I have been keeping ants for over 2 years. Myrmecologists have found that these types of ant nests are very dangerous for ants to be kept in because of 1. The gel farms mold 2. The gel doesn't contain the nutrients the ants need, and they will die of poor nutrition 3. The gel doesn't give them a dry area for their young and this will cause the death of the colony. Please do not use these. A good alternative is to clean the gel out and fill it with sand.

@thekoopa36 Since she caught the ant two weeks ago the queen ant probably already had bred with a male, not all ants are females though that are born but the majority of ants are females only certain ones become queen ants (im not sure exactly how that works im not too knowledgable on their stuff)

Hey friend, do the ants a favor and get a proper formicarium. There are tonnes of info on how to make one yourself, of course you could purchase one that's ready made. These gel farms are unnatural and don't last long. Also, I don't think you should further stress the new queen out by blowing into her nest. Hope you have success with your colony!
