It's made to sound good, but it's dangerous and horrible. Two days in and I started getting beatings by staff daily. Sexual abuse too. And kids, teens were put in charge of the rooms. I just read a book about Casa By The Sea and other WWASPS facilities. It's called Help At Any Cost, by Maia Szalavitz. It describes the abuses at these programs. You should check it out.
I went to Carolina Springs Academy the first month it opened and witnessed the DSS almost closing it down and YES, the staff was very untrained and abusive. I was stuck in a bubble and could not tell anyone the truth. How in America is it OK to handcuff kids to a bed on the floor as punishment for virtually nothing? I did go to college. I have a degree in Psychology from Northeastern, post graduate work in Neurology, 1 yr training at Forest Institute of Professional Psychiatry, and 30 years experience running group homes for kids who really had bad families and wanted to a normal life,but because they had a trouble past no one would take them, but we did and gave them a good life. I worked for Bob Litchfield for a long time and he is in now way abusive. Kids that may have been restrained it is usually because they have been physically aggressive. Staff are trained in non abusive physical intervention. I saw boys come in and leave men and were not abused. I had a boy travel 500 miles with his family to thank me for helping him turn his life around. Bob would never refuse food, medicine etc.Kids complain because when it does not go their way.
i went to csa and dundee ranch and I was severely injured by a staff member. Mr. Litchfield doesn't hurt children, but he hires people with questionable morals and very little training. A few of the staff at csa were family members of the director and 1 was caught giving cocaine to students. He was fired and then rehired 3 months later. Being complicit is worse than restraining kids, because you know and do nothing. I was a level 6 and spent a little over 2 years there. Do some research.
The staff were abusive. The seminars were so brainwashing they got parents to disown their children. Fuck wwasp. Fuck Lichfield fuck Goulding, fuck those corporate greedy mormons. To prove I was a student, "My experience of wwasp" is it made me need a year of therapy. There seminars don't know jack shit. They take a couple phrases from a psychology book and applied it to the seminars.

my mom sent me to the wwasp facility, the program thought i was refusingto work the program (basically breaking little rules like talking without permission or forgetting things) so the wwasp program sent me to high impact. i was there for 2months until i came back to the main facility.
I also went to a WWASP facility. Unfortunately the parents have no clue what their child is in for when they're being sent to a place like that. They are basically given very vauge descriptions and make it seem like the place with futher benefit the child.
Well the problem stems from the fact that when your kid is in some kind of out of control crisis, these places tend to be the parents last and/or only hope. Unless someone came along and built a facility with good intentions to help kids and QUALIFIED people helping them...Parents are still going to be feeding this asshole money
Money would probably be the easiest answer. When you think about the people who run the facilities/watch over the kids, most of the have nothing more than a HS Diploma or GED at that. If they run that place with lets say people with BAs in psych or social work or even MSW degrees, they'd be paying tenfold and would have to increase costs, which would of course make parents run to a cheaper option, a WWASP facility. And by cheap, I mean $4000 a month. I wish I wasn't even kidding!
Also I think it would be counter-productive to make a similiar type program with "better" people. It makes very little sense to put a child in a bubble and then release then back. Maybe for a 3 month time frame, but any longer and you are teaching that child that the way to cope is to hide or put yourself in a bubble.
Instead of teaching real time mechanisms that they would learn from adversity. Seminars only work when that individual is looking for change. WWasp forces to change" fake it till you make it" which is why most people I have met or talked to have a much harder time with socializing,coping,anger,substance abuse,ect...

In case people can't figure it out, there's a reason there are programs outside of the US, and it's to avoid strict US child labor lawsBut these programs are so bad that one month after I left the costa rican facility it was shut down by their federal authorities, and two facilities while I was still in were shut down by the Mexican authorities for child abuse.

Wow, I mean its one thing to defend the concept of treatment and rehabilitation but here is a guy that owns SEVERAL programs that were shut down not just one, for multiple allegations of child abuse, one of which has changed its names multiple times. So we're just to believe that all those law suits are misguided, and that it's ethical to have kids lie on a floor face down for days at a time? Yeah that'll solve some issues. I went to Carolina Springs Academy the first month it opened and witnessed the DSS almost closing it down and YES, the staff was very untrained and abusive. I was stuck in a bubble and could not tell anyone the truth. How in America is it OK to handcuff kids to a bed on the floor as punishment for virtually nothing? If that is not bad enough.....covered in urine handcuffed to the bed b/c they would not allow you to use the bathroom. STAY ALWAY!!!!

Futhermore you are completely wrong about the staff "restraining" kids. I was repeatedly violently restrained for hours for the "crime" of moving my finger. I never once saw any kids being "physically aggressive" No one deserves abuse!

I did go to college. I have a degree in Psychology from Northeastern, post graduate work in Neurology, 1 yr training at Forest Institute of Professional Psychiatry, and 30 years experience running group homes for kids who really had bad families and wanted to a normal life,but because they had a trouble past no one would take them, but we did and gave them a good life. I worked for Bob Litchfield for a long time and he is in now way abusive. Kids that may have been restrained it is usually because they have been physically aggressive. Staff are trained in non abusive physical intervention. I saw boys come in and leave men and were not abused. I had a boy travel 500 miles with his family to thank me for helping him turn his life around. Bob would never refuse food, medicine etc.Kids complain because when it does not go their way.

i went to csa and dundee ranch and I was severely injured by a staff member. Mr. Litchfield doesn't hurt children, but he hires people with questionable morals and very little training. A few of the staff at csa were family members of the director and 1 was caught giving cocaine to students. He was fired and then rehired 3 months later. Being complicit is worse than restraining kids, because you know and do nothing. I was a level 6 and spent a little over 2 years there. Do some research.

my mom sent me to the wwasp facility, the program thought i was refusingto work the program (basically breaking little rules like talking without permission or forgetting things) so the wwasp program sent me to high impact. i was there for 2months until i came back to the main facility.

Money would probably be the easiest answer. When you think about the people who run the facilities/watch over the kids, most of the have nothing more than a HS Diploma or GED at that. If they run that place with lets say people with BAs in psych or social work or even MSW degrees, they'd be paying tenfold and would have to increase costs, which would of course make parents run to a cheaper option, a WWASP facility. And by cheap, I mean $4000 a month. I wish I wasn't even kidding!

Also I think it would be counter-productive to make a similiar type program with "better" people. It makes very little sense to put a child in a bubble and then release then back. Maybe for a 3 month time frame, but any longer and you are teaching that child that the way to cope is to hide or put yourself in a bubble.

I was first in South Carolina at Carolina Springs Academy, then I went to Costa Rica. I was at the schools a total of 2 years. I was put there for drug use. As far as Mitt Romney goes, I really don't know. He was at my graduation, so I know he had something to do with the school, but I'm really not sure what. And the video says both Narvin and Robert Litchfield, they are brothers and both owners of the wwasp programs.

I have personally witnessed the good that Bob Litchfield's programs have done in the lives of formally messed up kids.
Bob is a good man. He is a great dad, husband, brother, & friend.
He does much good. The media & public should take a long hard look at the sources of these allegations.
Think of how many kids turn in their parents for child abuse & put them under such stress only to have the State find out later the kid was angry about having to do a chore or homework or put on restriction.

The new building looks like a cage and the housing unit next to the old Calico Antiques buildings was a building I use to rent. Robert has donated money to many projects, but he is still dirty. I spent 20 months in WWASP programs. I spent the first 14 months in Carolina Springs, south carolina, and the last 6 as in costa rica. In case people can't figure it out, there's a reason there are programs outside of the US, and it's to avoid strict US child labor lawsBut these programs are so bad that one month after I left the costa rican facility it was shut down by their federal authorities, and two facilities while I was still in were shut down by the Mexican authorities for child abuse.

Very ellaborate and lucrative buisness.Rules are similar to prison, speaking is prohibited , almost everything expect for being quiet and doing school are not allowed.All contact with outside is not allowed except for letters to parents. Cramped filthy conditions, so called "slammings" and beatings. Murders have better conditions. There is a kid on death row in texas who said casa is worse then death row.

As far as the overseas/foreign closures being "untrue"- there are testimonies from foreign officials as to why they intervened with these facilities. I urge you to do the research! Look into letters written by Congressman George Miller regarding WWASP! BTW I know a parent that had to write a "complimentary review" about WWASP- just to get her terrified teen out- and she did so because she was THAT afraid of the place- ie Cross Creek - WWASP/Lichfield home turf.

WWASP rating is NOT a clinical study of kids they treat, the issues, addictions and mental illnesses they have, and how successful they are in life afterward -longterm or shorterm. 1/2 the kids in WWASP leave prior to graduation- is that a 97% success rate? WWASP approval rating is based on PARENTS opinion of the program- parents that are kept in the dark with little or NO contact with thier kids and who are paid commissions or a months tuition for referrals to others.
