Cool! I live close to Eagles Nest and am a desktop pilot. Have landed a Mooney there many times with MicroSoft Flight Simulator (2002 thru X). Just stumbled upon your video by luck.
no i didnt need to do a flyover to check the winds...there was a banner towing operation going on that day so i followed the runway they were using to keep the flow of traffic moving..also once u get on downwind you can clearly see the windsock .there is one at each end of the runway...happy flying
Nice .. I've been to this airport several times.. you probably knew that 14 was the runway in use without a flyover of the windsock. I few in once and used the winds at Miller Airpark to land at 31E without looking at the sock. The problem is 32 would have been a much better choice! Winds were very different only a few miles away.
Sweet video! I am going to make a quick stop at Eagles Nest this weekend, weather permitting. My main objective is to do a fly by of LBI, but I need to land somewhere so I can log the XC time.
yea its usually pretty deserted...cool airport to come to just to hang out. Alot of r/c flying activity here tho....the day I landed in the video was the busiest I have ever seen that airport, they had another plane in the pattern and they were doing a banner towing operation there that day.. You can see to the left in the video right when i flare, there is a white dot (a person in white shirt) and the banner laying on the ground..
