Filipinos are mix of different races and ethnic background. you have to understand our history to be able to understand. @bayyagg In our history negritos are the 1st inhabitants and they mix with malay/austronesian people that came out Filipino. Chinese people just came in during the pre-hispanic because of trade. They intermarried with our native Filipino that's why we have Mestizo de Sangley because of this. Japanese only came in during the WWII but didn't do much for Filipino population. Never heard about the Mongols to mix the majority population in Luzon.

There's no such thing as a Filipino race, it's a nationality. When we talk about race, the word Filipino encompasses Malay, Filipino-Chinese and Mestizo Filipinos. And lahing kayumanggi is actually quite racist.
But if you talk about culture, we are not Latino but very Hispano. Hispano-Asian to be exact. Latino culture is a mix of Spanish and Native American cultures. Ours is a distinct mix of Malay, Chinese, Hispanic and even more recently North American/Anglo culture (NBA anyone?).

It's actually a misnomer...We are not Latinos..Although we have retained some Spanish words in our Dialects, and we have for the most part retained the religion, Filipinos are no more Latinos than people from Guam who were also conquered by Spain. WE did not retain the language as most Latin American countries did. Many of us have Spanish last names not because we inherited them but we were assigned them. Not all Filipinos have Spanish names,many have Indigenous Filipino names.

@bayyagg I already knew about Austronesian. Most of our indigenous Filipinos are Austronesians. The culture of Austronesian people are totally different with the Mongolians, Chinese and Japanese to compared as well as the majority look of the Filipinos. Maybe you can compare our Filipino-Chinese people ethnically and culture wise but not the entire inhabitants of Filipino in Luzon. Ivatans are much closer with Taiwan Aboriginals (take note they are not Han Chinese people).

DNA testing of different tribes in Asia have been conducted, proven that most Luzon tribe( except these Aborigines, Aeta ) have the similar DNA signature.
Aeta can't be considered as "the first people in Luzon", unless they dominate the whole archipelago.

@bayyagg Negritos are the 1st inhabitants of South East Asia lol. They are even the 1st inhabitants of Taiwan. Aeta is not just the negritos that you can find in the Philippines. We also have Agta, Tumandok, Dumagat of Sierra Madre, Just check the Manobo tribe, A lot of Filipinos are mixed with Austroloid race specially our Indigenous ethnic tribe.

@bayyagg In our history negritos are the 1st inhabitants and they mix with malay/austronesian people that came out Filipino. Chinese people just came in during the pre-hispanic because of trade. They intermarried with our native Filipino that's why we have Mestizo de Sangley because of this. Japanese only came in during the WWII but didn't do much for Filipino population. Never heard about the Mongols to mix the majority population in Luzon.

In the Philippines, they follow the patrilineality & they implemented some rules which is totally different from Latin America.
