If Gary's LDL is 130 and his Total Chol is 220, using the standard formula his Triglycerides are approximately 450 which is quite high (should be below 150). If he did a VAP profile and measured his LDL size he would most certainly be pattern A, where small Dense LDL predominates with this level of TG (bad ). If he takes the VAP and finds out this is correct, I wonder if this would change his dietary outlook, since he seems to believe in information about the pattern of LDL being important.

I reckon if you can get this basic fact wrong, your estimations of Trigs is likely bogus, and perhaps you are someone that needs to cling to the conventional wisdom. I watched an interview some years ago where the same thing happened to Dr. Atkins. He was talked over, laughed at, mocked and treated very poorly. The same sort of misleading editing was used to cast him as some sort of money grubbing quack. The science behind his plan was never discussed, despite the fact that he did try. It was all so very discouraging and i was totally irate by the time the piece was over. I experienced the same anger and frustration when I watched Oz interview Gary.

I honestly lost all respect for Oz when he advocated the flu shot for his listeners and their children and made it sound like the right and safe thing to do and then didn't give the shot to his own children. So now I cant trust Oz to tell me the truth. And now after seeing all the real science from people who aren't afraid of losing a sponsor I can see Oz trying to deny that 900 pound gorilla in the room again.
