  • November 3~5, 2007, at the sacred Vajra Seat in BodhGaya, Dungse Garab Rinpoche and an estimated 8,000 disciples from Bhutan as well as Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, the US, Estonia & elsewhere, practiced Krodikali Chod of the Dudjom New Treasure.

THIS YEAR, 2008, November 19~22, Rinpoche is again leading his disciples in the Grand CHOD Ceremony of 100,000 times recitation of KRODIKALI Feast Offering. To join or support us, check out BODHGAYAKRODIKALI site (ORG).

    See you in November!

  • Sources describe this practice as if the adept is offering the flesh of his body to be cut to pieces and devoured by the gods, demons and wild spirits. The ritual reminds the initiation of a shaman though the attributed meaning is different as stated above This particular type of meditation is believed to be extremely mentaly challenging and can be dangerous if not handled appropriately

The founder of the practice of Chöd was in the XII Century by Machig Labdrön, the consort of Padampa Sangye.

  • did somebody say choad!

  • whats that

  • It is a practice for removing obscurations from your mind, such as fear, jealousy, anger and ignorance. It uses elements present in the mind to 'scare' them away.

  • Not "sacre them away". When one can see fear, and the like for what it is there will then be no need banish it, or be protected from it. Thus is profound Dharma of Machig Labdron.

Please do not harm spirits, do not punish demons. They too are looking for happiness. Thus is the profound Dharma of compassion.

  • Thanks for the reply, I agree with what you are saying, perhaps my message was not clear enough, I did not mean scare them away like that.

  • Unfortunately, the only time a demon finds happiness is in YOUR DESTRUCTION. Life is about BALANCE. Too much aggression leads to cruelty. Too much COMPASSION leads to weakness and ultimately defeat. When battling that which seek our destruction, you must use good sense. You must know you too are a creature deserving of happiness and peace. And you TOO deserve protection. Just a word of warning about unbalanced compassion.

  • Please read up about the the profound Dharma of Maching Labdron BEFORE you give "warnings". This Dharma is about absolute vulnerability. May you be happy, May all beings including demons find happiness. There is NO SUCH THING as " too much compassion" in a world like ours. Thank you and have a nice day.

  • Dears, I hope it's appropriate here to quote the great Patrul Rinpoche, who in turn paraphrases the venerable Machig Labdron on Cho in his "Words of My Perfect Teacher":

Direct all your practice inwards and mobilize all your strength, skill and powers against the belief in a self that dwells within you. To say, "Eat me! Take me away!" once is 100 times better than crying, "Protect me! Save me!" To offer yourself as food to 100 spirits is better than calling on 100 protection deities for help.

  • this is really TOUCHING! thank you!
