The whole story about the little girl fantasizing a new world with funny animal friends while sitting in a closet somehow reminds me of Alice in Wonderland ^^ after thinking about it, the story is really quite similar... ain't it?
I absolutely adore Alan Rickman, but I must admit, this is really the ONLY film I've seen him in where he played a true asshole, perfectly. And I've seen almost all of his films.
Sas soldiers go thru similar training with interrogation, I have been told from a sas solider that the interrogator tries to break u down by offering u a blanket food ect but u have to say no it's awful what they put them thru.

I don't really understand. He just wanted her to sign the damn sheet. Ofcourse she doesn't want, but after all she has been through she just should sign this paper. I mean, okay, im not english and its hard to me to understand what they are talking about, but what will happen to her when she has signed the paper? Something that is worse than that?
If she signs the paper she admits guilt to the crime and then is punished for that which could be far worse. Reminds me of the witch trials...they placed a large wooden door on the supposed witch, then asked her to confess to being a witch...if she said no they placed a large stone on the door. When it is was unbearable, she confessed and was burnt at the stake.

Regardless of WHO the Interrogator is, you have to have an essential piece of your brain missing to want those things to happen to you.
Yes, I like Alan Rickman, and I am thoroughly impressed by all of his performances, but I would NEVER subject myself to torture for him, or anyone.
Personally, the first time I watched the film, all I could think about is Alan, handcuffs and the fact that the actress is lucky enough to be locked in a room with him.
Im pretty sure no one would want to be kidnapped and tortured, but the fact is, we are lusting after Alan, not his character. Its all part of a fantasy, which is harmless.
If some one who didnt fancy Alan, fancied his character's mind and his actions, then we would really have a problem.
Actually, you don't know if she did it or not. It wasn't really specified. She just SAID it wasn't about that, but in the end she shows a concious realization of what the government was doing, when before she said that she hadn't known.
She might have actually been trying to get children to rebel. The point is that the government needs limits on what they do with suspected criminals, even if they are actually guilty. Also, it's about government power.
