My 40GB Ps3 draws in discs but makes a grinding noise and won't read them any suggestions on how to fix this? Cechh01 i just replaced the laser then all hell broke loose.
@MBisFrenchy Make sure everything inside the disc drive is put back properly and not loose. Also make sure you put in the correct kind and amount of screws on the disc drive itself.

@tromos200 I had that problem Ones, i was using a different Hardrive that was messed up. it had some bad sectors, when i tried to install a game ones it got to the bad sectors inside the HD it would freeze. i fixed it by replacing the HD..
@tromos200 im pretty sure its the harddrive, you can also delete an older save in ur HD to make room for ur new install, but ur ps3 wont write beyond the bad parts/sectors in the HD.

@VTShootOut I have the same problem. Started today. I'm no expert but from what i know its the Blu Ray Lense/Laser that doesnt read the disc so it doesnt spin it. Try replacing it. Thats best you can do if you donot have warranty.
So it worked, but my disc (s) will only go in partially. I think it is the front two rubber wheels where the disc fits into, like the gears still don't move argg

ok so all of that helped me out alot i was messing with this thing for 2 days then found this video, solved my jamming problem but now it still wont read the cd or game and wont eject it, just sucks it up and spins the disc then leaves it in there. @vexxfalcon he didnt send me a message but i fixed my ps3 myself all you have to do is open the blu ray drive and unjam the two black rods on the sides and also clean your lens with a cuetip hope this helps:)

I just gotten done re-flowing my ps3 because of the yellow light of death followed gilksy how to re-flow it and it works like a charm. But when it YLOD on me a game was in it and the drive would not respond. I ended up taking the disc out manually and found couldn't put anything in. But with your video I was able to fix that issue as well. Thank you so much.

My ps3 won't eject cod and it doesn't show that there's even a game in the computer. It just does the beep like when nothings in there. Tried holding down the eject and press it about a million times, still nothing so I decided to open it up like a can of beans to get the game out. hey I just got a new blu ray and cd drive fitted and the games don't show up It takes them in and ejects them. it just doesn't show up on the home screen what should I do?

maybe you can help me with this problem im having with my blue ray drive PaCPoD69. I have taken my 40 gig backwards compatible blu ray drive apart in a attempt to clean it. finished the cleaning process and re assembled my ps3 now for some reason, the blu ray drive will not take in any cd roms at all. oh and a aluminum colored strip underneath the blu ray drive did disconnect but i reconnected it and plugged in the plug as well. any ideas on how to repair it? or will i have to get a new one???
If you press the eject button and you hear the drive trying to eject, Its not the ribbon cable. theres also a sensor that senses the cd and thats how the cd gets pulled, make sure thats plug in and last gears jammed..
thanks for such a quick response. I have made sure that all plugs are in and still whenever I try to input the disc in the blu ray drive it will not go in unless i "force" it and even then wont read it. im wondering if im having a motor problem or something along those lines.
i pointed out the sensor in the first few seconds of the video. if you pulled the wires too hard the sensor wont work. you dont need to unplug the the sensor to take apart the drive, just flip it over like i did.

games/movies not loading or freezing is a sing of a faulty laser. b4 u buy a new one, replace ur drive/laser with one of ur friends to see if its the laser. also careful with handling lasers there very sensitive to electro static discharge.
What if you had a small dent on top of it cause I have it. Will it still work? I was mad when I got the yellow light and hit it so hard it had a small dent on top of it.
Alright so my PS3 was not taking discs before, there was no pull, so I did your fix. Now the discs will go into the ps3 just fine, but they don't load at all. Not DVD, not Blu Ray, not PS1/PS3 games, nothing loads. I just hear the disc spin for a few seconds after inserting it, and then I get nothing. Downloaded games/demos will still work fine but only if there's no disc in the tray. Do I just need a new laser or have I messed something up far worse?

the first piece you take, that has two springs that retract when you pull the cd out.. with the drive open put the cd in and see if they retract. if not check the springs on each side.
Has anyone worked on the new disc loaders made after 2008. All the vids I came across only work on 1st and 2nd Gen not 3rd Gen models. All the insides are similar but no disc sensor, etc. Totally different. CECHKxx, CECHLxx Models. Thanks

NO your Laser needs to be replace.. you need to know what model to buy... some lasers come with a deck included.. look at the video again to find your laser's model. 1:03
The One place i would tell you to check is the top cover of the drive, make sure everything moves freely and nothing is jammed or out of place also when putting the drive back together make sure you dont force it close and last thing this video wont fix a broken drive due to broken internal parts.
it looks just like your video nothing seems to be broken and the arms move freely nothing seems to be out of place it went back together fine didnt have to force anything it should work but its not
well when you start having problems with ur drive, as you seen it this vid, the cd was inside and to reset the drive i did what i did. the reason for this vid was for pple having problems after opening the drive to clean the lens.. not all ps3 drives are the same and this method might not help everybody.

I forgot to unload a disc before opening the BluRay Drive. I was replacing the Laser, and forgot there was a disc in the drive.
Several clips showed how to remove a disc but this one showed how to "reset" the loading mechanism.
It took me two attempts and now its working fine.
Without this I'd be in big trouble.

If you have a bad Laser the cd wont spin.. if the cd gets pulled in, the cd sensor works. but not the laser

hey i have a 60 gig i recently fix my ylod but my ps3 cant get wifi or get ps3 control signal only works whens it connected by usb, also when i turn on the power the red light wont show but when i touch the power button it turns on and work perfectly except for the wifi and controller problem and the eject button wont work i would really appreciate it if u could make a video to show how to fix any of this thing and if you cant ill still appreciate a respawn saying u cant thank you in advance....

I just gotten done re-flowing my ps3 because of the yellow light of death followed gilksy how to re-flow it and it works like a charm. But when it YLOD on me a game was in it and the drive would not respond. I ended up taking the disc out manually and found couldn't put anything in. But with your video I was able to fix that issue as well. Thank you so much.

it's nice to see that you responded. i opened the drive up to clean the lens and now it wont take discs even if i force it in. when i start the ps3 a blue light lights up inside the drive and it makes a noise. i raised the tray and put a disc in and it started to spin but it still wont read. and since i cleaned it my hard drive games dont work

@donsargent theres more than one drive for ps3. same principal take something off to remove something, to fix the drive..

My ps3 won't eject cod and it doesn't show that there's even a game in the computer. It just does the beep like when nothings in there. Tried holding down the eject and press it about a million times, still nothing so I decided to open it up like a can of beans to get the game out. The inside of mine is slightly different but I've done what you have done in your video but now back together and on it won't take the disk and the blue light doesn't come on. Do you know what could be my problem?

hey I just got a new blu ray and cd drive fitted and the games don't show up It takes them in and ejects them. it just doesn't show up on the home screen what should I do?

i have a ps3 slim and something fell on top of it and when i power it up the cd drive makes the sound like its trying to pull cd in it then you try to put a game in it wont take it in but if you press the eject swich it will take it in but makes weird noise but plays the game do you no what it could be thanks

i not sure but i think, u should open the drive, and redo the disassembly. put it back together and should work.

same problem as others, disks not reading, not ejecting. my problem as i noticed, the left slider that you popped back into place keeps jamming in my drive, as far as i know, thats why its not ejecting. but as for it not reading or spinning, im lost

i really think this is a laser problem, the ps3 laser uses two "modes" one reads Blurays/games the other reads cd/movies.

maybe you can help me with this problem im having with my blue ray drive PaCPoD69. I have taken my 40 gig backwards compatible blu ray drive apart in a attempt to clean it. finished the cleaning process and re assembled my ps3 now for some reason, the blu ray drive will not take in any cd roms at all. oh and a aluminum colored strip underneath the blu ray drive did disconnect but i reconnected it and plugged in the plug as well. any ideas on how to repair it? or will i have to get a new one???

If you press the eject button and you hear the drive trying to eject, Its not the ribbon cable. theres also a sensor that senses the cd and thats how the cd gets pulled, make sure thats plug in and last gears jammed..

thanks for such a quick response. I have made sure that all plugs are in and still whenever I try to input the disc in the blu ray drive it will not go in unless i "force" it and even then wont read it. im wondering if im having a motor problem or something along those lines.

i pointed out the sensor in the first few seconds of the video. if you pulled the wires too hard the sensor wont work. you dont need to unplug the the sensor to take apart the drive, just flip it over like i did.

games/movies not loading or freezing is a sing of a faulty laser. b4 u buy a new one, replace ur drive/laser with one of ur friends to see if its the laser. also careful with handling lasers there very sensitive to electro static discharge.

What if you had a small dent on top of it cause I have it. Will it still work? I was mad when I got the yellow light and hit it so hard it had a small dent on top of it.

Alright so my PS3 was not taking discs before, there was no pull, so I did your fix. Now the discs will go into the ps3 just fine, but they don't load at all. Not DVD, not Blu Ray, not PS1/PS3 games, nothing loads. I just hear the disc spin for a few seconds after inserting it, and then I get nothing. Downloaded games/demos will still work fine but only if there's no disc in the tray. Do I just need a new laser or have I messed something up far worse?

the first piece you take, that has two springs that retract when you pull the cd out.. with the drive open put the cd in and see if they retract. if not check the springs on each side.

Has anyone worked on the new disc loaders made after 2008. All the vids I came across only work on 1st and 2nd Gen not 3rd Gen models. All the insides are similar but no disc sensor, etc. Totally different. CECHKxx, CECHLxx Models. Thanks

if the gears dont move then the drive is still jammed, check the drive again and dont force anything close this includes top cover of drive too.

NO your Laser needs to be replace.. you need to know what model to buy... some lasers come with a deck included.. look at the video again to find your laser's model. 1:03

I went to clean the blu ray lens
a game was still inside
it fell out
I thought nothing of it and cleaned it then put it back together
disc wouldnt go in

The One place i would tell you to check is the top cover of the drive, make sure everything moves freely and nothing is jammed or out of place also when putting the drive back together make sure you dont force it close and last thing this video wont fix a broken drive due to broken internal parts.

well when you start having problems with ur drive, as you seen it this vid, the cd was inside and to reset the drive i did what i did. the reason for this vid was for pple having problems after opening the drive to clean the lens.. not all ps3 drives are the same and this method might not help everybody.
