Don't forget that Ruth spent his first five years as a Hall of Fame caliber pitcher!! Set numerous records on the mound in the World Series before turning the game upside down with his stupendous hitting (higher lifetime batting avg than Ted). Love 'em both but once Ruth started hitting, the game changed forever.
I never liked the way Ted Williams brings his hands in against his belt as he loads his swing. I know that it works for him, but it goes against all hitting wisdom. Plus, it doesn't make for a nice looking swing.
Had Williiams not had, what, five years out of the heart of his career to serve- as a decorated pilot, not some cushy office job- he'd have held every record for hitting.
Funny cuz you don't understand baseball.yes the people you show have great swings but in these at bat the were sloppy. Just watch teddy's front foot he slips and is on his heal with his front foot toe point forward. Griffy greatness is his perfect stride and how he uses his stride as a "cushion" to time his swing. But that swing he does neither because it was a meatball of a pitch.
Ted had a perfect swing and great combo of power hitting and average. One of his greatest assets was his eyesight. He had perfect vision and he attributed that to much of his success as a hitter.
after a slow start to his first minor league season Ted almost left baseball at age 18 to become an engineer. Then he homered twice in the next game and decided to stick around.
@idahojoeman Ruth has a better carer average and ruth would have over 850 homer runs if it wasn't for a stupid rule back then, carrer average of .342, 714 homer runs.2,215 RBI's, almost 3000 hits and 94-47 as a pitcher with a 2.28 ERA and won 3 cy young awards (although it wasn't called the cy young award back then.) Ruth could do it all.
@BABYKICKERxPS3 way to just look up facts and throw them at me haha but im pretty sure ruth couldnt rob a home run or steal a base, or even through someone out at home. so he couldnt do it all......
@BABYKICKERxPS3 You obviously aren't much of a student of the game in terms of science of hitting. No way was Ruth the better hitter. NO way! (And this is coming from a lifelong Yankee fan).
@BABYKICKERxPS3 Williams missed 5 years at his prime serving in two wars!!! Sorry, but Ruth did not. Not taking away from Ruth at all. Just saying what a pity Williams did not have those five years. Still, he was a hero who served his country; and that meant a lot to him.
Griffey Jr is not in the same league with legends like Mantle and Williams.

@idahojoeman Never looked them up. Second yes true but is the perfect baseball fielder video? No, it's about hitting, ruth is a better hitter.
BABYKICKERxPS3 1 year ago
@BABYKICKERxPS3 it doesnt matter how hard you hit it if the outfielder scales the wall and catches it.
idahojoeman 1 year ago
@idahojoeman Yes it does because if you hit it hard enough he won't have that chance.
