@matthewme23 recuping oil left overs isn't the same as Bio-diesel... You can use left overs anyway if you have a diesel motor and like your car to smell like fries.

I don't think that the real Bio-diesels are a solution because there goes more energy in then what comes out...

I don't know where you live, but here we get electricity from nuclear nrg, wind, water and solar power, not from coals...

But the overall biggest problem is that people are just to lazy -> more fuel consumption

@JRIPx -Yeah, good point...I'm in Colorado and we are trying to build more wind and solar power facilities as well as geo-thermal buildings too. And yeah, I took a closer look at bio-diesel, it's good, but certainly not the best or most viable solution. More work to be done but I do like the concept, it is a step in the right direction for sure!

You all do know and realize electricity is still created, for the most part, from the major power grids and stations using petroleum products & coal. I'm sure most folks do understand that fact; this is not really going to solve our petroleum & fossil fuels dependence problem.

Marko Rodin has put his electric coil design into the public domain if anyone's interesting in building one. They are 63.5% more energy efficient than the current electric motor design.

Electric motors are currently around 98% efficient, so 63.5% more efficient would be pretty minuscule. What really needs to be addressed is the torque drop off at high rpm.

Electric may be clean on your end, but to make that electricity, power plants are generating more co2 emissions. there is less emissions by you burning gas than the power companies making electricity...

so until we find better ways to generate that electricity were still in the same hole.

I've been to at least 4 conference talks discussing the issue of using coal plants as the sole electric supplier for EV vehicles, namely the Tesla. All key note speakers agreed that, in the worst possible scenario, you get a Roadster emitting as much as a Prius.

Plus another thing, it is much easier, from capital cost perspective, to reduce vast emissions in a coal plant (only one outlet) than 1000's of gas powered cars (1000's of outlets).

GM just opened a battery development wing in the tech center and A123 battery is building a plant in Michigan, people need to put past sins in the past and get behind US manufacturing and EV technology. We need EREV like the volt and 200C EV now!! This type of Extended Range Electric can be a bridge for battery technology. I know about the Texaco NiMH battery scandal but as we gat a mass produced EREV then EV technology will be in place and ready for the next battery technology (After Texaco patient runs out) So we need to get behind this and stop looking back

the dodge ev is supposed to get 150-200 miles per charge not 40 w/ gas assist. its an all ev and no price has been even hinted yet for that car its gonna most likely undercut tesla and price for like 70-80g's. but 40 would be great!
