and The Ramones. Just because they´re not rehashing their stuff, doesn´t mean they´re not rehashing.

  • @hermionexxx

Shut your yap, you tabloid reading geek!

  • @flagwaver1969 Tabloid reading?! Hahaha dunno where you got that from. I recommend you go to a Green Day show and have a fun time!

  • meh I wish he took this speech more seriously and couldve memorized some parts with it instead of directly reading off it. I wish his jokes didn't suck at least. I actually like older green day stuff and I dont have anything against him that's personal, but lets be honest. The speech itself suck and he could've given it better at least.

  • Awwww!! Poor Billie Joe! So nervous... But so freaking adorable... <3

  • Comment removed

  • Ahwww, Billie was so nervous!!!

  • Where is this earlier live footage of the Iggy & The Stooges they were showing before Billy Joe started his speech?

I was seeing stuff that sure does not seem to be available here on YouTube that would be classic to see!!!

  • OMG :O that was a lot of bands!

  • Iggy Pop is to Punk what Deep Purple is to Metal. Not really punk, but without the Stooges, MC5 or the New York Dolls the Punks wouldnt had nothing to lisent, Malcom Mclaren and Jhonny Lyndon were trying to recreate a more raw sound that Malcom listened back in NY in a New york dolls show. And while Punk is in escence a British movement the music come from NY in the States.

Green Day have one great Album, "DOOKIE". If you want to judge Billi Joe then lisent to Dookie, I love that album.

  • It was about fucking time this happened.

  • Hey Billie boy, go give yourself a blowjob!! Fucking cunt!

  • if Billie Joe is going lazy to write his own lyrics, why shouldn't he be lazy to write a speech for other people?? i liked the original green day (even if the 3 of them are the same, they are different, sold out if you want to..)(even if they were pop, they had great melodies, nowadays they suck a lot trying to save america being a total american idiot themselves.

  • as a greenday fan until 1997, i just can't stop thinking: why he decided to be such idiot (american or universal idiot), as a friend would tell, come on man, you can do it better, through this american idiot shit and 21st century breakdown to the toilet, and make songs like mechanical man, or whatever you want to......but don't keep going this way because you are dirtying the good things you did in the past, even if you think you're protecting them. THE NETWORK was good.

  • @farelowsky33 Idiot was not for anybody born before 1991. To hear that album, at a time where everybody was threatening me with AMERICA!!!!!!! To hear the sense of hopelessness in that album, Fuck you. I'll take that album as something that meens very much to me, and I'm not the only one. I'll fucking fight you.

  • @halifuckinfan mmm,1991, what i was doing then?¿? having your age probably, don't fight with me,you don't need to,i understand your anger,you'll find your answers i hope.Just watch the early greenday,well,their 5 first albums,that is a completely different story.Take care!!

  • Prettiest smile is your Billie! :P

  • THE ROCK N ROLL HALL OF SHAME THAT CAN NOT PUT THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD THAT HAS DONE IT ALL AND STILL AT IT TODAY RUSH WAKE THE FUCK UP YOU PEOPLE

  • The stooges were the creators of fuzzed out wah wah psychedelic mind fuck rock!! They influenced evrything that came after them. So they get introduced into the Rock hall of fame by the green day fag - WTF - thats an insult.

  • Hey, does anyone know what show it was at 2:40? Please! It looks so great!

  • Too bad Ron Ashton passed away before they got inducted. Bummer. The Stooges should have been inducted long ago (then Ron could have been there).

  • Speech of clown. Billie, this is Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame, not your home.

  • What does he say at 7:35 ?

  • @babydollX3666 "and my fucking band too!" :)

  • billy joe seems to have a great music taste, green day covers the replacements and cheap trick, you would think his band would be that good, they certainly have a sound of there own but man, it sucks.

  • Comment removed

  • green day? sucks It will be better james hetfield . green day is a popy band of fags

  • @ale999999 jealous much?

  • @ale999999 hetfielt is an idiot. do you know what he said about his music being used for torture in guantanamo? he said: we've tortured our parents wives and people we love with our music. why should it be different with the iracs. a part of me even feels proud -hey they've picked metallica.

he is the fag. it's sad but true. billie joe is not. you may like or not like his music but he's intelligent and politically right-minded. he deserves to do this speech. hetfield doesn't deserve anything.

  • @XwaspenterprisesX don't give a fuck green day sucks metallica rulles! say no more...

  • @ale999999

ummm no u dont what music is Green Day are fucking life they are fucking way better then that heavy rock metallica shit!

  • Comment removed

  • they shoulda got henry rollins to do thuis shit fuck green day

  • R&R Hall of Fame is so UN-rock'n'roll

  • Great stuff. Does anyone kow where I can find a torrent of this? I can only find the anniversery concert

  • Go green day!!!!!

  • at 2:09 you can clearly see a Nazi dragging Iggy to a concentration camp or something.

  • What a fuckin travesty, OF ALL THE FUCKIN PEOPLE, they chose that Green Day shit

  • @KurtCobainof21

travesty ?? haha get a life

  • @greenfelds Yeah, since when has using good English become a life lacking quality? Maybe if you Green Day Fad fans ever bothered reading you'd fuckin know

  • @KurtCobainof21 you called travesty, i guess you're making fun of his bisexuality, well punk rock always been a movement anti-racist antihomophobic movement..

it's very funny how people that call themselves punks dicriminate billie joe because of his sexuality

  • @greenfelds WHAT??!?!?! What are you fuckin on about?

You really don't know much English do you? Travesty means a false representation of something. Green Day call themselves but they are the absolute opposite of punk. Their music sucks, they're puppets in the hand of capitalistic labels. Their music is hardly original or challenging. NOT PUNK.

I couldn't care less whether he was bisexual or gay or straight. I've been a fan of REM, Judas Priest, Queen, David Bowie for years.

    Stop assuming

  • @KurtCobainof21 Idiot LOL

  • @rozao977 Another stupid teenager who's never heard of The Stooges before in his life and whose whole life revolves around sending silly text messages to his other stupid teenager friends.

Pretty accurate right? I knew so

  • @greenfelds I personally have nothing against Billie Joe's bisexuality, and espescially in such a masculine enviroment that he came up from, I respect him a whole lot for that. I do not respect him for dumbing down his music, becoming a corporate rock whore, and trying to fit the norms of punk rock, when the beauty of Green Day was that they didn't.

  • This is awesome!

  • sex pistols sucks !!!! Go iGGY

  • green day sucks. the stooges fucking rule. the end

  • @indorvoyciz Yeah. Why couldn't they get someone cool like Jello Biafra, or the dude from Black Flag?

  • he can't read, he's a total moron.

  • @mellobbello Just so I know, who are you to say that ? Would you know him personally ? Let's go, tell us about your private experience of Billie Joe Armstrong.

  • that fag forgot the rutts. whos idea was it for billy joe faggot induct the best band.

  • IGGY IS MY GOD

  • 5:11. Peanut butter?

  • Thanks for posting this. The Stooges should have been inducted in the R&R Hall Of Fame right after Elvis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Bo Diddley & the others '50s rockers, & The Beatles, The Stones, Dylan, The Yardbirds, The Who, Hendrix, The Velvets, The Doors, Bowie and a few others. It's a disgrace it took so long. BJ Armstrong's speech is pretty lame. Somebody should post an edited version of this with the Stooges footage at the beginning of this vid & the rest, which I'll watch in a second

  • what billie sais at 7:34

  • @bryangeova i think he says "and my fucking band too" =)

  • Stooges-repulsed mostly! No talent bum!

  • Billie Joe Armstrong is a pussy

  • Billie Joe <3 5:11 - and Peanut Butter :) <3 HAHAHA

  • i'm glad they got inducted. Now when will the New York Dolls get the nomination.

  • Did you see Iggy spit on the floor after Billie Joe said he had a nice smile? HA HA HA.

  • that whole at war with audience my body is the battlefeild is a direct GG ALLIN quote

  • @UZIsuicide9111 yep. I recognized that from "Hated"

  • Iggie is nothing but a junkie NIGGER!!!!

  • !!Billie Joe!! *-* i love him!

  • Ron should have been there for the induction...and also to show Springsteen how to really play a fukin Guitar!!!

  • The greatest Rock´n Roll band ever, ever, ever...!!!

  • cool he mentioned bikini kill

  • I love the stooges, they are genius's when it comes to riff rock. Billie Joe is not my favorite Henry Rollins or H.R would have been way cooler. Whatever.

  • I love this! I keep watching it over and over! I love it when Billie Joe says "Ann Arbor" because i live RIGHT NEXT to ann arbor and i'm more than obsessed with Green Day. Awesome :)

  • Thanks for posting, to bad Alice Cooper didn't induct The Stooges, I don't care for a third generation punk like Billy Joe Armstrong, ask Johnny Rotten what he thinks about him!

  • @rollingold1

Jonny Rotten was only the heavy one, to him the brain was raised to the reputation to And the sexual pistols have only the detail that each one hates: Jonny Rotten Billie joe is not weighed like, he was a boy of California, who was admiring Jonny, without importing what was happening and the sexual pistols, and that saw his dream a reality

  • Ha, I love how they deem the middle finger offensive but don't have a problem with the swastika.

  • For anyone who doesn't like Iggy, just listen to him talk, he is really intelligent and really funny. You may not like his music, BUT HE's REALLY IMPORTANT to rock and roll, and I was honoured to be in his home town last summer.

  • Awesome, thanks for putting this up. There are a lot of bands that should be in, The Stooges should of been inducted years ago!

  • Hell yeah I agree with you,I'm glad The stooges,Hollies,Genesis all made it,but your damn right,They have taken so much abuse from Alice Cooper and Kiss, like I said,I agree with you,put them in.

  • IT SUCH FUCKING BULLSHIT THAT ABBA!! OF ALL GROUPS ARE IN THE ROCK N ROLL HALL SHAME(*AHEM*)I MEAN FAME,BUT NOT KISS OR ALICE COOPER??WTF!!??Even METALLICA and AC/DC ARE IN BUT NOT KISS OR ALICE COOPER!!??FUCK YOU HALL OF FAME BOARD OF DIRECTORS!!FUCK YOU!!WE WANT THE BEST ,WE WILL HAVE THE BEST IN THE R'N'R HALL OF FAME!!WE WANT KISS AND ALICE COOPER!!Reply if you agree with me!!

  • @marsan079 Kiss suck. Alice is going in this year. That is all

  • @marsan079 Kiss suck. Alice is going in this year. That is all

  • next: deep purple, motorhead, jethro tull

  • 1:01 -- Whoa! What a bill!!

  • awesome,always been my fav band !!!!!!!

  • Billie Joe: "And it's about f*in time... THE STOOGES!"

  • Thanks for posting this! It's awesome that Billie Joe got to induct them, I love him, Green Day, Iggy & The Stooges. Fantastic speech!

  • @VFDbranch13

    I totally agree

and Billies speech was so heartfelt and adorable XD

    GO GREEN DAY XD.

  • @maiaxoxoxo You're so right! yes, GO GREEN DAY!

  • Sweet, next up Alice Cooper!

  • Thanks so much for posting this! ♥

  • Iggy Pop: I think I helped wipe out the sixties.

    Look for Bowie's reaction, classic!

  • Love it!

  • Thank you for posting the entire thing, I've been waiting with bated breath to see it all...and am still waiting for part 2 to clear through processing as I type this, but at least I know it's-a-comin'...

  • No problem, man! After all, this is an event in rock history. I live in Europe and was pretty pissed off for not being able to watch it live. I think there might be something wrong with Part 2, but I'm not sure. If it's still processing by tomorrow, I'll re-upload it. Everything for my fellow Stooges fans!

  • @Halkbi Thanks for posting this. Like you also in Europe so could not see it live. If you still have a 'live' link to the original file, please let me know so can view it in its full glory!

  • @TheDpower7 Here's the link. Don't know what you mean by live, but here's where I originally got it from: w w w . megaupload . com / ?d=ID6PT989 (just remove the spaces and you should be fine. It's hosted by iggypop . org, all the creds to them! It also contains the Genesis induction.

  • @Halkbi Thanks. Got it! I had problems with the megaupload link referenced in your original post. Now on the hunt for vid file of Ig w/Soul Asylum at Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame show 1995 :-)
