The only thing about this film that I thought was unfortunate was that they did not develop the Lisa Ellenburger character, Seegur, any more than they did.

In fact, Ellenburger was a body-builder and could easily have run circles around the other actors in that obstacle course, yet they portrayed her as being physically too weak to get over the climbing wall.

For people considering the military, the movie Full Metal Jacket is how it really is. The Marine Corps boot camp was very accurately portrayed. Forget what recruiters tell you. Recruiters are paid liars and are very good at it. They find what you want to hear, and promise it to you. Full Metal Jacket, real.

It stars Richard Gere, Debra Winger, David Caruso, David Keith, & Lousi Gossett Jr. as SGT Foley. in the role he won an Oscar for. better him to deserve it than Robert Preston as the pansy toddy in victor / victoria. SGT Foley's the man!

david caruso is part of the cast celebrating the 25th anniversary of the movie - he praises the film - as do richard, david, lou and others. for its time, this was one gutsy and very sexy movie. i also recall lou gossett jr. winning the oscar - that was a very cool moment.
