  • This is a wonderful song - maybe his best. If you like this you might check out Jez Lowe’s “Last of the Widows” - another very moving song about reunions....

  • Richard's songs are so powerful...he paints such a vivid image without the posturing politics.

  • My new fave Shindell tune....not surprised he considers this his best.

  • Superb.

  • Mighty fine.

  • If this were the only song RS ever wrote, he would still be one of the greatest songwriters that ever lived. Sweet performance by all three musicians. Thank you for posting this treasure.

  • Lovely!

  • Richard closed with this when I saw him in Atlanta at the Red Light Cafe. Absolutely beautiful...

  • The looks Richard gives Tracy while she's playing the solo are lovely.

  • I saw RS at Madison Square Park in NYC a few years ago. He was outstanding, and Reunion Hill is one of my all-time favorites.

  • Makes me want to weep every time I listen to it. A song for every generation of women who mourn a husband, son, father or friend. A unique talent.

  • This is possibly Richard's most beautiful song.

  • "Dreamed a dream I will not tell"... This tender and intimate expression by a wife for her long lost soldier - husband is so poignant. Richard's ability to give true voice to so many different "people" is, for me, absolutely amazing and wonderful. From the courrier to the illegal immigrant to this civil war widow, they all come to life through his imagination.

  • I heard an interview with Richard from 2006 where he thought this was the best song he had written. His admission was amazingly humble. Both this song and Che Guevara T-shirt bring me into the song like I'm there. I can't think of many artists that can bring me that far into their experience.

  • Is that Tracy Grammer playing in the back ground?

  • Indeed it is, and that's Byron Isaacs on bass.

  • Very cool! I had not noticed Tracy on the first viewing!

Someone finally put up four videos of Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer... I with there were more. The same friend who turned me onto Richard Shindell, brought me to Dave & Tracy at The Tractor in Seattle.... Amazing.

  • Hi I visit your channel after listenig to the cover of Reunion Hill that was performed on you tube by Mark Wilderspin and Alex West...

They did a great job and now I hear the original....very beautiful!!!

    Peace

    Love Mary A

  • Thanks so much for this! What an amazing song from an incredibly gifted writer and musician. "Reunion Hill" has long been a favorite of mine--it is a real treat to see this video of Mr. Shindell performing it live!

  • Wow, thanks for sharing! A treasure. I saw him at The Bottom Line in New York City several years ago. Wonderful.

  • This man can surely craft a song. And he plays a mellow guitar, too.

  • What a treat to watch Shindell perform this masterpiece of songwriting. Thanks for that! Slow and sweet it is, indeed...
