People seem to ridicule the fact that the solo is not a set in stone solo. It's supposed to be high pitched, squealy, and it's just supposed to sound cool. If you take the wah away like some people suggest he should, it would just sound like open notes and a few assorted chords really.

You're right my grammar is off. His style is to cover up for lack in skill by using a "wah" pedal. As a guitarist i have to admit that I'm not a better player (seeing as he has been playing longer than i've been alive) but I hope that as i progress i won't rely on an effect to carry me to success. I enjoy seeing talent and skill, this guy simply doesn't have it. I'm not going to go to every vid and bash him for it but this is my opinion and i'm sticking to it.
And you misunderstanded my comment clearly. He's not using wah to cover up his lack in skill, it's his style, he has always used just like in the 80's and 90's where he made some of the best solos of all time in metal and rock music. There are plenty of solos where his not using the wah.

this was absolutely wahtastic! ahaha, but guys that are being so harsh on kirks "simple playing" lets take a look at how hard it is to innovate the style he has created, totally unique to his time, and still, very unique. if you dont like his solos, then look how easily he seems to play the hardest riffs! the speed he puts into the tritone and the power chord is insane

People seem to ridicule the fact that the solo is not a set in stone solo. It's supposed to be high pitched, squealy, and it's just supposed to sound cool. If you take the wah away like some people suggest he should, it would just sound like open notes and a few assorted chords really.

@robofy Distortion is not a guitar effect you moron, it's simply how the sounds changes as volume increases. That is not an effect like a wah pedal, and Kirk uses the god damn wah pedal in almost every song, in every solo. And it sounds like shit. Lets here him play that same thing without the wah hiding all of his mistakes.

@MykePOM calling me names really amplifies your immaturity ..but as far as constructive criticism goes...you call distortion "how the sound changes as volume increases" rofl!!! why buy all those guitar effect pedals!! plug your guitar straight to your amp and "increase the volume" haha you get distortion....Kirk is a true solo player...he entertains with his solos and gives a great live gig....half of the uber technical guitar players are in their home and will stay there too.

Kirk Hammett solos sound all the same! I like the music Metallica has done, but I just never liked this guys playing very much. To me, i hear nothing original when i hear Kirk play guitar! I always thought he was lucky to be in this band! This guy is definitely no Randy Rhoads...that is for sure!

You're right my grammar is off. His style is to cover up for lack in skill by using a "wah" pedal. As a guitarist i have to admit that I'm not a better player (seeing as he has been playing longer than i've been alive) but I hope that as i progress i won't rely on an effect to carry me to success. I enjoy seeing talent and skill, this guy simply doesn't have it. I'm not going to go to every vid and bash him for it but this is my opinion and i'm sticking to it.

And you misunderstanded my comment clearly. He's not using wah to cover up his lack in skill, it's his style, he has always used just like in the 80's and 90's where he made some of the best solos of all time in metal and rock music. There are plenty of solos where his not using the wah.
