  • O'Brien took those so called "ILLEGAL HITS" that Brett Favre took in 2009 NFC Champ game.Peyton Manning and Tom Brady have no mobility, both cry when do get hit, neither would do any better than O'Brien in that era.Phill Simms played behind better line and better team in general.I remember more mobile Hoss brought more to table.Brady and Manning would not do better than Simms in that era.Simms is tougher than both!Brees more mobile than other 2 but that weak arm at meadowlands, I don't see it

  • @DELTAFORCE662 Do you remember the time when Bears QB-Jim McMahon was rolling to his right, and threw a TD pass against the Packers, when as soon as he released it, you could see a Packers DE still running towards him, and hit him late? I counted 4 full seconds after the ball left his hand, that he took that blind side hit! That was a no doubt about it late hit, and roughing the passer call. Now, a defensive player who is already in motion towards the QB gets called even .5 seconds later.

  • @TRChamp08 Sorry I don't recall that moment with QB McMahon. But before late 90's you would see that more.Roger Goodell's version of rule is 1 step.Used to be 3 steps.Often players these days hold up and avoid and don't appear to go full speed especially if they are playing Brees or Brady.I noticed players often just "push" Brady with "open hands".I saw LB Anthony Spencer just "push" Brady and he even got flagged once! This was 2011,Cowboys VS Patriots.

  • Great game! A lot you see in this game is banned today.1990 was real NFL. Brady and Manning would NOT be so great in this era.Neither can take a hit.BRING BACK SMASHMOUTH FOOTBALL!

  • @AFFORD2TRAVEL so it not yall never been upset when yall was the favorite oh and I believe yall was the favorite aginst baltimore in the superbowl and tall got destroyed 34 to 7 the giants was 12n4 beat a good vikings team 41 to 0 in the nfc championship game and yall beat philly who was 11n5 in the playoffs easy and baltimore was a wildcard team and you got crushed like I said its happen to the giants to

  • @AFFORED2TRAVEL it anit like the giants never been upset what about 2008 12n4 top seed in the nfc and defending superbowl champs and you get dominated at home by a 9n6n1 philly eagles team or in 2005 12n4 nfc east champs and you get shutout at home 23 to 0 by carolina panthers or 1997 your division champs and you lose at home to a 9 win vikings team or 1989 the giants are 12n4 division champs that year and you lose at home in playoff to the rams when you was the 2 seed that year

  • @pp3k3jamail Good review of history of when the Giants have been upset. I remember every single one of them. But I think AFFORED2TRAVEL is saying that the Giants also have a history of the reverse. No doubt the Giants have been handed upsets. But it happens even to the best of teams. This year's Packers have to be pretty upset. The 15-1 Vikings of 98 as well after losing to Atlanta. Yankees, Canadiens, and Lakers have been upset too in their history. For now, The Giants are upset kings

  • @TRChamp08 NFL is corrupt! The Greg Williams bounty story, once again NFL is NOT telling us the truth. The refs knew Brett Favre was fair game and refs decided to put a skirt on Drew Brees.NFL wanted Saints to win superbowl cuz of Katrina!NFL will put "skirts" on who they like which means in reality they favor who they want.NFL does not give a shit about the integrity of the once great game!

  • @DELTAFORCE662 You're right that the integrity of the game is being corrupted. I do believe what you say about the NFL putting a skirt on Drew Brees to help the Saints win a Super Bowl because of Katrina. This is where I miss Paul Tagliabue and Pete Rozelle. Those 2 guys did a fantastic job as commissioners. They kept the integrity of the great sport in tact, and made it fair game. Dan Marino passed for 5000+yards in 1984. Suddenly 3 QB's (Almost 4), did it this year. No D, skirts on QBs.

  • @TRChamp08 You are right! Most fans I talk to on youtube about this are complete dope influenced idiots! Still most people are blaming Greg Williams cuz of damn media. Those refs saw that Brett Favre was taking shots that would not be allowed on Brees.

  • @DELTAFORCE662 Definitely. It makes me sick watching QB's like Brees, Brady, and Peyton Manning get BS roughing the passer calls when they get hit. Brady in the playoffs and Super Bowl has gotten his with less calls. I even said to my buddy in Fantasy Football who has P. Manning, that he hasn't even had a scrape on his forearm in 14 years. Brees has been headed for that to. That is until the 49ers got a hold of him. Poor Ken O'Brien who got thrown around like a rag doll his whole career

  • @TRChamp08 O'Brien thats funny how you brought him up.I remember him.NY media blamed everything on him.The O-line was horrible. That was a much different game the real NFL.Brady,Manning,Brees would NOT do any better. None of those guys are any more mobile than O'Brien.Brady would get killed and if NFL went back to that style I bet wimpy Brady would quit right away.Brady not tough enough for that.In those days only a more mobile QB would do any better on a team like that.NFL IS SO WATERED DOWN!

  • Okay I am saying it the New York Giants should be called America's Upset Team or America's Upset Kings whichever you prefer but lately some prefer to us as America's Underdog Team. We did it to the 49ers in the 80s, this game in 1990, the Broncos when they were 13-0 in 1998 the Pats in SB 42, the Patckers this year and the Pats again in SB 46 we are America's Upset Team that said 4x champions

  • @AFFORD2TRAVEL You're perhaps the only person I've heard of who recalls the upset of the Broncos in 1998 who were 13-0 at the time. I remember it vividly when Amani Toomer caught that amazing catch in the endzone with under a minute left. You're right; the Giants are "Upset Kings". They're "Road Warriors" too. That's why there's always a chance no matter how superior their opponent may seem. It also shows that the Giants really are good, but that they always have tough schedules/opponents

  • The giants were tebowing before tebowing was in @:30 seconds wow!! plus the gaterade bath started with the Giants go Big Blue Giants fan4life

  • Yes NFL is very anti defense and its about money now.More passing more gambling.I know NFL is rigged to extent too.NFL is very anti-running game too.Thats why teams can only practice once a week in pads.Too soft NFL is today.

  • @DELTAFORCE662 You're so right that it is about the money now. Dan Marino's record of 5000+yds in 1984 stood for 27 years. Now suddenly this year there were three QB's with 5000+yds, and almost a 4th (Eli Manning). The process starts with "How do we make money?" ANS->"More high scoring games." "How do we have more high scoring games?" ANS->"Passing since scores come quicker than running the ball. And less capabilities by Defenses." In the end, scores like 45-38 boost ratings and money.

  • @DELTAFORCE662 How do the Packers go from 5th ranked Defense in 2010 to dead last in 2011 with virtually the same exact players? Teams have passed more on them, and I think the NFL wants the likes of Detroit (Matthew Stafford) 2X, New Orleans (Drew Brees), San Diego (Philip Rivers), and the Giants (Eli Manning) to throw on them to have shootouts with Aaron Rodgers. The Giants had a 38-35 battle with GB (the Super Bowl Champions at the time), and it helps boost interest and ratings-->Revenue

  • @TRChamp08 Agree.Marino's record was broken cuz NFL is so soft and softer than 2010.New rule is that DB must allow WR a chance to run with ball first I heard this mentioned in Bengals vs Texans playoff game.WRs and QBs wear skirts.Eli Manning's first great stat season cuz of these new rules.WRs open way too easy.Former players like Joe Montana come on ESPN and talk bullshit ,Montana said "Rodgers is playing better than any QB I ever saw" Montana is full of shit he knows better.

  • @DELTAFORCE662 Yeah, you're right; montana should know better. I like the no helmet to helmet rule. Preventing head injuries and concussions is extremely important. But other than that, rules are too much in favor of allowing offenses to pretty much pass at will. Allowing a WR a chance to run after the catch, is bullshit! Defenses need to play their game too. Ronnie Lott may never have been the great that he was if he played with rules of today. They might as well make it flag football

  • @TRChamp08 Difficult to avoid helmet to helmet.Especially vs RBs which refs let go.RB is devalued too.No more power I

  • @DELTAFORCE662 True! The game is played at such high speed that in real game action, helmets are always banging into helmets when RBs run and Defenders try to hit em'. What rules do you think should be changed that can make the game better, and give RB's more of a chance to make offenses more balanced? I agree with you about the WR being given a chance to run after the catch as being BULL. Do you think if the D is allowed to rush QBs more physical that running may increase to offset blitzes?

  • @TRChamp08 As far as helmet shots, I always said thats part of the game and the risk you take when you go out on that field.I don't wish anyone hurt but thats the way the game was meant to be played.Just bring old rules back.Yes if they take skirts off QBs the running game will become factor.Thats why Goodell made these rules cuz he wants a pass happy league. He is anti-D,anti-Running game and anti-special teams. Now kick at 35 and 1 pad practice a week which hurts Run and D.

  • They hold up and avoid to avoid penalty flag and fine.Hell I saw Anthony Spencer Cowboys LB get flagged for just "Pushing" Brady with open hands.Yeah they definitely banned certain hits for certain QBs.The only guys in 2000's that got hit hard are Roethlisberger,Garrard,McNair,Vick,McNabb and few others.I heard Collinsworth say on SHOWTIME say NFL goes by physical level on a QB.I say strange very strange and it shows how sneaky NFL is.I noticed this for years but NFL hardly has talked about this

  • Anybody think Giants would win with Simms? Also who's better people Simms or Hosteler.I say Hosteler. He's more mobile.

  • @DELTAFORCE662 Hostetler was able to avoid heavy pass rushes by the 49ers in this NFC Championship Game and scramble for some yards on a couple of occasions. On that final drive to set up the game winning FG, he scrambled away from pressure twice, and threw on the run to each Bavaro and Baker for critical gains. Simms probably would've been sacked. Hostetler was better for that particular game and Super Bowl XXV too. But when it comes to pure passing the football, Simms was a better QB.

  • @TRChamp08 But they would of lost to 49ers if Simms was starter. Also keep in mind Marino is better pure passer than Elway in a lot of ways much better but Elway is better player cuz he can run and also has much better playoff record.I much rather have Elway in thaty ERA

  • @DELTAFORCE662 Oh, I know. I was agreeing with you. I think Hostetler's mobility enabled the Giants to win that game against the 49ers. It also did against Buffalo in the Super Bowl. In these 2 games I feel lucky that fate turned out as it did because the Giants won the Super Bowl that year. I was just saying that Simms was a better passer even though I don't think the Giants would have won it if he played those 2 games. I agree too that Elway was better than Marino because of your reasons

  • @TRChamp08 I say Brady would be nothing in 1980's. He a weak version of Simms.Brady runs like a girl.Simms runs like a man just not fast.Simms can take a hit.Brady can't.NFL is soft today to protect weak QBs like Brady.Tell me if you agree

  • @DELTAFORCE662 I do agree! And I like your question because I frequently talk of this very subject. Ray Lewis complained last year about Peyton Manning getting roughing the passer calls after being knocked down a few times. Lewis said "You want to be a man and make the big bucks, go ahead and make the big bucks. But don't go crying on Sundays when you get knocked down. That's part of the game". True!! The game has changed to protect QB's too much, and it takes away tough hitting Defense.

  • @DELTAFORCE662 Also, I remember in the 1970's when "Mean" Joe Greene and Jack Lambert used to crush QB's with hard hits. And I remember the late 70's and early 80's when the New York Jets sack exchange had Joe Klecko and Mark Gastineau grabbing the QB's jersey and swinging him around and slamming him to the ground. Lawrence Taylor did similar things and he hit hard. As did Richard Dent. Now if you sneeze on a QB there's a personal foul. The result=Less Defense and More Points Scored.

  • @TRChamp08 Good to see that you see the truth. A lot of kids under 30 on youtube have no idea what they are talking about. They think Brady and Manning are the best thing since slice bread.I mean Brady did not appear to be a "Video game" QB until Goodell became commisioner.Hardly any contact. But even before Goodell, since late 1990's you don't see as many hard hits on most QBs.Notice how players often bearhug wrap Brady instead of shoulder pad hit.Players hold up and avoid hitting QB late now

  • Best NFL game ever? Takers? Definitely one of the best ever, I'd die to see this on NFL Network.

  • Deja vu in 2012!

  • ...Giants win again! 2012

  • To be honest, Pat Summerall doesn't sound any more excited than Joe Buck would..atleast during this moment

  • honestly one of the greatest playoff games ever.

  • This just gets me that much more pissed off for tomorrow's game.

  • what I love is Walls with his arm around Carthon at 4:03- you can imagine what Everson is telling Maurice! LOL they would have been the goats had they lost. Joyful reprieve.

  • I have been watching the NFL since 1982 and that was one of the best NFC championships i have ever seen...

  • miss those single bar kicker helmets!

  • Pat Summerall was happy because he was a Giants kicker himself, you love your heritage

  • LOL @ Parcells jumping! He got about 5 inches of air! What memories!

I'll watch this game on Sunday, to get ready for Sunday's NFC Championship battle 2011!

    GEEEEEEEEEEE-MEN BABY!

  • Bill belichick hugging parcells at 2:05?

  • @qman66 Yes, Bill Belichik was our Defensive coordinator for both our championships in 1986 and 1990

  • I'm a big Patriots fan. This is my favorite game in NFL history.

  • @BUSean got taste, Pats fan! And class.

  • Funny that I watch this as Giants are about to beat SF again in NFC division Championship and go on to win it all this year.

  • Uploaded by dave megget ?, last I knew dave, you were up on new charges for messin with young girls out there in greenfield. what gives?

  • Why all the Joe Buck hate? I don't like him or hate him, I really have no opinion on him. There are other sports announcers who annoy me more.

  • I want to go. Noone willing to go to SF from NY

  • There will be NO three-peat for the Forty-Whiners!!

  • Haha no fuckn 3peat for u bitches haha great game!!!!!!!

  • NFC Title game matchup in 2012.

  • Today's game of football has changed. So many people want "Points" scored. They want to see scores like 45-38. This 1990 NFC Championship Game along with Super Bowl XXV were two of the greatest games that I've ever seen, and back to back. Defense was played well by both teams in each game. That's what championship football is about. How many total Hall of Famers played in the 1990 NFC Championship Game? How many in Super Bowl XXV all together? Good trivia right? The answer is a lot!!!

  • horrible calls against the 49ers there were at least 4 to 5 of them

  • No doubt. I was in Long Island, NY. Lovin, it! Before the phrase, "There will be NO 3 peat" made its way into the general NFL lexicon. Where were you?

  • Comment removed

  • after pat summerall said "Im not just a kicker, I'm a player" how could you expect him to miss?

  • Classic Madden, never finishing sentences and changing thoughts mid-breath. I miss the 80s and 90s with these guys.

  • I still can't believe the fumble, but the Giants had an outstanding turnover ratio that year. Their interception ratio was 23-5, and their fumbles were up there as well. They were one of the first teams in memory that made a tactic of going for the ball. Great defenses cause turnovers...PERIOD.

  • After all of the NJ players that Penn State stole over the years, at least they gave us something back.

    God Bless those Bahr Brothers.

  • No matter what, that was one of the most exciting games I've ever seen.

    Been watching since 1960.

  • remember , Carthon dropped a touchdown

  • damn and they never score a touchdown! good job giants

  • THERE WILL BE NO THREE-PEAT!!!

  • I can play that game also, but claiming the years we DIDN'T win it were all luck on the part of the teams we lost to. Rams in '89, Ravens in '00, SF in '02, when we "would've" won it all (yeah right), last year vs. PHI.

    But then I'd sound ridiculous.

Fumbling is part of the game. the fake punt was luck? The GW FG was luck? Still bitter 20 years later?

  • Damn! The Giants were on the sideline praying. I guess they wanted it really bad.

  • When a team loses the game, they aren't the better team, especially when the winning team wins with their backup QB.

  • Erik Howard was the real hero of that game; I felt bad for Montana after that game; the two worst hits he ever absorbed was by Leonard Marshall, and in 1986 when Jim Burt knocked him out of that 49-3 loss to the Giants

  • It's been 21 years & I'm still pissed off that the 49ers lost this gamme.

There will be no 3-peat. :o(

  • @The7legacy # 1 Worst loss as a football fan, that ive ever had to cope with. Sad thing about most dynasties. They end in the worst of ways.

  • Comment removed

  • damn typos...it's* & postseason*

  • best game in Giants history in my opinion. some people would argue super bowl 42 but they beat the 2 time defending champs in their building here with a backup qb. just tremendous

  • @morrieswigs Yeah, i's hard to argue against that. Not just what you said, but the 2 time champs had won 7 straight postseson games by an average of 34-9

  • @MrBoogieMATT This Giant team was much stronger than those 7 playoff opponents..It is so f@#%ing hard to threepeat...If it isn't injuries('74 Dolphins/'76 Steelers/'05 Patriots) it's old age('68 Packers/'80 Steelers), it's coaching turnover('68 Packers/'94 Cowboys),a HOF QB retires('99 Broncos) or in the 1990 49ers case, an equally strong if not stronger contender standing in the way of that elusive threepeat..

  • @apollo792 oh bullshit.49ers were the better team.that fumble was just bad luck.they proved they could beat this gteam and did it in week 12 i believe during the season.

  • @jayfey77 the better team that day was the New York FOOTBALL Giants....15-13...and they won the super bowl as well.....so your wrong buddy boy....

  • @hiphoplegend1 bullshit.if they were the better team they wouldnt have had to depend on a fumble to win the game.cause without that fumble 49ers win the game you dumbass.so your wrong buddy boy.

  • @jayfey77 bullshit because if the Patriots don't make the field goal in the superbowl against the Rams then they lose...as a matter of fact if Kurt Gibson doesn't hit the homerun against the A's then they don't win the game..etc..etc, and of course all teams do play to win the fuckin game right?? so either you don't understand sports or your head is stuck way up your asshole...which is it?? either way your a dickhead so it all makes sense huh??

  • @hiphoplegend1 the patriots didnt have to depend on a fumble to get the ball back to make a field goal you dumbass.the 49ers just got a first down and were moving the ball on the giants and running out the clock when the fumble happened.i can't believe you are this stupid.also your a fucking idiot and a pussy.

  • @jayfey77 like I said you have NO CLUE about sports and what it entails to play it or watch it....lol

they depended on a fumble huh?? well guess what spineless they still won the game 15-13..."there will be NO 3 peat".....LMAO!

  • @hiphoplegend1 i play a sport for my college you dumbass.so you are an idiot who is just talking out of his ass.they did depend on a fumble.what game were you watching dumbass.you put a question mark.you act like there was no fumble.it was at the end of the game.sometimes luck decides a game you fool.your the one who doesnt know nothing about sports.look at texas beating usc in the championship game a few years ago.the better team doesnt always win.fuckin pussy.

  • @jayfey77 Texas was the BETTER team that night....shit happens and you must play for the handball team for your "college" man, cause I still say you don't know shit about sports...I still say that you are more of a video game player than a sports player cause your lost on one of the levels of that game or something mane....lol, "there will be NO 3 Peat"....that's gotta hurt huh?? this shit happened in 1990 and your still butt ugly hurt in 2011/2012...LMAO....your a loser!

  • @hiphoplegend1 no your a loser for liking hiphop and for thinking im not a sports player.you dont know shit.i play sports right now you fool for my college. i was only a year old in 1990 when that game was played you dumbass.i dont give a shit about tyhe 3 peat.i just know the giants werent the better team and only won cause of the fumble.the fact you can't admit that proves what a dumbass loser you are.

  • @jayfey77 LMAO...shut up young buck.....you've just proved once and for all that you don't know shit....motherfucker you were only ONE.....you were just shitting in a diaper when these 2 classic teams were sweating it out that great day in GIANTS history...you were getting burped by mommy when Bahr hit the game winner...man shut the fuck up...you BABY! lol

  • @hiphoplegend1 what the fuck does that have to do with the fumble you retard.the fumble happened it proved the giants needed luck to win this game you dumbass.you avoid the real reason because it proves you wrong and it proves what an idiot you are.your also a fucking pussy because talk shit online but cant back it up in person thats why u still havent given me ur name and address chickenshit.bahr never would have had a chance if it wasnt for the fumble which was a fluke play.

  • @jayfey77 my name is DICK IN YO BEYOTCHS BUTT...and my address is 2467 Smushin Ya Mom Lane, Los Angeles, Calif right down the block from Studio City bitch....come check me so I can punch you in your extremely dumb ass face.....LMAO! "There will be NO 3 peat" whether you like it or not faggot......lol..so go suck on that...

  • @hiphoplegend1 thats what i thought pussy.you got nothing.all talk.if you ever decide to stop being a chickenshit pussy let me know.being a pussy is no way to go through life.

  • @jayfey77 LMAO!

  • @hiphoplegend1 your a scared little pussy.and everybody here knows it.all talk.can't back up anything you say.weak.

  • @jayfey77 LMAO!

  • @hiphoplegend1 pussy.

  • @hiphoplegend1 LMAO!

  • @jayfey77 Clowns like you always trying to discredit the Giants (like Patriots fans and delusional Eagles and Jets fans talking about 2007) saying it's "luck". Fuck outta here.

  • @TheEsquire212 that fumble was luck.without that fumble they lose dumbass.

  • @jayfey77

You're an idiot. Craig didn't lose the ball on his own, Howard made a great play and LT made a great recovery. Luck implies they didn't do anything. You're a dumbass.

  • @cbaldwinjr his helmet hit the ball and knocked it out thats luck you dumbass.no skill there.he wasdnt even trying to cause a fumble.

  • 2:09 of this video is the last time Belichik has been seen smiling.

  • Here's another amazing thing people forget, here's some of the Giants' coaching staff from that season.. Bill Parcells, Ray Handley, Tom Coughlin, Bill Belichek, Romeo Crennel, Al Groh and Charlie Weis.

  • @uberfunction Absolutely. Most of them went on to successful careers, but I wish we could forget Ray Handley. :)

  • There will be no 3peat! I miss Pat Summerall and John Madden. Joe Buck or whichever Buck he is sucks!

  • @yryriza the old Giant in Pat came out in that moment lmao.

  • They won this game by not scoring a single touchdown!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was lucky enough to be at that game. Tremendous victory for the Giants. People forget the Giants were big underdogs in that game. When Anderson got that final first down I stood up and cheered. The entire section of 49er fans stared at me. Good but lonely feeling.

  • Even after 3 Super Bowls, this is my favorite game in Giant history.

  • @Dactuck mine too, best game ever

  • @Dactuck YES. Same.

  • @Dactuck I agree. There was something special about going into san fransisco and defeating the greatness that was the 49ers.

  • @Dactuck Do you remember where you were when this happened

  • @jotero83 Yeah! I Remember.

  • @jotero83 Yeah. I was either the the guy 12 rows up or 15 rows up at the left side of the left goalpost. I've got to find a better resolution version of this...

  • @bensonhedges2 To be a Giant fan watching the FG come towards you had to be great

  • @Dactuck YES.

  • @TheEsquire212 Are you ready for another classic? Many great GIANT wins have come in Candlestick..? I'm ready for another!

  • @Dactuck YES SIR.

  • I remember after the game how happy Terry Bradshaw was - his 4 Super Bowls in one decade was still intact.

  • @rusty1491 that would not have changed regardless of the outcome of this game. the niners had already duplicated the steelers mark of four superbowls in the 80s. this was the 1990 season, whole new decade.

  • @madmac993 The decade starts on the 1 not 0. When the Anno Domini (latin for in the year of our lord) after AD started being used there was no year zero. By your logic, 1990 would have been the 1991st year, but it was the 1990th, the last year of the decade.

Anyway, what a game. This and the Giants 2007 super Bowl win have to go down as two of the greatest games. Knocking out Goliath each time, just like they did to the 15 and 0 Bears decades ago. The Giants sure know how to dethrone teams!

  • @yryriza no, 1990 was the beginning of the 90's regardless of what the latins said or whatever, its just common sense. and when did the giants beat the bears when they were 15-0?

  • @madmac993 I hit the wrong key. The Bears were 13 - 0. It was the 1934 NFL Championship game. It is known as the sneakers game. You have no sense if you think it is common sense that 1990 was the start of the next decade. All decades and centuries in the Gregorian calender start on the year that ends in 1.

  • @yryriza yeah mel hein was off the hook that day. bronko went to his grave thinking that was an unfair move by the giants alaa pats vs phins snow plow game. so i guess the niners were the team of the 81's and the steelers the 71's etc. good luck with that catching on.

  • @madmac993 I'm done responding to a 12 year old like you.

  • @yryriza ''i'm a man! i'm 40!''

  • @rusty1491 I remember that. This game made me hate Terry Bradshaw, watching him grin from ear to ear that the 49ers lost. Hats off to the Giants. They deserved to win, this coming from an SF fan.

  • even so it was definitely one of the best defensive games of all time....thanks for posting so i could relieve the heart-ache :)

  • worse loss in niner history.....how does craig fumble that ball?? (especially since that was his second fumble on that drive) i knew then it was the end of an era!

  • THERE WILL BE NO THREEPEAT! Still music to my ears.

  • Thanks for posting this! I loved this Giants team that had so many workhorse players like Bavaro and Meggett. The defense is still probably in the top 3 of all time. What a great game that exemplified Parcels ball control philosophy.

  • Thanks for posting this. Huge Giants fan remember this game like it was yesterday. I agree with you res340 this was way before they declawed defenses. The rules are all in favor of the offense now. Leonard Marshall would have been fined and suspended if this was played today. That was a great clean hit. Two great teams in one tough battle. Also good comments by Italian stugots. Hate those corporate pricks.

  • @mets1617 Disagree, even today they could not have faulted Marshall on that hit. He was running at full speed and Montana suddenly stopped. That caused the collision to be so hard. He did not hit the helmet, and Montana still had the ball at the point of collision. But's hit on Montana in the playoffs might have gotten a penalty or fine today, but even that was a clean hit.

  • LMFAO@Belichick though

  • If you are a Giants fan and remember this game, this felt ALMOST better than beating the Pats. I cried back then and get chills every time I replay this.

  • Greatest Win in Giants History

  • Thanks for posting this.....

  • One of the Greatest if not the Greatest Conference Championship games played.

  • Craig's fumble was a key play, so was the Giants fake punt. Sad that this was Montana's last meaningful game as a 49er. He helped make the 49ers a dynasty in the 80's, the best quarterback ever.

  • Between this, SB 21 and the Pats in the SB. Damn the Giants have had some classics. And thanks DMeggett for posting the whole game.

  • At 3.28 The guy 2 behind Parcels. Was he not looking cause he was nervous? lol

  • The NFL and NBA have changed rules so there is more offense and restrictions on defense. Big mistake.

  • One of the 3 greatest games in NFL history. Physical, close all game, legendary coaches, Madden & Summerall on the call. This game was better than the Super Bowl, which many call one of the best ever. The NFC or AFC championship games to me are always better than the Super Bowls, because you have the homefield advantage, the Super Bowl is too antiseptic nowadays with too many corporate swine with no true desire in them, like in a home field.

  • As Bahr was about to make the kick I said to my brother "Watch this...This could be the end of an era".

  • @Seastorm21 End of the Joe Montana era for SanFran, that is.

  • @StukInBuf true but steve young stepped in after that and had a pretty nice era himself

  • another thought, the mistake by Craig erased the one by Everson Walls that resulted in the game's only touchdown

in a defensive struggle like this one, there's just no excuse for Walls going for the INT when he had no real shot and not making sure Taylor was tackled

Just a legendary game. What the NFL is about and why we luv it [or at least did-quit with all the rule changes already!]

also in this era, the NFC champ. WAS the Superbowl, tho there were 2 tight SB's, 90 being one of them

  • wow

one of the most intense games ever played-Madden had it right: every yard was contested

Montana injury was actually not consequential-except moral-wise--had to feel great for the Giants knowing the legend was out, but the horrible fumble by Craig the difference. 49ers shoulda salted this one away, Craigs upright style and him not wrapping up the ball in traffic cost the game

hard to imagine either one of these teams not destroying anyone in the NFL today

  • forgot about this one. great game

  • Worst loss in 49ers history

  • 1989 america's game you see GS just going nuts on the sidelines after this kick was successfull for NY giants no three peat

  • This still hurts after all these years.

  • this is still my greatest memory as an nyg fan. this is still the greatest win in franchise history.

  • I could've died that day. I was 11 years old on my parents' living room floor NERVOUS AS FUCK. When he made that FG, I KNEW we were gonna win it all.

  • one of the best football games of all time. GO GMEN

  • Thank you so much for uploading all 15 parts. I hadn't seen this game since its original airing when i watched it live (I was only 9 at the time). Im sort of amazed by how well my memory has held up with certain aspects of this game given its been so long since i saw it, but this was unforgettable

Also, 1990 was my 3rd year of watching the NFL, and the 49ers had won the SB the prior 2 years. All I had known at that point was SF winning SB's, they had this aura about them. To win this was unreal

  • @JoeBK81 NO ONE thought we could beat them, and even I was apprehensive before the game.

  • This is, to this day, the best football game I've ever seen...thanks for posting.

  • @beckerman88 YES.
