  • To the delight of the audience, President Monson and President Eyring sang "Aya En El Rancho Grande" in Spanish.

  • President Thomas S. Monson presided at the event. A capacity crowd of more than 3,500 attended the celebration, which was broadcast to LDS meetinghouses in the temple district and other locations in the United States.

  • In the final moments of the cultural celebration, hundreds of youth — draped in white capes — celebrated the coming of a temple to eastern Arizona.

  • The Angel Moroni statue, common on most LDS temples — including the Gila Valley Temple — completed the scene as it rose above the man-made foundation.

  • @omiolo What happened to TCLDS/71? 132 temples waiting for polygamy and exaltation, one in the Gila desert. It's hot out there. I just bought a 1990 garment box and a wedding dress off of ebay. I think I see a video. someday.

  • @IExposeMormonism TCLDS/71? is that ANTImormon talk for something?

  • @omiolo That was TrueChruchLDS, LDSapolgist71. sheesh. Was the 132nd temple dedicated to D&C 132?

  • @IExposeMormonism A little Tom Foolery from an ANTImormon. I almost thought that it could be considered humorous until I noticed the ANTImormon bitter undertones. Seriously though, don't you want to be happy?

  • Here is something you Uneducated people might not know about the Mormon Church John Browning the man Behind the first semi Auto shot gun and BAR was Mormon he was converted.

John Logie Baird that invented the Tv Was Mormon.

The longest recorded military march in Military history was done by the mormons.

Joseph smith ran for President of the United states.

The LDS church is one of the Fastest growing Religions In the World in 2010

  • If I saw a red rash like that on my body I'd get a doctor. This world needs a doctor. Mormonism is an undertaker.

  • @IExposeMormonism The scene was a fitting end to a production staged to celebrate the dedication of the Gila Valley Temple — the Churchs 132nd temple and the third in Arizona. The youth retold — through song, dance and spoken word — the rich cultural history of eastern Arizona. In the final moments of the show, they themselves became the foundation stones of the temple, standing close together wearing white.

  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Only true Church on the whole Earth. The spirit of God testifies with the words of the missionaries that spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the 4 corners of the earth! They are God's messengers and God's angels.

oh yeah their building a temple in Rome, Italy! Look at how fast God works!

  • TrueChurchLDS I cant decide what describes you correctly. You are retarded or you have benn brainwashed ? Can somebody help ?

  • Not many.anymore.

  • the world ends in 2004?! how come nobody ever told me?!

  • According to the SL City Tribune the LDS has claimed membership of 3.6 million in countries where the censuses ask for religious affiliation to be recorded - guess what the censuses show an overstatement of 366% Which means that the 13 million figure claimed by the LDS is actually 3.7 million of living and active members!

  • Oh yeah, every LDS person knows that we aren't talking 13 million active members. I don't see why that matters...especially since we still have one of highest activity rates of any Christian church. Activity in any church is something we'd encourage.

  • Well no they don't, there are people on Youtube who quote 13 million membership as your Church currently does so just trying to set the record straight as few other people seem to want to do it. Are you aware that inactive members are included on church rolls until their 110th!! birthday. Is this a unique take on statistics or is it dishonesty? (They are massaging the figures)

  • Well, I don't think it's dishonesty at all when you consider how easy it is for someone to remove their records. All they have to do is fill out a form and they are no longer counted as members of the Church or on church rolls. These "less-active" people are the ones who still want to be affiliated with the Church, but don't come every Sunday. I mean, when you consider the numbers that Catholics use, I think ours are way more accurate.

  • How do Catholics compute their numbers?

  • People that are baptized as infants, but that never attend church after that are counted. Many Catholics are really good, devout people. But many have no intention of ever having a role in the church or participating in any way. I say our numbers may be more accurate because Catholics may claim 1.1 billion adherents, but have a small percentage participating. The LDS Church may claim 13 million adherents, but have somewhere in the ballpark of 50% participating.

  • The Catholic Church does not merely add the number of baptised - that is what the LDS do (and delete them when they are 110 years old!). I have taken part in Catholic counts - they are undertaken at Mass at several times in the year and are painstaking - I can confirm this from personal involvement) to obtain accurate figures. One of your own experts (David G Stewart Jr. - google him) estimates the number of practising Mormons at 4 million and says that it cannot be greater than 5 million.

  • I was referring to the numbers that are reported in text books and the media as to the number of Catholics.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to find the number of practicing Latter-day Saints at 4 or 5 million. I don't believe our numbers is ever reported as "13 million practicing members" but rather 13 million total membership. I still don't really understand why it matters either.

  • Well, it doesn't really matter to me but there are people on Youtube saying that there are 13 million members as does the official LDS site (without any qualification whatever) so it matters to them. This is clearly not the 'restoration' that Joseph promised, as the leadership knows so it has to exaggerate. If it were true and had God's support, why is it so very unsuccesful?

  • Using that argument, "if it were true..." then you would have to ask why the apostles weren't more successful and why they were killed after Christ left. If what they said was true, wouldn't they have had God's support? Of course, but only as much as the people are willing to listen. We believe that people will be increasingly more prepared for this message as time goes on and the restoration Joseph spoke of is still taking place. I still don't see this as an exaggeration.

  • But the Apostles were successful as Christ promised. The Christian Church had 'branches everywhere' before St John died, even though the Romans were executing them. Read the early Church Fathers e.g St Polycarp who was ordained by St John himself.

  • I've organized a map of thousands of LDS meetinghouses worldwide, similar to this video, but it's a Google Earth file. So far, the map pinpoints the locations of over 7,000 meetinghouses, almost 14,000 wards and branches.

Posting URL's is not allowed within YouTube comments. However, you should be able to find the map just by typing "LDS Church Meetinghouses" into a search engine -- the map I've created is hosted on Google Pages.
